In the swamp. I haven't played the game in a long while, so I forget which screen in the swamp. However, I'll edit the post to let you know which screen.
Edit: I got to the dog. The dog is on the last screen of the swamp on the right side. Stick to the most right side of the screen until you see a chest. The dog will be in the same area as that chest.
