A adult game trying to penetrate steam.
Despite Steam down policy on violence and sexual, they still ban Rape Day
What is Steam's mean ?

Steam has been shaky on any adult games, even when they said they'd let in anything thats not illegal. Visual novels are blocked fairly often by them and anything with a loli in it basically. Even if it has no H or echii at all.

Gabe put himself in a compromising position (bent over) when Valve created Steam. Other game companies would not use Steam, if Valve games had preferential treatment, hence no Half Life 3, cutting his own dick off with a non-compete agreement.

Don't expect Steam to stand up for anything, they couldn't even if they wanted to.

Wouldn't surprise me if it really did end up being a bunch of trolls calling Valve onto the carpet. It does seem to be breaking into the mainstream press, but I think they're taking the same tack they did with Rapelay.

It's only a matter of time before someone in the mainstream press decides to roll the dice and do an exposé (can't believe I remembered the alt-code for e-with-accent) on porn video games. Frankly it's low-hanging fruit and I'm kinda surprised they haven't gone for it already--I think most folks would eat up news about unscrupulous perverts selling video games about shockingly young cartoon girls having sex with dogs. Wouldn't be any good for the indie adult games industry. My guess is that it's just ignorance--I bet a journalist could make a name out of "breaking open" adult video games in a series of pieces.

Yea, I'm surprised by the lack of press attention too. Maybe it's because sex is still such a taboo in many places in the world. Or maybe the world is desensitized by the porn industry which gets real hardcore too.

Valve is company with the intention to make money. They know, that a game like Rape Day means a lot of bad publicity with no or neglect-ably low profit. Clearly not worth the risk. An economic decision not a moral one.

I wonder, what they would do, if GTA 6 contained a rape scene.

Pressure Rockstar to remove it if the controversy is too bad, if it's just the same groups that already bitch and moan for every game with sexy females they won't give a fuck.

I wish the controversy was over a better game. One that isn't focused on rape, like maybe doesn't have it in the title. I think the waters do need to be tested on Steam, but with something a little less overtly offensive. A game that involves rape, even glorifies it, should be allowed on Steam at some point. I still think this was too edgy too soon (also crap). I will say that I don't think all the changes to Steam have been made yet that will allow them to have more adult content. Different parental locks and filters, etc. Last I heard many of those features were still in development.

Lets not pretend this is valve being little bitches. The game is one big troll, there is no "PC bullshit" reasons for this game to be not allowed on steam. Steam has actually been pretty cool about adult games in recent times, but there needs to be a limit of what is allowed on such a big and public platform. This absolute turd of a "game" is that limit.

Valve had some kind of rule against outright trolling. Of which Rape Day from all outside views looks to be a 100% low effort shock attempt and absolutely not the hill to die on for this kind of thing. The game looks like utter shit.

I think if say, were put up and taken down, then that would be a bit more difficult issue. Despite it's provocative title, it has a halfway decent story.

I think Steam's whole concept doesn't fit a game called "Rape Day". Steam is a gaming platform that encourages gamers to brag about their achievements. On the other hand, if you play Rape Day you don't want your family and friends to know.

Lots of people keep bringing up some bizarre "troll" clause, as if that is some kind of escape plan to avoid criticism of censorship. Valve released a statement on Rape Day, their "trolling" rule isn't what got the game removed, nor it's low quality(not like the majority of RPG Maker/DAZ Render spam is any better). They think the game will cause "harm" to it's platform and it's partners. They confirmed it was 100% due to the outrage and response. No matter which way you spin this, it won't make any sense as anything other than censorship.

It's one thing if you live in a big brother state like the UK or Sweden, fine. But if any of these posters are from the US, I'll be sorely disappointed in...well, whatever the hell this is.
