Did you, by any chance, extract 0.4 to the same directory as 0.3, overwriting existing files?
Yep! The concept of an edict is lifted directly from Tyranny.
I never intended this to be a plot point - Frim already has the key - but yeah, I've yet to inform the player of this by adding the key to the inventory (it will be there from the start, the "got item" screen will never show up for it).

I love your comments in your patch notes, made me chuckle a bit. Just for that, I'm going to follow this project more closely, might even support on Patreon after a few more updates (and IRL pay days).

Did you give a 1-star review because the game that constantly warns you that its savegames aren't compatible between versions doesn't have savegames that are compatible between versions?
To anyone reading, the savegame compatibility is not a low priority, though. Princess Tower is significantly more mechanics-heavy than most Ren'py porn games and internally there's a lot of OOP Python going on, which does not play well with Renpy's (extremely powerful) savegame functionality. Someone more skilled with Renpy's saving and Python's pickling systems could probably have built this game in a way that it has savegame compatibility from version 0.1, but I can only be the person that I am.
Right now it looks like compatible savegames might start with 0.5 at the earliest, but probably more likely 0.6 or 0.7. I'm working on a roadmap for the game, which will include at least one rework in the middle of development that is planned to break savegame compatiblity again for one update, but I'm hoping to make that update beefy and fun to replay.

This is an interesting new game that i will be watching closely as it develops. The hand drawn art is nice, our princess is really cute!
I also like the punishment mechanics even though the game is still in early development i can see the potential there. Finally there is a good dose of humor and i like the story as it goes sofar.

1. If you change the directory structure, rename and/or delete stuff, you'll run into bugs when save/loading. So avoid that
2. Ren'Py has quite a few save/load quirks documented.
3. You can use the
afterload label to fix stuff which changed between versions - but ensure you are saving the version somewhere so you can see what needs fixing.4. Failing all that: Change the savegame folder in options.rpy - Doing this, savefiles from older versions won't be offered for loading.

I would love to see our princess teased and denied like this. Maybe some magic so she can't do anything even with the belt off.
This is the first game I've added to my watch list. Even though it has very limited content right now, what it has shows incredible promise. I love the fact that you're approaching this slowly, with the corruption really focusing on her mental state and the slow pushing of it in the direction we want. Solely for that reason, this is probably the best trainer I've played. I play h-games because they're more of a journey than just straight up porn, and this game delivers that super well.
