Both are included in the patch download, but you can omit one or the other depending on your preference (Taboo is just patch.rpy, True is truepatch.rpy plus the images/videos).

So you can add both if you so desire? I find the references to 'ward' a bit silly, but I'm liking the darker path parts.

Vanessa? umm. was that the mc's old gf? i think that happened before we start playing as him. offscreen. like after he recovered but before the story picks up where it does and we start meeting all the daughters and other girls.

I think what has caused confusion is that it used to show "true taboo" on the front page if you had both. Now it just says true.
