I haven't checked their patreon in forever...last time I checked it, it was at $7,000...so I thought you made a typo.
Went to check and see and yep...they really are making $17,000 a month.
Ero has been making over 7k per month since Jan 21, ironically his money doubled when he started producing more H animations on a regular basis. A good site to see how much he earns is here

Patreon take a cut, then the bank transfer fee and some Gov tax dept's have spotted Patreon (e.g. Sales Tax). So the money won't go just to him, then he has to pay animators. But probably 10k in his pocket currently, probably up to him if he wants to pay income tax. Nice wage but he does have the potential problem of more motivated competition in the future. For example that Holy Knight Ricca game was built on a similiar structure and seemingly quick development.

TBH I'm less bothered about the income but about what the game is planned to be; 5 levels, 20 enemies, 50 animations etc. Ero keeps it all mysterious and implies more.

Getting all huffy about the money is pretty ridiculous when it's all freely given through a non-exploitative system(the pledge tiers don't promise anything special) where people just go "dang those are hot characters" and hand over 5 bucks. We do tend to short circuit around sexual things and become way more impulsive, sure. But this whole thing is as big as it is because of the quality of the characters and animations that people really want to see more of.

The worrying thing about the project is that seems massively unfocused at this point. He's introduced 4 female enemies, for example, and created a "battle damage" mechanic for the first one implemented. Except you can't initiate any contact with her, and she disappears when she's beaten, just like everyone else, even though she's naked with her butt in the air. You don't have to be a... female enemy enthusiast for that to be a deeply frustrating turn of events. The game invites you to look at her, she's great to look at, but they make it impossible to do so.

Why? Cause this WAS a 'dudes rape the hot female PC' game. Still is, mechanics wise. But since every female enemy he makes is hot as hell, they get lots of attention. So he's focused on them. But there's no change in mechanical focus. Since the development is currently focused on designing and implementing these enemy characters, Onyx herself kinda languishes. She doesn't have any other outfits, hair styles, or combat skills, when she should be the main focus because she's the one all sexual activity is initiated against.

There's a lack of mechanical sophistication and focus here that makes me wonder about the project at its heart. The animation and character design is top notch, but they just don't seem to know what to do with it. It wouldn't do better with less money because it'd then be scrambling to appeal to donors, not focused on finishing the game. It needs management and vision.

It's amazing that the only people left who care about that stuff all run credit card companies.
Dude, there's probably no sector more conservative than banking. Though in this case they are not driven by morals (like your average redneck) but by fear of losing profits.

The very basis of modern banking is stuff made way back in the 50s and 60s and there's a huge reluctance to move anywhere if there's even a hint of risk.
Innovation? Forget it, it must be secure and stable above all else. That's why credit card companies are so strict about porn and all - there's always a risk of some social backlash for allowing such operations to take place within their environment (just look at China and Russia - these countries will always use this as an excuse to push their agenda in their battle with "social degeneracy" - whatever it means)...and that can hurt profits and the public image of every corporation...and profit is everything here.
