We're not in the SFM era anymore, rendering things takes a long ass time. The more detail heavy you get, the longer it takes.
Why does X take 6 months to make 15 while X takes 12 to make 5? Different settings, different styles.
Dezmall had a vote for an animation which turned out to be Harley Quinn, ending in September 28th 2023. Its release: June 23rd 2024, 18:58 runtime

Logistics of 3d animation doesn't change whether it's porn or not.
"months for 2 mins" is perfectly normal. Bloodiest step imo, is rendering. It's 50-50 since it's all hardware and not entirely up to the animator. And sure does take a LOT of time (especially with a lot of effects going on in the scene).
Pretty sure this has been discussed in this thread before--but as an artist and a to-be animator, it just irks me and wouuld just like to air out a few things.
"Best available/possible tools" does not mean good/efficient tools. In fact, these creators are using some of the hardest and notoriously finicky software on the planet. One wrong setting... and an "entire days work rendering" is for the trash. Um... yeah... about 10 seconds (~300 frames) worth. I truthfully believe that these animators are all just bit "off" and possibly 10-steps closer than the most of us (even the chronic gooners).

In these versions, I removed the story bits and left only the hardcore action.
Plus, I did a little color grading — now the picture pops with extra juice
