I understand everyone's furstration, lack of faith, and any negative energy towards to dvs on this, scam this and that.
I literally got in this forum because of this game... i had no idea what was going since... 2017?
the overall presentation of this freaking game has to be praised no doubt.
BUT....
It just boggles my mind, why not 2 complete levels at least?
why everytime a new update, everything you do in last version, you gotta do everything all over again?

It makes me go back in time, when streets of rage remake was beeing done... they took years to finish the game, BUT YOU STILL HAD LEVELS TO PLAY! They were still working on the game, but you still had play features.
The demo when it came out, me and my best friend played for hours together , just the demo.
I can even say this game is a demo.
I believe more, people are paying not for the game updates, but for the new fuck scenes on gallery.
They say the fix stuf......which i still never had issues at all. Not say, that someone else indeed might have issues ,but i am guessing teh majority of people here, don't really ever had any of the issues they say they fix.

Anyone knows Matt Mcmuscles from youtube?
cause this game falls on his "What happened?" investigative videos

I disagree.
Matt Mcmuscles "What happun?" series analyzes the reasons why games failed. Sometimes it's incompetence, sometimes it's corporate interference, sometimes it's just mismanagement and other times it's a combination of all of the above.
Pure Onyx is not a game. Just like its predecessor (MatM) this is just a good looking vertical slice designed to attract "paypigs" who know nothing about videogames.
There was a time when I thought Eromancer was just incompetent. But that ship sailed long ago. As long as he's in charge (and making hand over fist money) Pure Onyx will be nothing more than a good looking gallery.

There's a monetization style that a couple western developers seem to do in which they essential sell the "working version" of a game indefinitely, and they use their subscription platform as a way to slowly leak content which keeps subscribers engaged and putting in money.

It isn't the game itself that brings the paycheque (though it eventually will also do that), but giving subscribers the ability to be involved with the production itself. Eromancer, for instance, is very social to his subscribers and gives them the feel that they are attached to the dev cycle, and Eromancer always gives the deadline of "soon" when it comes to completion.

Not to say they just straight up are not working on the game, because they are, but it's how they went literally more than a decade without a legitimate game release. And why they are continuously adding more features instead of doubling down on trying to finish the game. Don't forget, this game was a means to the end of financing MATM, but the devs clearly aren't in any rush to ship it which tells us all we need to know. Another developer of this style comes to mind, almost to a T.

The game isn't what they are selling. They are selling the production of it. And, frankly, they're doing quite well doing so.
To play devils advocate but given how fickle and entitled some fans and subs are it makes some sense for people like Eromancer to milk them for the suckers they are. I don't condone it but if more people of better character voted with their wallets it would make this industry so much better. Until people get wise and fed up of supporting such grifters and support devs that are passionate and sincere in creating good H-games this is the industry they are supporting.

And I don't see that changing for a very long time.

This is somewhat, a throw back in age ever since Eromancer doing Patreon in a paid-per-updates manner.

That is anything post in the dashboard, be it game or artwork, you'll get charged. Me, in my good faith were charged $10 for two time, one for latest demo updates of MATM, another is artwork, and then I stop pledge since I have achieve the $20 milestone for pre-buy the game on release.

What a time that was ... when you put it like that, this might be how they, or he intended all along. This project is least about game, and more about being unique from of gallery with extra step ... just like most CGs RPG where you can hold a single spacebar button just to unlock a gallery.

What difference is that, those 'gallery' of a game are finalized and finished. Maybe some has a cool or good story to tell :HideThePain:

I agree, and I don't actually fault for some devs for doing it. In this market, if people are willing to pay, then fair enough.

What I have no patience for is when the dev leads on, bait and switches, or arbitrarily moves the goal posts using verbal gymnastics (aka "you think I said *this* when it came to a deadline [and actually did] but REALLY I said *this* [and it is small insignificant thing]- but don't worry, that first thing I said *is* coming soon but cant say when so make sure you keep subbing").

Eromancer is far from the worst about this as I find him pretty transparent compared to some others, but that's a pretty low bar to set.

Hire a hacker to fully release the game. He finished the game 100% and is just milking it rn. Otherwise idk what to say. This will get abandoned once he notices subs going downwards and then start a new project and milk it again, endless cycle.

Im assuming its one guy making a game whcih can take a long time especially if you want quality. I cant give a complete free pass as I heard they have been working on other things as well. Either way the game would do well if its ever completed.

You're assuming wrong. There are 20+ people involved in the project (although most of them are freelance artists)
2 years ago they had only 1 programmer, now they have 3 (according to sources that can't be trusted)
That is, assuming Eromancer's reports are true. Which is also questionable
