It's not at all illogical, and it's not that people "don't get it", it's just that there are two different sets of opinions. Neither of them is wrong, they just don't coexist. Some people can see it one way, maybe their life experiences give them extra insight into a certain situation, or maybe they're just a sucker for that type of thing. Other people see it another way, potentially for the same reasons. That's fine, but having the two different viewpoints doesn't mean that one of them has to be wrong.
