I suspect that we actually agree. It _is_ extremely hard to write an internally-consistent and interesting narrative. But player agency should have little to no impact on the narrative... if it's done the right way.

The mistake that many Devs make is that they assume that player agency = branching plot. Those branches can absolutely kill the integrity of the story, exhaust the writer(s), and create hopeless complexity. They can kill a game.

But there are plenty of ways to grant a player agency without spawning a hopelessly complicated series of plot branches. _Planescape: Torment_, which for my money is still the best-written game of all time, gave the player a massive feeling of agency with almost no real plot branches. Instead, a player's decisions -- including things as simple as asking certain questions -- changed the way the PC saw himself, the NPCs, and the world. These changes were profound... but they hardly affected the plot at all. The player goes on the same journey, and has the same confrontations in the same order... but the meaning of those confrontations for the PC changed profoundly... because of the player's decisions.

Don't worry y'all. The main plot is fixed, but there will be romance branches (Maria-only vs harem). There will also be some flavor choices, but they won't branch the plot. I can't imagine writing 15471849 different scenarios for everything that could happen with a complex branching plot, so that won't happen. What will happen is that your choices will influence how you/the group overcomes obstacles. It'll get more obvious in Act 2 what I mean by that, promise.

First, Congratulation for the Mariage and subsequent Honeymoon. Second, Great update. Every critics of movies or book that I read constantly say: show don't tell. But I realy liked what you did with it showing the character growing in control of what is narated and at the same time alowing you to pass more time with your wife and loved one in your personal life. restriction breeds creativity. (You told a part of your story to show an other, that is brilliant I love it)

I also like the twist you bring to the trope it will make the story interesting. And I gessed wrong it was not based on a magical civilisation ho well you gess some right and you gess some wrong.

Really liked the story so far. It has a nice balance between a believable plot and realistic conversations, internal dialogues. Strangely though some parts give me a sense of Dejavu. Maybe I tried this game before much earlier and forgot about it or maybe just my brain creating false memories from mashing this new experience with other arbitrarily similar elements from past memories. Appreciate the effort and work that went into crafting this gem of a VN Pandaman Games!

Well that was a wham chapter, alright. Nothing is the same anymore.... I can barely wrap my head around it....
