Thanks for the clarification! Curious, how much time would you think planning, writing, coding, posing and rendering static renders for the bonus scenes entails?

Various parts of the scene were voted on by patrons during the usual dev time of the episode, so that kinda took the time needed to plan it. Writing was on Joshua's side but I think it took him couple of days at most. He is far ahead in the main script anyway. Coding was like 2-3 days done in the meantime while rendering of the animations happened. Taking it all into the account, such extra scene takes about 2 weeks to do from scratch.

I will say this I never liked the idea of extra scenes being locked behind a higher tier than what you would need for a basic tier to get access to the game as it almost feels like DLC when it comes to AVN's. Yet if it's only 1-2 weeks not a big deal at all then as it is a nice gesture to those that support the dev beyond the basic tiers. Still would like it more if it was time exclusive but this is my gamer side talking after playing to many EA and Ubisoft games lol.

UndergroundStudio I have a question about the extra scene will people that buy the game on steam when it comes out on steam get access to it or is it gonna be sold like a dlc type of deal?

We don't plan making extra scenes as DLC's. That's not set in stone yet but most likely you'll get everything for the Steam base price of the game.

not as far as I know. I know they had another game before some kind of fall out with someone then they made this game. Yet to play the other game forget the name of it but wish it was never dropped as I did love the premise of it alot more from what I can recall yet if it wasn't for that game being dropped we would never get Allision. I much rather have Allision any day of the week as she feels more unique than most LI out there.

ah nah was comparing dev time working on the extra scene to combat against burnout compared to someone like Ocean who is making 2 games. but that was before the dev said it only takes like 2 weeks so that comparison is pointless now.

Yeah, I knew about that planning phase since my tier has the benefits for voting on bonus scenes.

Wasn't knocking you guys at all since you guys are team in making this project which would make things faster. Just that other posters here have posted things that conflicts their previous other statements.

Even if people are saying "don't do this or that" you guys should always stay on what you've planned. 'Cause 9 times out of 10, the developers' end goal are always gonna be better.

Anyways, I'm enjoying your game. Kudos!

Well, I don't mean to be rude but you're speaking for yourself, buddy. The high tiers pledges voted and paid for those extra scenes, so like it or not it does matter. Personally I don't mind those extra scenes at all.

Extra scenes are great. who cares what's canon. The story can progress all the same, lewd scenes just add something for the supporters, and a bit extra so we don't have to wait to get a nice lewd scene

Also for those complaining about animations in general. Animations in lewd games have come a long way. Some are crap. But the ones ROL are really well done and put together, complimenting the static renders. Animations are here to stay

The more I play these things, my tastes have changed. I used to be all about good stories and cared little about the renders even lewd scenes.

Now, I'm at a point that I've seen so many VNs with outdated daz models, bad posing, little to no visual improvements, and the same boring ass stock sex animations, that even if the story is decent, bad or lazy visuals just ruin it for me. I'm really at a point that high quality renders and (preferably custom) visually stunning girls are becoming more and more the most appealing thing for me. To use another VN as an example: Lessons in Loyalty. I couldn't give a fuck less about the story but holy fuck are the girls hot. Not the best VN overall, but the cake is enough for me to come back every update..

Besides that, I like good characters that I can give a shit about, good romances and character relationships, and enjoyable character interactions. At this point for me, the storyline can be shit but as long as it gets the characters together then it's done it's job as far as I'm concerned.

If a VN has all that and has a decent story, then it's top tier for me. That's why I like Race of Life. It checks all the boxes for me. Good characters, great polish, and hot girls and lewds. So RoL is easily in the convo with some of the best VNs imo.

The reason why I have the opposite opinion and approach. Cause the first 2 months yes I did play these for the porn but it isn't about that anymore for me. It Is because good characters can make me feel things I normally don't , I just get more invested into a story or their growth. No game or movie has been able to capture that within me or not very many do while alot of AVN do.

That and I can get more invested and into a character like Allie or Jasmine much easier than a movie. Also to use ROL as an example there is alot of personal interpretation that goes into how we read a scenario in a AVN. Nothing makes me ever really think about a character deeply like that other than these games.

Here is an example that come to mind to me. On the love path for Allie at the end of the date when the MC stays the night and he leaves. That scene said to me Allie was excited to see the MC in the morning, then sad when he wasn't there but happy when she read the note like she wanted to give him another chance. Not everyone would see the scene the same way as me especially if they are only playing her path for content and dislike her. No movie, tv show or game has managed to capture that for me.
