I've been following this game since it's inception and I'm on the Discord.
The devs are talented, but it's like they have a 24/7 job that doesn't allow them to work on the game.

Pretty much every update is "look, we've worked on backend stuff, movement, combat" which while impressive, should've have taken this long.

And at its core, this is a porn game. Let's get real. People are looking for content, not backend updates for 2 years. Even adding 3-4 new enemies would've been awesome for the reception and attitude this game gets.

Honestly, I WANT this game to succeed and be amazing, because at it's core this IS a well refined side-scroller game that can make waves, it's just lacking content and consistent updates that at least light the spotlight at the end of the tunnel.
If they have patreon and they paid for even with small amount, having 24/7 job can't be excuse otherwise it is charity. If they're really talented ( I mean Senior developer or higher ) and wanna do this game as hobby i mean come on they can spare 16-17 hours at week and this 5 years old game would already done with much content. It won't be stuck in v.0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-1-5-3-6- So Early Super Uber Alpha. I'm not blaming them but let's be honest all their excuses are just gloss over method, they just abondon the game and now milking the money on charity nothing more.

This is why I'm disappointed. The game should be way more advanced than it is now. Even changing engines midway to Godot shouldn't have held them back this much if they dedicated as much time as Patreon money they make.

Like, it feels like they squander all their effort of gameplay advancements that amount to little if there is no H-Content to keep player interest. I don't imagine they make enough of patreon to just focus on smooth gameplay.

I wish games like Lilith's Throne (Innoxia) had a half as good programmer as Predation (maybe then that game wouldn't be using Java KEKW).

I will admit that it is partly a scam although technically the donations are by choice. Being a Patreon when there is new content is better than paying month to month. Even so, the game is better than many for how little it is. It could be a bad decision by the creator or donors, it doesn't matter, no one is to blame and no one is wrong. The game is good, you can't expect someone to be behind a PC 24/7 creating a porn game. Creating a game is difficult, even if it doesn't seem like it, one can dedicate oneself and still not feel satisfied. The important thing is to know why the creator does not publish or create content. One should not see donations as paying for a game, they are a donation after all, you are giving your money to someone and they have no right to do anything. It is true that there may be little new after an update but talking to the developer and knowing their situation is better. tell you to dedicate more to each update instead of releasing content to keep the game active. suggest content and support it by creating. etc There are thousands of ways. Even if there are 30 people getting paid from Patreon. Maybe only 1 works. There are many people dedicated to uploading games, some of them for free, and others take advantage and make profits illegally. Others release good games and keep the content constantly updated with extras and that may be because they receive a lot of donations and it motivates them to give back with their effort by creating suggestions from people. I'm not going to say bad things about anyone but you can't target anyone in these situations. It's not something done badly. Something just happened and the game was abandoned.

  • Not taking into account that when they started making the game they were learning stuff as they went.
  • Ignoring that there is stuff there and that more is on the way, with most of the work on the backend meant to make future development easier/more streamlined.
  • Blaming them for making excuses when they still put stuff out when they say they're planning to.
Just say you don't understand that the devs have lives besides making a game, and say they should only work on this game like a triple-A studio.

And for fuck sake, there have been other updates, but nobody was sharing them here until just a couple days ago when v0.2.7.2 was shared.

Well, the game isn't abandoned as it just got an update, and the only reason it seemed abandoned before was because nobody was sharing updates here.

It also isn't "partly a scam" because people are getting updates and are donating to support the devs

I entered the thread today although I had played the game a while ago. Certainly I just found out that it is updated and whether or not it happens in the game, my message is in reference to all those who in the last pages complain that they have not updated it in a long time. If the updates were not published correctly, I myself put in my message whatever the game is, it is no one's fault.

Mine is a point of view, not an opinion on the subject, so I do not clarify anything, I only talk about what I read, like people saying that it was not updated and that they donated and did not receive updates, or it was simply left aside and no one He did nothing and was abandoned. If it was updated recently and I haven't seen the game for a while, I for one would say that it hasn't been updated for a while. So for my part, if I say that I understood that, that they said that no one participates, then the game is abandoned because it is not updated. I didn't say it was unfinished, just abandoned.It means that no one reviews it and it is suspended from any content from both users and the original creator. I don't know if it was updated on Patreon or something, but here on f95zone I didn't see an update, that's why I said. Don't take what I say the wrong way, I'm just clarifying, maybe they see me as a hater talking about the game even though I throw flowers at it. But hey, if you saw me talking well about the game, I don't know why I should talk about little or nothing in reference to what I said.First read the entire page, not just the last message. Again, what I say is not in a bad way, but if you read above, we were chatting between 3 people, I think, and you only read my message talking about what they said.

You really do have a sound argument....provided the game started development in 2021. And imo that's fair.

Since it started in 2018, the devs(or you) really can't hide behind such a cop out/side step "argument" anymore. But I will call that my opinion as well. Like I said, you make valid points, but it's also been 6 freaking years.

Last time I played this game was in 2020. I didnt even know this was still being developed lmao I thought it was abandoned

We're talking about 6 years of development, let me expect something more than early alpha. Even they spare 16 hours at week, it will make 48x16=768 hours and 32 day on a year. One of them artist and the other one is coder and they both work from home and they're in UK. Like u, I assume they work 6 hours per day with weekend free at home. So it won't be hard to spare 2 hours to game per day and in 6 years u can easily do much more work than current state I mean u can even release a second game. Let's take a look the devolopers. Well with basic research i found 2 members of Horned Lizard Studios. Tib and Sephra. Tib is the coder also from Hungary but live in UK and 28 years old. Sephra is handling with art stuffs, from UK but not much about him/her. According to Tib's steam page he is Full time Game Developer for Horned Lizard Studios, and made Artificial Fright. I just checked what is '' Artificial Fright '' shorty it's a horror game they're working on it and they use their own names, i mean they don't develop under Horned Lizard Studios. I will leave a link if u wanna take a look or support. But shorty they're working on another '' hobby '' even before finish the first one. But at this point i think i judge them wrong i accept that, it's a game will always be free as they say so look at this as scam or milking money is kinda wrong but u must admit they don't actively devopping the predation either. Oh and i don't think they're struggling about cover costs at least not Tib. I mean look at him, he can spare money to his hobbies can go fine places even buy a custom-made mask. He is fine :) Bro is on fire

Never a more smooth and spreadable jam than Game-Jam level content. Just take two days/weeks of dedicated content and spread it atom thin across years.

What a pile of rubbish mate. If this was the case, they'd need to invest their own money in the project and then sell it to people in hopes it would pay back - it's how your triple-A studios do. Nobody expects that and you know it.

They've been working on this game for years now. Not like it's a state of art or with overly complicated mechanics. And they've been supported financially by people all this time. Not to mention what RasenRengar said above - they're working on multiple titles and generaly don't seem to be broke at all - quite the opposite in fact. So yea, people are right to critique such work as it begins to look like many indie adult games - either abandoned or semi abandoned and it bears the marks of scam - to create foundation for a game, throw in something to wank to and sucking money from dupes for many years, occasionally throwing insignificant updates like "bug fixes" or some new textures or whatever piece of crap they try to refresh interest in the project.

If you do something like this to enjoy it yourself or to share with friends, it's fine. But if you decide to sell it, this is whole different story.
