This is the thing which I've brought up before. Take 3 months off work...see what happens. People know (ie, some devs) donations will still roll in regardless. The thing with these delays is that it's basically always the same thing: Mental health problems and while I don't say it isn't a valid point it gets old really quick, like playing the victim card constantly or things like "You don't agree with me 100%, so must be any kind of -ist or -phobe or maybe a Nazi." After that it's for the most part the same pattern, "I have <insert mental health thing>" and then comes a couple for months of radio silence, but maybe I just don't understand some people's thought process or maybe I'm just different, I don't just put my whole life on pause if something unexpected or unfortunate happens.
I've had a nervous breakdpwn after my step-father died...wasn't in a good way (thankfully a long time ago now) but guess what? Unless you're in your moms basement, people die, life doesn't stop....and unfortunately shit still needs dealing with. I wouldn't have a problem at all if they had stopped their patreon. Need the money, that's what insurance is for if you're trying to be a full time dev. Bet your ass they went full time relying on donations yet didn't cover their ass in the eventuality of not being able to work. Like self employed people (of which I have been for many years) moaning about covid. What would they have done if they broke their back and couldnt work for 6 months? Up to each individual to cover their own ass in case things go south I'm afraid, not rely on everyone else.
