Replaying this again and every time I do I forget about how truly awful of a human being Jacob was. I feel such strong Christopher Columbus connections it's crazy. Like the first few chapters do such a good job into tricking you that Jacob-you know, has a soul, is a decent person, isn't an inhuman monster partially responsible responsible for a genocide/the genocide of his own people-and then you meet Ana. And you remember that's imperialism's whole thing; be picture perfect for close relations and absolute monsters for anyone else(Also close relations bc he let Maria catch the plague).

Game 2 Preview - The Soulspire

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you're all doing well. I wanted to provide some early previews of the tower we'll be in for the large majority of the game. As I'm sure you all can imagine from the name of the game and the title, that tower is named Soulspire - though our heroes won't know that for quite a while (don't tell them, it ruins the dramatic tension). I've spent the large majority of my dev time this month working on building and furnishing the tower, and I've finally gotten to an acceptable version 1. I've modeled and textured every single thing in here, which I'm very proud of.
I'm still working on lighting, but I wanted to give you all a preview of what the Soulspire will look like on the inside!I'm calling it version 1 because as good as it looks right now, I'm sure I could do better in the future with more experience. At the same time, I obviously can't continuously work on refining and upgrading the models and textures, because otherwise I won't actually make a game.
I've called it here, and at some point in the future when I'm more experienced and can do an even better job, I'll be able to go back in and upgrade the models and textures. Every model and texture is in its own file and the entire tower set up is very modular, so I'll be able to tweak things and have the changes propagate from the base file forward to everything else. Once I finish the lighting here, I'll be moving on to finalizing clothing on Dawn, then on the others. Weight painting all the clothes so they move/deform properly will surely be a pain in the ass, but I'm also excited to finally get the character models fully set up and ready to pose in this nearly-completed tower.
Just started this AVN, I have a deal breaking question: the MC right now seems a little silly (joking around, having cringe inner monologues), does he mature or remains like this until the end?

Well, it is. These woke people are the new Roman Inquisition....The fuck is a "woke" relationship? Too many people just call anything and everything they don't like "woke" as if it's the biggest insult in the world.
This is a great game. I like the slowly evolving story and the interpersonal relationships. But I am a loss figuring out the specifics about the islands this happens on.
Eastern Canada, New Brunswick seems to be the area. Price Edward Island and New Foundland island? But that does not make sense, since a short (a few hours max) rowboat trip does not seem feasible. Halifax is mentioned as being on the Southern island (well, New Halifax).
Are we talking about imaginary islands in the general area or a flooded geography, where there are more ilands due to higer water levels?
Has anyone figured it out?

Ah story progressed: centered around Nova Scotia as South island.

Happy Saturday all! We've seen Dawn in a prior development log, and the most recent one had the Soulspire previews. Since then, I've finished the lighting in the tower, acquired and rigged Dawn's clothes (pretty) well, and started putting together the first renders that are actually game-ready. I don't think I'll actually use any of these because there isn't a story behind them, but the actual process for CGs will be the same.
Making these renders led me to make even more fixes and upgrades, which was an expected part of the process; it's the first time I'm doing this, after all. These are all raw images straight from Blender, so the only post-processing done was the built-in denoiser at the end of the render. I'm especially happy with the lighting; I didn't use any spotlights or funky lighting tricks because the scene lighting just works so well as is.
Now that I've got a good idea of how to do this stuff, I'm pivoting more towards the technical side of things, specifically towards finalizing game mechanics. I'm 99% sure I know what I want them to be, but I'm gonna put them down in code and finalize them over the upcoming week. That'll finally allow me to start working on some of the game art; I can't really make art for a game until I know what I need for that game. For example, once I finalize what the exact areas will be, I can start making renders of those areas. There will still be a good number of full-screen renders (like PoP) for important scenes and interactions, but simple/repeating scenes, navigation, etc. will be done with a background + sprite setup, so I need those BGs.

What does the pregnancy entail, is there just a Maria pregnancy and marriage ending or is they're also a harem pregnancy and marriage ending?

Been playing the game. Reached chapter 7's "Confession Scene" so far.
The story is enjoyable, but I definitely wish there was far more player agency.
What made me come to post was this scene: Does it look like there is a face looking at them from beyond the window to anyone else? It is hidden, and might be not intended, but I found it interesting nonetheless

PS: If Emilia turns out to be evil and did everything she was accused of all along that would honestly be the best plot twist XD. Maybe even Maria's change of heart about her after she woke up was because of a spell?
So I continued playing, reached Chapter 18 now (the same chapter that the guy last page quit at for some reason?) and saw this statement about Emilia:
Yeah. Unless Emilia explicitly states in a future conversation when she started spying on them (and even then she might be lying to soften the blow), I think it is very fair to assume that she was the one spying on them in the barn (Maria didn't notice it then, hence it not being among the two times she knows of). That means that the face was inserted as subtle foreshadowing, and the reason the face's features in the image aren't clearly hers is that this was intentional, so in case someone noticed it (like I did) when the chapter was still new they wouldn't be able to conclusively know who it was with some image manipulation and spread the picture, thus spoiling the surprise.
