Well, I did it, lads, lasses and everyone inbetween and to the side! Made Darja's dream come true, buddied with Malagar, gathered all the hordes, knighted Maelys and (with some help of good ol' mini-maxing) brought the Realm into levels of prosperity previously unseen.
Anyway, with the summary done, let's get to nitty-gritty. And longy-ranty. And just a veritable sheet of text. Because I am a prolific sheeter.
Most of the run was just that - a really good run. The downsides is that I minimaxed suboptimally and also left out Mina and M-Ann. I think I could have gotten the same stats and kept Mina and leaving M-Ann was absolutely a mistake. But other than that? Near-perfect run. At least Malagar does not create a local mini-Apocalypse each time I used his help during conquest. Something a certain High-Chamberlain of the Infernal Courts could learn from - well, if it wasn't so calamitously inclined.
Darja is sugary sweet and just someone you want to make happy when learning about her some more. I was taken aback a bit at just how sweet she turned out to be, honestly. Real sweel gal - and silly as a clown-painted brick.
I knew her rule would be... Challenging. I wasn't wrong. What I was wrong about is assuming Malagar would try to be a good influence on her. He wasn't. He fucked off to the Spire to cosplay Mengele. Darja is spending my treasury away and I can only hope devs would add an option to talk some sense into her. I don't want to sour her sweetness, but she is ought to become a financial Cataclysm and teach the Realm what Great Depression was all about.
Can't have that on my Benevolent Despot run. Embezzlement will wait until I try to run with Malice as a queen. Something tells me only a truly deranged dragon would marry his daughter and publicly piss on the law of the Realm.
But back to Darja to give her some more credit - she tries to learn the queenly ways. Honestly tries, puts a lot of efforts into that. I mean - that's her shtick. She puts efforts. If you tell her her painting needs work later on she will present you proper art. That's probably her best qualities - girls is a learner, despite her cloudy-headedness.
Honestly, her biggest downside is her taste in clothing. What is that hentai-mahoushoujo-ass-looking fabric horror that she's wearing?!
Maelys... Oh boy... I think you kinda need Darja for her to work things out. And also pass both checks when fighting her - something playthrough should've been more clear about.
Her scenes with Darja and her scenes in general were very nice and sweet with a tint of melancholic bitterness and hope. To make her bloom anew from a husk she was - that's an experience more rewarding that even making Darja's dream come true. Helping her overcome the tragedies of her life was an journey most satisfying. To see light shine anew in her eyes was divine.
Just don't pick the other options, please. Poor Huntress deserve more than becoming dead inside. Don't stick your dick into her and she'll be okay - especially do not do this if she asks for it.
Now, the only path I haven't tried was Malice-ing her up. I mean - I did that on a very old playthrough, but I think new content was added since so it does not count anymore.

Well, he's also local Mengele-Frankenstein with no regard to proles' life. When demons from Inferno or eldritch Proteans take people for their nefarious means, it's one thing - it is expected. Malagar does the slightly more civilized form of 'rounding up to the camps', taking, in his words, people whose disappearance will make the world a better place. Such as criminals down to pettiest of sorts and even random drunkards from the streats.
You thought Mengele reference was forced? It wasn't - Malagar literally parrots nazis. The undesirables shall be used as science fodder for the uber gutt, meine drako fuhrer.
Never a dull option in this game, am I rigth, fellas? Crazy evil scientist, eldritch abominations from beyond the beginning of times and literal demons who make most of 40k blush with how crazy they are. You can also spawn the cutest and most awe-inspiring world-ending menace to ever menace the world with its ending.
But at least Malagar has probably - just probably, I admit - the lowest chances and motivation to fuck you and the world up. Compared to Infernal Court that is anything but subtle in its intents and purposes and whatever the fuck Mother wants.
Also, he drops this banger when discussing how essences prevents hybridization:
Our Realm is officially surrounded by sheep-fuckers.
Oh, and of course - he seems to actually care a lot about Darja. Which is sweet, even if I can already see someone arguing against his sincerity and selflessness on this topic.
And he's also very insightful into how the supernatural of the world works. Of course, it had to be more Platonic and less Aristotelian. And Malagar's explanations were, if anything, anticipated and expected. From divine stems the essence, which commands the form - and magic is whatever is done to the essence that transfers to the form.
God, that reminds me of Tardigrade Inferno's Clockwork God: "First it was the God Almighty, from the God came Soul Eternal, then the Soul commanded Body, Body made a Cog. From the Cog I'll make a Body, from the Spring I'll make a Mind, when the Mind becomes Almighty than it'd make a Clockwork God".
Malagar is the male version of that clip's protagonist and he's somewhere on: "Body made a Cog" stage. You can't change my mind.
Anyway, elves and dragons are just prisms for divine energies of respective sorts. They refract those energies, turning them specific. The specifics, of course, is magic innate to the divine creatures. Makes perfect sense why Zizeryx didn't just point out at the biggest palace in Inferon when you ask it about Sun's whereabouts. Sun is the primal force stretched through the entire existence, congregating in unusual numbers in Inferno and its denizens. Same must go for the Moon, same must go for Mother - only she decided for some reason to get involved in much more direct way. I think I should re-play her route and read her dialogues more carefully - there most be a reason why she specifically made that decision and not her children. Who, by all margins of sense, must have the same capacity for direct action.
There's also non-zero chance that divine power is uni-natural and Mother, Moon and Sun being only specific areas of its manifestation. A peaks of sorts, extremums.
And even less non-zero chance that Naga is the fourth corner of that square. End of the cycle to Protean beginning and Moon/Sun active phase. Malice, after all, is so dreadfully powerful that Zizeryx and the whole Court decide to bunker-up instead of fighting your daughter. They are no doubt powerful - but not powerful enough to beat her, it seems. Malice is, for all intents and purposes, deific in her powers - if not in formal status, then in practice for sure.
But that leaves the question of selkie.
Malagar takes Adeline's motherhood to gift Darja with. Why does that turns an unusual human woman into metamorphic eldritch horror when, as mentioned by Malagar, it didn't have the same effect on previous test subjects?
I am not asking the question of why selkie is the way it is. Selkies are manifestations of Calaclysm. Cataclysm, it seems, is melting of essences which in turn distorts the form. Winged boy and Deerie-Ann were just the beginning - beings whose essence was warped, but still recognizable, if messy. Selkie must be the logical apex of the process - beings whose essences were turned into primordial soup. If normal being is an answer to the question of "What am I?", the selkie is that question taken shape - of the lack of the latter, to be frank. And, most likely, what your Realm would look like with Malice running around it. I am most certain that whatever place saw the rise of previous Naga is now wiped from every census. Your Realm would be at Ground Zero, count your chances.
Back to the aforementioned question.
First answer is very simple and probably true - royal bloodline were made out of selkies given static forms by someone else. The most obvious option of Infernal Court being behind it is also not the most certain. We know that the elves helped establish the Realm - wisps talk about that. It seems that back then them and royal bloodline were pals - or, rather, the latter was their tool of conquest. It is very clear from Malagar-ed Heloise that they are not beyond such means, namely that Valzira planned to let you terrorise the Realm, probably to make it even more pliably to the Convocation. So the elves were somehow invovled, probably.
The second and much more fringe answer depends on whether or not Malagar used human test subjects. He says this:
And I am not certain what he meant by: "earlier experiments". Is it: "I used animal test subjects before switching to humans"? Or is it: "I tested it only on animals beforehand"? If anything, this line suggest the latter:
If he tested the process on human women, how did he missed the motherhood part of all things? No, it seems to me that whatever tests he committed did not involve a comparable enough test subjects. Otherwise, why would he be so surprised?
And if I am right on this assumption, the whole scarier possibility arises.
If Infernal Court of all people decide to hide during Cataclysm, it means even Inferno isn't safe from its consequences - and Zizeryx, discussing the matter, recalls that they didn't recognize the world when the returned to it the last time. Which may mean there would be no actual Ground Zero where the worst effects would be localized - even if your Realm would be the first to witness the effects, Cataclysm will eventually affect the entire world.
No safe places from Naga. It is possible that literally everyone who lived were affected. And you know what that means - if mutations were just the first step and the selkie is the apex of that effect...
It is entirely possible that selkie isn't just:
But a template to lifeforms itself. Including humans.
Which would mean that a human is just a selkie with set essential parameters. And when you affect human's essence to much, rip from it too much of...
The human may degrade back to the template. To the selkie.

Oh, and I also made my own proper Ravager waifu tierlist.
I will elaborate on the reasons: 'Why?'. This is a threat and a warning both.
SS-Tier.
-Malice - she's Malice. The Cutest End of The World. The Daddy D-Rider. Anyone who does not put her into S-tier or above is a heretic. Heretics are plus-plus not nice.
S-Tier.
-Heloise - she's Heloise. She's the best Naga mom. She's cool and she makes being uppity cool. That's a damn achievement if you ask me.
-Maelys - lot of options, lot of route, very sweet healing arc. She's also a cool assassin who could destroy your enemies while they sleep. And she gives the best feet.
-Enid - I can't get enough of that fearless grumpy housewife. She's probably the only character that will say to dragon's face: 'Suck on this, draggo' and the 'draggo' be just sitting there like a scolded schoolboy. And she's really good and dedicated mom. If the elves weren't there, she would be at the forefront of the S-tier.
-Darja - so sweet she gives you diabetes through the screen. Very silly - sometimes in really stupid way. Somehow it makes her all the cuter. And she has the whole arc of her rise to success on your scalie back! Cute, diabetically so. Just be vary that her full potential depends on Malagar being around.
AA-Tier.
-Valzira - she's Valzira. I can't get enough of my pet cactus. She's the idea of hateboner made manifest in ironically boner-less way. Everything she says is either spoken in the most 'why do I have to deal with you idiot?'-bored tone ever or the Endless Litany of Insult: 'From Insult cometh Spite. From Spite cometh Loathing. From Loathing cometh Hateboner. From Hateboner cometh Smirk. From Smirk cometh Insult'. Why the coolest legion has the second lamest primarch?
A-Tier.
-Marie-Ann - she's really, really kind. And fucks beasts. And sometimes she's the beast you fuck. Why not higher? Her being kind-hearted zoophiliac is basically her whole shtick. Very one-line - but the line is awesome. Can see her in S-Tier as well.
-Adeline - on the second thought, it takes being exceptional asshole to piss her off enough for her to snap at you. Other than that, you will have probably the most supportive character in the game. And a really useful one too. She will be the pillar of your rule whatever it takes. Why not higher? Again - that's her whole shtick.
-Sabetha and Inej - they are dynamic duo with a surprising amount of depth to them. Both of them are cool, them together are extra-cool. Her kits are the sweetest. Why not higher? Their personalities are kinda mono-thematic. Sabetha is tongue'n'chick one, Inej is more serious one. But mostly my personal preference - I can see tham in the S-tier, they have a lot going on.
-Zizeryx - tits'n'cock and characteristic Infernal craziness. Why not higher? Characteristic Infernal craziness makes Zizeryx scary as all fucks. I do have boner for that creature, but it's a very scared boner.
-Chanwe - she has a lot going on, with several routes to pick from. Her pious route is by far one of the best character arc in the game - one of the few actual character arcs, in fact. Why not higher? Her heretical route is a fucking disaster. Don't turn her to the Goon Side of the Force, please!
-Mina - she has awesome Scottish accent that is just music to the ears, and too have a lot going on. Several way to recruit or capture her, several ways to treat her. She's cool character overall - and probably the most helpful. Why not higher? Dunno, honestly. She's S-tier material.
-Cooch - cute drunken brawler who can make booze from kobold cum and makes your nobles drink it. That scene is gold. Also a lot of contents with her. Why not higher? She's one of those one shtick characters.
-Chia - a very loyal, dutiful and humble person who isn't a coward. She's just a very decent person - that's it. World sits on the shoulders of humble giants like her. And that's VERY respectable. Why not higher? Well, that's it! She's a decent human being. Literally nothing more special.
-Naho - if Valzira's spite was kinda habitual, hers is very earned and personal. And unlike an immortal elf, wolfgirl has everything to risk angering a dragon - and yet persists even knowing it would harm her. Call it stupidity - and I did. But what happens when you talk to her later on in Act V? You learn why she hates Eburon - he and the pack cares only about bitches and power. Naho has something they lack - pride for her people, a sense of patriotism. She won't bow because you are not one of them and despises her pack for doing so. Her hate isn't empty - its a hate of someone whose life was ruined by some powerful foreigner with not a lick of care for the way of her people. Its a warranted hate - and one that could be respected. Why not higher? Well, that's basically the whole of Naho.
B-Tier.
-Eburon - good boy. That's it. His gay furry stuff is kinda weird, IMO. But scenes with Naho are hot. Shame that's all of him. When Naho of all people has more elevated mentality than you, you aren't doing well in that department.
-Issa - STOP HARMING MY HAREM BEHIND MY BACK, YOU LITTLE ADORING SNAKE! Also, not a clue as to what his plans are. Every time he's around I feel like walking on envenomed eggshells that are also a ticking nuclear time bomb.
-Rhea - sweet, but there is so little of her she's barely a character.
Not waifus but cool-Tier
-Malagar - he's Malagar. The mortal who's coming close to mastering divine. I don't need to tell more - he's probably the coolest character after Malice.
-Mother - she's Mother. Hot Cthulhu babe commanding the forced beyond mortal comprehension and a cool grandma to Malice. Sometimes makes me shiver - but that's kinda expected.

-Petruk - well, how can you not like your most faithful follower? Surprisingly competent guy that just gets shit done. A total silly-filly at times - honestly, he and Darja share a braincell - but still cool.
-Breaker - monomaniacal torture person. Living proof that kobolds can be legit scary in less numbers than 'a lot'. The most dedicated person in the whole Realm. May as well be a Terminator in disguise - you won't tell a difference personality-wise. Drako Sunner, come torture with me if you want your waifus obedient.

SS-Tier.
-Malice - she's Malice. The Cutest End of The World. The Daddy D-Rider. Anyone who does not put her into S-tier or above is a heretic. Heretics are plus-plus not nice.
S-Tier.
-Heloise - she's Heloise. She's the best Naga mom. She's cool and she makes being uppity cool. That's a damn achievement if you ask me.
-Maelys - lot of options, lot of route, very sweet healing arc. She's also a cool assassin who could destroy your enemies while they sleep. And she gives the best feet.
-Enid - I can't get enough of that fearless grumpy housewife. She's probably the only character that will say to dragon's face: 'Suck on this, draggo' and the 'draggo' be just sitting there like a scolded schoolboy. And she's really good and dedicated mom. If the elves weren't there, she would be at the forefront of the S-tier.
-Darja - so sweet she gives you diabetes through the screen. Very silly - sometimes in really stupid way. Somehow it makes her all the cuter. And she has the whole arc of her rise to success on your scalie back! Cute, diabetically so. Just be vary that her full potential depends on Malagar being around.
AA-Tier.
-Valzira - she's Valzira. I can't get enough of my pet cactus. She's the idea of hateboner made manifest in ironically boner-less way. Everything she says is either spoken in the most 'why do I have to deal with you idiot?'-bored tone ever or the Endless Litany of Insult: 'From Insult cometh Spite. From Spite cometh Loathing. From Loathing cometh Hateboner. From Hateboner cometh Smirk. From Smirk cometh Insult'. Why the coolest legion has the second lamest primarch?
A-Tier.
-Marie-Ann - she's really, really kind. And fucks beasts. And sometimes she's the beast you fuck. Why not higher? Her being kind-hearted zoophiliac is basically her whole shtick. Very one-line - but the line is awesome. Can see her in S-Tier as well.
-Adeline - on the second thought, it takes being exceptional asshole to piss her off enough for her to snap at you. Other than that, you will have probably the most supportive character in the game. And a really useful one too. She will be the pillar of your rule whatever it takes. Why not higher? Again - that's her whole shtick.
-Sabetha and Inej - they are dynamic duo with a surprising amount of depth to them. Both of them are cool, them together are extra-cool. Her kits are the sweetest. Why not higher? Their personalities are kinda mono-thematic. Sabetha is tongue'n'chick one, Inej is more serious one. But mostly my personal preference - I can see tham in the S-tier, they have a lot going on.
-Zizeryx - tits'n'cock and characteristic Infernal craziness. Why not higher? Characteristic Infernal craziness makes Zizeryx scary as all fucks. I do have boner for that creature, but it's a very scared boner.
-Chanwe - she has a lot going on, with several routes to pick from. Her pious route is by far one of the best character arc in the game - one of the few actual character arcs, in fact. Why not higher? Her heretical route is a fucking disaster. Don't turn her to the Goon Side of the Force, please!
-Mina - she has awesome Scottish accent that is just music to the ears, and too have a lot going on. Several way to recruit or capture her, several ways to treat her. She's cool character overall - and probably the most helpful. Why not higher? Dunno, honestly. She's S-tier material.
-Cooch - cute drunken brawler who can make booze from kobold cum and makes your nobles drink it. That scene is gold. Also a lot of contents with her. Why not higher? She's one of those one shtick characters.
-Chia - a very loyal, dutiful and humble person who isn't a coward. She's just a very decent person - that's it. World sits on the shoulders of humble giants like her. And that's VERY respectable. Why not higher? Well, that's it! She's a decent human being. Literally nothing more special.
-Naho - if Valzira's spite was kinda habitual, hers is very earned and personal. And unlike an immortal elf, wolfgirl has everything to risk angering a dragon - and yet persists even knowing it would harm her. Call it stupidity - and I did. But what happens when you talk to her later on in Act V? You learn why she hates Eburon - he and the pack cares only about bitches and power. Naho has something they lack - pride for her people, a sense of patriotism. She won't bow because you are not one of them and despises her pack for doing so. Her hate isn't empty - its a hate of someone whose life was ruined by some powerful foreigner with not a lick of care for the way of her people. Its a warranted hate - and one that could be respected. Why not higher? Well, that's basically the whole of Naho.
B-Tier.
-Eburon - good boy. That's it. His gay furry stuff is kinda weird, IMO. But scenes with Naho are hot. Shame that's all of him. When Naho of all people has more elevated mentality than you, you aren't doing well in that department.
-Issa - STOP HARMING MY HAREM BEHIND MY BACK, YOU LITTLE ADORING SNAKE! Also, not a clue as to what his plans are. Every time he's around I feel like walking on envenomed eggshells that are also a ticking nuclear time bomb.
-Rhea - sweet, but there is so little of her she's barely a character.
Not waifus but cool-Tier
-Malagar - he's Malagar. The mortal who's coming close to mastering divine. I don't need to tell more - he's probably the coolest character after Malice.
-Mother - she's Mother. Hot Cthulhu babe commanding the forced beyond mortal comprehension and a cool grandma to Malice. Sometimes makes me shiver - but that's kinda expected.

Have you tried promising to him "more bitches"? He's got a pretty great scene with a baroness after the palace is conquered. It's also funny to see the different ways Darja/Malice/Adeline react to it.

Also, that wasn't the best possible Darja Queen route. You gotta keep her not-pregnant so that her womb would remain fresh for your true-blood progeny.
The way I understand it, Naga are less of an ending and more of a return to the beginning. Both Mother and Malice hold divine energy in its pure, unsorted, undefined form. Don't wanna say anything more of the relation between the Protean and Malice, since you said you wanted to play the path again. Just make sure you bring your cute daughter into the world as if anyone plays this game and doesn't.

Yeah, precisely. The beginning and the end in this case seems to have more or less the same nature. Primordial chaos of shifting essences is what Proteans have risen from and also what Malice's Cataclysm creates.
And yes, I more or less recall this part from my previous Protean run. Mother being grandma to Malice is among the best moments of this game. I just do not remember Mother's stance on things in Act V and some finer details. It's like with selkies - you can just skip Malagar's explanation and be non the wiser. I must miss something like that in Protean run.
But I do appreciate your reluctance to spoil the run.

Well, on my run, Eburon did end up saying "Behold, a king that honours his pledges!" to the entire court when I told him I intend to keep my promise... and let him demonstrate it on the baroness. I found that to be more interesting than just throwing him rejects from my personal harem. And it does seem like the game rewarded me for my choice by giving me the scene with the baroness.
Maybe? Eburon does end up taking her with him, so I expect more content featuring her in the next few updates. After all she did get a portrait and even a name, Katharen, so I assume she's not planned to be just a one note character.

I hope so. Normally I'd be steadfastly against adding new girls, as they take away from the characters we actually wanna see, but chapter 2 may as well be a sequel with a completely different feel. A new set of characters would really help make the world much larger.
Plus, all the og girls already got a fully fleshed out consort route, so there's no lack of content for your favorite warm hole. Or maybe it's just me who is satisfied since my wife Heloise recently got an updated sprite and I've been riding on that victory ever since, who knows.

I backtracked sooo fast when I saw what Adeline was becoming so idk too much about Selkies... However it seems what shoggoths really are aren't the ultimate form of evolution from the cataclysm, but the one you get when you lose your identity, your willpower completely. Or when you get it drained out of you. Cause M-Anne and flying boi pretty much just willed their dreams into existence. And we know will and belief matter a lot from earlier studies.
All in all I agree Very Much with the idea of Selkies being the template for living things, it feels very convincing in the history of the lore of this universe.
What i think we can hope, is that some ppl won't return to Selke because they either are too ignorant of changes or too strongwilled to just give in and lose their self.
The Cataclysm is obviously worldwide and without ground zero to me, and I expected a lot more of furious Elves and neighboring Kingdoms invading the dragon sandbox starting Act V. I mean... they have the Eclipse at home too, and im pretty sure that the Sun and Moon making out hard time isn't too pleasing to the Pale Convocation of Stuck Up Elves.
Sure we have a Malice now so any upsettie will be met with great Naga-saki.

Nice Tierlist too. I kinda put the ones I can't really talk some sense into in lower tiers [ Insert Enid, who annoys me, Malice, who I wish could be a tiny bit serious and not just freaky... I need to check up on my daughter sometimes, Naho-Valzira-Issa-Chanwe who are always down the blender for ressources for me, unless I hope I can have positive interactions with them... But Naho's gonna be in jail foreva and Issa just Doesn't Tell You Stuff. He's got Boundaries or some shit. Which I respect. For some reason. Still annoying tho. ]
Heloïse, Malice, Maëlys really are S-tier and worth every shenanigans. Really Heloïse is top of the food chain she rubbed off onto me too much I kinda do things like "e'she gunna lik'it ?" now, and she not uppity she just a girl who caught herself liking the randy dandy dragon I am, all educated she is. Can't blame her, i'm a damn randy dandy dragon dad.

You can't be serious... all those positions you mentioned are a significant downgrade from being queen of the realm. Shame on you.
Why waste a perfectly good pet? I did the sensible thing of turning her into a puppy and gifting her to Darja. Last time I checked Darja was planning to set up a "playdate" between Naho and Boof. Looking forward to see this scene implemented in a future update.
