Meh, believe me, like most things, it's a matter of money. If you have good hardware, you'll get good results yourself eventually. I managed to make some good renders myself, after reading a bit about lighting, but the fact that my GPU only has 4 GB of RAM means I can't render anything anymore, save maybe 1 human figure floating in the void, because adding a room or any environment would eat up all the video RAM.

The only way this would work is if he would be developping scene by scene. It is rarely the case tbh. If you know the same place will be used multiple time through a chapter, you would usualy render all the scenes using this environment at the same time, so it would not necessarily be playable after X month.
What you describe can only work for devs that develop scene by scene and release what they have on a predefined schedule (for example Faerin releases the last Friday of each month the scenes he has completed during the month)

Your argument is stupid and it's not even the same. Who's getting scanned? The patrons? It's not like they are clueless. Making games with very little monetary coming in is not an alternative to full time job.

Phew. It seemed like people stopped caring for a while there, but I'm glad this thread is getting spicy again. It helps pass the time while waiting for SirD to do something.

GRRM IS a scammer. He's literally willing to work on anything and everything EXCEPT the series of books he's contractually obligated to finish. (A contract that has already been paid out to him btw)
Providing updates would go along ways and is something both parties are more than capable of providing, and should be, yet are failing to do. SirD's activity on X isn't something that would necessarily effect his work on the game, and he has every right to be critical of practices in the gaming industry as the rest of us. I'd even argue that he is obligated to do so since the practices he's specifically arguing against are actively trying to target the type of content he's developing himself, and that we are all enjoying from this website.
I'm as frustrated and impatient as everyone else here. The entire VN industry is failing to deliver in a timely manner at this point and it would really be nice if someone would address why it's suddenly taking everyone so much longer now than it was in the past.

Was George given any sort of time frame in which to finish? If he wasn't, then the only time frame is "Before he dies".
World complexity, pressure, scrutiny, his writing style and his own perfectionism are all valid reasons as to why it's taking him as long as it has with The Winds of Winter. He's also stated that his lack of easy writing days (when everything just flows super nicely) are few and far between.
When you take all of that together with the fact that he is involved in other projects, we start to get a clearer picture with less rage.
His latest estimate, however, is that he's ¾ of the way there.
Also not everyone here is as frustrated as you. I know that I have other things to occupy my time and mind with.

In which case he is only "scamming" the publisher (and they could sue him if they wanted to, so I assume they are fine with all the money he has made for them to date, including with all those other books he has written (instead of the next book of ASoIaF) which also had contracts). He certainly hasn't scammed me.
In the case of Radiant, the only people who have a claim to be scammed by SirD are his financial supporters (a group that I assume pretty much everyone involved in this discussion does not belong to) and they are free at any time to stop giving him money every month (which is what I did long ago when I realized how slowly this game was going to be updated).

His activity on X, arguing about the gaming industry and other random shit,
is kinda like spitting in the face of all his supporters, that expect some kind of communication from him.
The only time he replies to anything, is if you talk about Bad RPGs, ugly game-characters, politics etc.
See, if you hit him up about his AVN, either he doesn't reply, or you get blocked.
So all in all, sure.. He is free to do whatever he wants, but pullin' 4,000+ dineros a month,
from people he has absolutely no interest in communicating with, is extremely disrespectful.
I don't support inconsistent devs whatsoever, but if i was one of those unfortunate ones.
It would be horrible to see the person i support, clearly showing no signs of interest in the people who support him.
As a non-supporter, i don't really have the right to be angry about this.
But honestly, none of the supporters are speaking up, so i feel like somebody has to.
I hope his supporters some day realise, that he is 100% abusing the shit out of them.
The only way for this guy to learn, is to lose a majority of his support, which i sincerely hope happens.
He needs a wake-up call.

I've come to the realization that SirD & Radiant probably isn't going to change it's going to have it's bad and good update times, no matter how we feel or what we say will not change this, I take everything the way the wind blows now no sense in getting upset anymore. As for milking or his supporters we really don't know how or what he is doing to keep them happy, but he is and managed too even when this game was abandoned here and update hit 15 months his supporter base stayed solid only losing minimal supporters and bounced back after update. No I don't support this and would love to see at least 2 if not 3 updates a year but I'll laugh at 3 and hope for 2 is what it is
