not sure off the top of my head, been a while... but you can take a look at the variable with URM as to what it does, could be just difference in dialogue

it does have animations yes, so if those don't show up for you it's probably an issue on your end

There is free software that can instantly compress all images in a couple of minutes. I've been using that kind of software in the near past. Maybe that's an idea? Just saying.

It's not a question of whether I can - I absolutely can. I already compress the images for Android versions, actually. I leave them uncompressed because I think people with >1080p monitors should be able to play PoP at full screen and not be staring at compression artifacts. I spend a lot of time on making high quality renders, so I want people to be able to enjoy them. For download size issues, patch updates are always available on Steam and I'm doing patch updates on Patreon as well, plus people can always download the compressed versions here if they care. And at the end of the day, storage is hella cheap and this is only ~7GB, so PoP isn't costing much for people to store.
I think that you may not understand what the game is... (nothing bad on you), the game is not a fantasy game... it is actually a post-apocalyptic game... set hundreds of years after a futuristic earth destroyed almost everything...
I found the AI entity a bit off putting the first time I played the game as well. But as others have said, this has some porn in it, but not really a porn game... kind of like Game of Thrones has sex scenes but is not a porno.
I personally like the story and characters. But you must understand that the developer is not going to radically change his game because someone does not like it. So maybe try to just enjoy what it is or move on. Not much you or I can do about games.
But anyway maybe this helps you or maybe not... but anyway... peace.

This game is about the story. This game is about the relationships. This game is about resurgence and rebuilding.
This game isn't about sex. This game isn't a Medieval Fantasy. This game isn't about p0rn.
You came to this with the worst possible expectations, expecting a p0rn game. It has sex scenes, yes, because sex is part of relationships between adults.
But, when you call a finely crafted story "meaningless fight/ dialogue", you completely missed the point. So badly that you're not even in the same Universe.
I am going to speculate, that you progressed by skipping looking for the sex scenes, not bothering to read, understand, immerse yourself in the story and in the world.
If that is the case, you have no one else to blame but yourself. You and this game are not a match, that much is obvious. This game demands that you think and feel, you aren't available to do that.
If I may suggest something, it is better for you to search for another game more to your "needs", because playing a game heavily geared towards reading, when you don't read anything, will NOT work.
TL/DR: It's not the game, it's you.

And I just bulk converted the a1c1 images (322 images) from uncompressed to compressed and saved a whopping 2.54MB (497.88MB to 495.34MB). Or in other words 0.51%. If the same compression rates holds true for the rest of the images, and with the (CH17) size at 6.23GB, that's only a savings of 32.6MB.

I think "bemused" is generally misused. It means "confused" but I think dev is using it as a synonym for "amused"
Don't mean to nitpick, but I think this VN has very high quality writing so just doing my part to make it even better? Most other AVNs I don't even bother because such mistakes are littered all over.
