That's fake news and an edited quote. He said "take it to off topic" which I assume is another channel on the discord which I believe can also be seen by everyone.

Sure, but most people stick with the official channel and not the off-topic one, which is why it's advantageous for SirD to "hide it" in off-topic. A lot of developers do that, on either Discord, or Steam, or what have you. It's sweeping the dirt under the rug, so to speak.
