The majority voted goblin because the majority was a patreon because of the first game. The outcome of the vote was already set before it was created.
So... the people who pay for the game get what they are paying for, but that is now a bad thing?

They already did, didn't they, with the first game? Might have even attracted new patreons if the game continued to go with a different route.

I think a goblin makes more sense in these games because there's like 30 different attributes to being gross and getting the princess addicted to goblin filth or whatever.

I dont know if new attracting new patreons is even a valid point. If his patreons voted for the goblin, then its a better idea to go with it, because they are already paying. If the dev would still change it to a human, then some of the patreons might just leave and there is no guarantee, that new patreons will join or that the number even increases.
I personally did not play the first game because i did not like the looks of it. I think this new version is a big improvement in terms of looks and this alone made me try the game. I can imagine, that a lot of the patreons would also be happy about this upgrade, since they get the game they paid for but in a better quality. And ultimately it is the devs decision what they do with their game. If they want to make the same game again and again, then they are free to do so.
Sure, you can comment on what you dont like about the game or what you think would be better, but depending on how you comment on it, it might just come of as demanding.

I think you misunderstood. The game started out with a human mc.
Oh i know that, since that version is still available in the OP, but still there was a change because the patreons voted for it. My point was, that it would not have been better if the dev decided to go against the vote by sticking with a human. My wording on "still change it to a human" might have been a bad choice, i can see that.

At first, I wanted to keep the MC from Game 1, but that would’ve gone against TOS, so I had to come up with someone new. I wasn’t totally sure about going with a human but decided to try it. After the release, there weren’t really any complaints, in fact, a lot of people liked the new human MC and shared thoughtful feedback, which made me reconsider things. I started to feel that a goblin MC might be a way better fit, and honestly, I was more than ready to make that change. The poll was mostly just to get everyone’s approval for it. So, the human MC will no longer be in the game.

I was going to come here and say how this game has potential and how I would gladly support the dev by donating monthly to it, until I got to the damn part about "washing yourself so the princess can teach you how to read". From the moment you have to read a 'step by step' on a pirate site because the game didn't explain it to you inside it, that explains why it's a game because the game is very poorly instructed, this game is very poorly intuitive.
