I played Mist recently. I has pretty good story. Utawarerumono from 2002 has great story, but I guess it hardly an eroge, coz there is few scenes there. Original Fate Stay Night has a quite decent and touching story, not without stupid shit though.

Well a few of us have dev experience across the industry too. I've done writing in some surprising projects, we have people who worked at Spiders, and a ton of adventure games lol. Arbuz was working on the comic alone, we all came on to develop an actual game, with the intention of making it an ACTUAL game as well as an erotic game.
So you want to make a fullfledged game with erotic elements. Ok, I understand now.
So how come, that seasoned devs released a product with several updates without shaping a battle system? Coz you clearly mentioned that it is not shaped still. Was there no brainstorming? No pitching? No design document v0.1, 05, 1.0? Prototyping? Some playtesting maybe? How? Why?
I can't help but starting to suspect there is no clear project vision aside from story and art.

So how come, that seasoned devs released a product with several updates without shaping a battle system? Coz you clearly mentioned that it is not shaped still. Was there no brainstorming? No pitching? No design document v0.1, 05, 1.0? Prototyping? Some playtesting maybe? How? Why?
I can't help but starting to suspect there is no clear project vision aside from story and art.
Because the combat system is our most complex bit of design. Yes there was a prototype, obviously. We've done design documents, and we have made several changes over the course of development. Skills, skill trees, balancing, the targeting, visibility through objects. We changed from a standard "battlespace" to being able to do battles inside of any location.

I've had enough shit with 8bit and 16bit consoles, so I don't fap on poor design and stupid "just to add 20 more hours of playtime" things. Those who missed that huge shitpiles can enjoy everything they want. Doesn't make shitty mechanics any better.

We haven't decided on all the phenotypes of the Zahra... but I would like Bovine too tbh, Arbuz insists that they have "feet" vs hooves since he wants them all to have a common root, but personally I think it's fine if we have a few convergent Zahra evolutions that might not be able to breed with one another...

But I am 100% against fisting, I will... not allow it in the game. These bastards (ArbuzBudesh , deck ) won't let me have my fucking wholesome and cute watersports scene where you pee on some chick, I will NOT let them sneak in that fisting weirdness! Sheesh.



But yeah we have about 30 hours of content in the full version right now and 30-40 scenes... actually I think we are up to 55-60+ scenes now? I would argue it is good but I am biased as I am VERY proud of the animators, artists, composers and writers I work with. Here's a few short gifs... or one gif, can't fit anymore lol

Our scenes have a lot of stages and such, the text can be a bit looooong. I am not sure if I am happy with how much text our scenes have, it might be too much. WE get compliments about it still, though. So yeah! There's like, 50 of these and then there's a bunch of sprite scenes too.

Haha nah I got you mate! Just wanted to keep up the joke :p. We have mostly hentai content btw, but we do have scalies and a rare few furries, but most all scenes are optional so if you aren't down with scalies you can choose to not bang any! Hiho SHOULD have platonic options but not sure if we implemented it correctly.

The steam version will be definitive, yes.
When it will be COMPLETE i suppose.
But what about initial release? There is "2024" written there, but the game is more like a messy demo version now, not an almost finished product which is ready to release this year.

Gold and Sand =/= Avarice, and our estimate was end of 2024 but we have not sent a hard date. Hard to state/dedicate a time, especially since we will be working with Critical Bliss who will have input on when/where our window should be, too.

I'm not saying PFF paywall is stupid, I'm saying the whole idea of paywolling crucial content is stupid. And quest is crucial in PFF, coz there is no interesting repeating scenes, nor there is any interesting game loop. Paywalling crucial content will never do any good to any kind of project, regardless of genre or company. EA says hello with Dead Space outlash. And they had all the money to forcemarket it.
Problem is - you paywalled character progression wich is even more stupid IMO. There is all kind of additional paywall content which can do good - skins, scenes, poses, even character. It can be somewhat logical to paywall a complete characters. Like in Princess&Conquest. But to show characters, start their loyalthy quest - and paywall the rest of a tory - it is so fucked up, I cant even find the right words for it. And I have a lot of words.
But the core of the problem with PFF - there is no core gameloop to grind except of that trashy hunting quest for 2,5 copper coin. End even if I did decide ti grind it - there is not a single reward for it.
Merchant sell useless trash. There is no new armor, weapons, potions to buy, no house to furnish, nothing.

10 hours of content? Dont make me laugh please. With all due respect to all that artwork, there is several linear quests with tons of shitty text to read. For example, Crimson Dervish quest:

And not just that one quest - that kind of wierd things is everywhere. Why the fuck all girls clings to MC? It would seem right if there was some kind of mystic event at the fertility shrine at the beginning – which in turn led do Lady Wolf choosing to make MC work for her. But there was no such event, so MC is just another knife-ear. Yet L.Wolf throw hersef on him(not his oblivious friend) and every girl he met do the same. Why? Coz of some secret reasons straight from the writers head I guess? Which is stupid and breaks immersion. (and you did say you want to create a good game, so immersion is your friend, why kill it?)

And with all my might I'm trying not to say all that colorful words I have in mind - about battle system. With almost identical characters. Useless skills and inadequate level of subsystems.
There is a game named "Regalia Of Men and Monarchs". It has the same party ptinciple as PFF - you have several characters, but in fight you can use only a few. and use them to fight in turn based battles. But the thing is - they are all DIFFERENT. There is a tank, a shooter, debuffer, mage, etc. About dozen of them. And their battle mechanics is FAR MORE simple and easy to understand. Yet, there is enough room for making any kind of challanges.
Oh, and - did you know - undo last move doesn’t work most of the time.

And that is not all. There is UI. Oh, UI. Left corner menu is so fucking small it is almost useless.
New game option IN THE FUCKING MIDDLE of main menu? Who came up with the idea? Check his skin for blue feathers, he may be one of Tzeentch acolytes. Apparently the same person who came to a brilliant idea - NOT TO SHOW your money while in trading menu. Tzeench indeed was happened there I tell you. Oh, and there is no way to overwrite saves. Only create new saves and load old onews. For whatewer mysterious reasons.
Changing active character in battle is invisible – should be indication so player see it with if only corner of his eyes. ESPECIALLY with thad f... alternatively interesting battle system where skills sometimes end turn, and sometimes not.

When I saw this game first time I thought something is off - coz of broken things here and there. But I assumed it is early alpha. So I decided to give it a chance. But things keep stockpiling. I never could guess that in porn game I have no way of repeating a scene with character, for example. It it not even wierd - it is outright stupid.
And today I found out that the project has been in development for more than five years. By the seasoned devs like you told me earlier. And battle system is STILL not shaped, like you told earlier.
It is not something off - everything is off. Except art. And music. If we dont talk about art (and most of animations), there is not even a single aspect which is not broken or twisted. And on top of that - paywalled quests. For the fucks sake. 1 scene, 1-2 fights and several pages of text. Pay-fucking-walled.
And with that pile of fucked up things, you say there is another ptoject you are developing? *Plop* Nice(c).

There needs to be a monetisation strategy and this is it, every single project manager who has approached us, every other devteam etc... have told us we are charging too little as it is and they've showed us the metadata to prove that if we upped it to $15 instead of $5 we'd get well over 3x what we are now in terms of patreon numbers.

But we aren't doing that. This is an early version of the game and we are thankful to everyone backing us and literally putting food on our table, in exchange for content. That's baller, and without them this project wouldn't be happening.

Then our brilliant mc proposes: come with us and we’ll hit a few jobs and HOPEFULLY YOU CAN SAVE ENOUGH TO TRAVEL TO REDLANDS. You fukin serious?! ... yeah, you realise how expensive one gold piece is? That'd be on average a person's yearly wage... lol... this isn't fuckin, Diablo, where you are carrying hundreds of thousands of gold pieces. You think people are carrying these things around? lol. The trade and use of gold coinage and bullion is almost entirely at the statei and intra/inter-company business transactions. A single gold coin is worth hundreds of silver coins. Our silver coins are worth roughly a hundred copper pieces.

Most people, like in real life in the roman empire, the middle ages, etc... will never even come into contact with a single gold coin.
Not to mention these are like in real life and yes even the middle ages etc, FIAT currencies (the gold standard only existed in the 1879-1933s and nearly destroyed the entire western world for that short period it existed). The worth of a gold coin is quite a bit more than the gold that went into it, and are almost always never pure gold, as well.

So yeah, most people only ever deal in copper, brass, bronze, and silver coinage. Credit is used too of course in bank notes, but most people in this day only do that for layaways and such and with interest rates.

He's handsome, competent, and has an Antonio Banderas in 13th Warrior accent. He shows up in the right time and helped/helps them and is... generally not a piece of shit. Again, kinda showing you haven't played the game much? Because if you do shitty actions around specific characters it will actually drive them away. Every single character has a tolerance/threshold based on your choices and react negatively/positively to different things. Though generally I try and avoid the one character liking a thing and another disliking it, it can get too arbitrary and dumb if you force that into every-single-option. Also dissuades pairings too much... so usually more characters can like an act, and 1 will dislike it. It tries to be realistic too... no one likes you murdering the scullery boy for instance, but Osh'to and Scylla have a higher tolerance for that while Samara and Hiho have VERY huge negative hits. That, and fucking over the madman in Toreign, can basically auto-eject Hiho unless you have managed to build near-perfect rapport.

I'll explain further then. I did not mention about something needs be free. It is just stupid to say that. But one thing - to do bonuses exclusive to patrons, and another thing - is to cut contenr to paywall it. Again, that shitty landmine demolished more than one project - from full fledged game companies, with big markenting budgets. The sole idea is stupid.
I'll emphasize it - not PFF only, ANY kind of content cutting is shit because this is a direct segregation of the community and a crude attempt to extort additional money. And it NEVER ends well.

What Antonio Banderas is supposed to do with unnatural behaviour or characters? Cutipies is pretty common in any era and any nation, they are just threated differently depending of situation around. But - ok, if MC is so hot, that all the girls nearby is flooding just from him saying "hi" - then there MUST be some hints in all dialogs. Like first bandit encounter, or dungeon dialog and then later through the game. All the time. Just to make things looks right.

I got all the companions. Only first girl looks genuine. She is easygoing and she tease MC a lot, so it feels natural for her type to just jump stright in the MC's bed. Snake girls looks like she is in heat season - all that blushing during the first meeting.
But oni girl should know better, coz she is brutal fighter type. Yet, she falls for MC so soon. It doesn't feel natural now.
Same with dervish - tough bandit leader for twenty years of killing and not making it too personal, and with a background like hers - again, a few days - and voila - sudden sex. Out of character. And that pirate bartender - she sees dozens of people everyday, yet the second MC shows up - "let me lose in my game just to fuck". It is kinda wierd and it feels like every girl get wet the same minute MC shows up. It looks wierd and unnatural.
And again - if only there was some kind of mystic event in the fertility shrine - then all thet behavioural oddities would feel just right. With adding just about 5-10 dialog lines. There was even special spot before giant stone head. Iif the writer had used this opportunity, all the other encounters woul've looked much more natural.

You said about seasoned devs. I expected an absence of OBVIOUS errors. I played several hours - and I see problems already. To those who is in charge of overall design I can recommend Shell's Book of Lenses. So they can see the problems too. Coz if they cant - youre in deep shit. Difference is - when you will smell it. Apart from it I'm afraid, only GAMING experience will help. Not GAMEMAKING experience. Several days ago some former dev mentioned that main problems with modern gamedev approach - their makers don't play games.
If what you're saying is true - about making a decent game as your goal, you will either learn the curves, or suffer consequennces. Not coz of no-name clown from porngame forum says so, but because of wiseasses who write books says so. I'd recommend some of Shreier's books, there is plenty of examples there.
If you don't like our writing that's fine, but welcome to the genre of CRPG.
Writing is in desperate need of good editing. Good story != wordflood.
Good mechanic require comprehensive description. But five volumes of explanation means mechanic is shitty.

Or when Moira brings up his accent, or his ruggedness... when Mara goes over his "unusual" traits that are well above the norm? Random merchant chatter from the stalls that call out that he must have a few pretty ladies at home and if you have companions they automatically assume they are his partners?

There's banter between Samara and Scylla where they bring up the Einadian accent as one of the best, though Samara is pretty partial to Novenci accents.

Like, ever been enlisted, or university/college? Jobs? People are hooking up ALL the time, like you don't have to be some drop dead hotty super charismatic even lol... if people are single and working together for a long time, shit is gonna go down. The stance on Sexuality in our setting is generally far more libertine than reality too. Like I don't know if its a small town thing and my experience is THAT different but it's not unusual to have a couple regular hookup buddies lol...

Several days ago some former dev mentioned that main problems with modern gamedev approach - their makers don't play games.
Guy sounds like a fucking moron then. People who play games don't know what makes good games as unpopular as that might be to say. They might know things they like but they don't know WHY they like it and they almost always never know what they don't like. If people who played games really knew what they didn't like... then why the fuck are gacha games so popular? Why the fuck is Call of Duty so big? Rainbow 6 Siege keeps getting more and more players and according to people who play games, it's complete trash ruined by sci-fi and weird/dumb cosmetics. But those people still buy them lol, they still play it.

There's a good conference where a CounterStrike developer talks about how much he hates player feedback since their feedback is almost always so uninformed and wrong that it will lead you down bad roads. Like Arrowhead and Helldivers 2 where they were listening to their hardcore fans on discord, Darktide and how FatShark has over and over made weapons shittier to use/wield/play with because... their discord keeps asking for those nerfs because they get upset when they see people naturally gravitating to weapons and tools they find fun. People who play games know less than people who make games. In fact the best fucking devs out there are those board rooms who make cookie cutter games that are reiterating the same thing over and over and over because that's what sells. People who play games will tell you how fucking horrible Call of Duty is and it is the same thing over and over and complete garbage... but they're still going to buy it. They're still going to put literally 200-500+ hours into it. They are still going to buy cosmetics, loot boxes, DLC, etc.

Game Devs DID try and listen to people for awhile... well it comes in waves where game devs go "ohno, the players all are unhappy!" And the industry starts experimenting putting out weird and interesting stuff... which all fucking flops, only manages a cult following... and then the industry fires/lays off a shit ton of people and goes back to remakign and reiterating the same content again.

The CounterStriker developer literally put in a fake ping counter that lied to players because counterstrike players kept complaining about how each update made the game laggier/unresponsive/worse. So what did they do? They progressively with each update -5 from your ping, until it got so high people were starting to see ping in the - integers lol. But people LOVED it until they noticed that something was wrong.

Also this shit I am saying? It sounds unhinged and evil. But it's what every fucking person who actually makes games will tell you if they take the PR gloves off. You do not listen to gamers. It RUINS games. It RUINED Star Wars Galaxies, it RUINED EverQuest, it is RUINING Final Fantasy 14 with how much they dumb the fucking game down due to SOME players wanting the game dumbed down and made easier so that what job you pick is nothing but an aesthetic change but they all function the same with no identity other than the weapon you wield/animations and some particle effects lol.

What DOES matter is people with experience in making games or criticising and testing games doing playtests to figure shit out, and then after awhile you bring it out to broader testing groups. But to peel off some of the veneer of game developers and dick riding that goes on... CEO and studio heads almost always know when something is going to flop years before they release it.

Writing is in desperate need of good editing. Good story != wordflood.

And said character had twenty years of that shit after losing her family. Is she still has her sanity, there is not many things that can dismay her

Or how there's one of the girl's nights where they are all talking about their types, and Redic's accent is brought up? Or when Moira brings up his accent, or his ruggedness... when Mara goes over his "unusual" traits that are well above the norm? Random merchant chatter from the stalls that call out that he must have a few pretty ladies at home and if you have companions they automatically assume they are his partners?

I showed you an example - new game button in the midde of the ingame menu and the lack of owerwrite save and delete save options. The absence of playe's money in the trading menu. I dunno what projects those devs done in the past, but I doubt that was something decent. People with gaming experiance don't do shit like that. They just dont.

Did you work for Ubisoft perhaps? Oh those highly knowledgable carefully selecter smallgoups, that keep praising utter shit like skull&bones or concord. Oh those allmighty CEO's and studio heads omniscent coz of their posttion. Yet keep making same stupid mistakes, leading projects to their demise for some MYSTERIOUS REASONS. Cool story.
