Hey, guys. I actually do check this thread occasionally, but no, I still have no intent to become active here.
Thought I'd chime in on the sexual content debacle, seeing as the new update is almost finished and this place complains about it way more than anywhere else. I'm expecting a wave of moaning and 1/2-star reviews (which is pretty much a review rule 5 violation, but whatever.)
This game has a long fuse, always did. I'm having a very deliberate approach to both not ruin sexual tension, or do any kind of character assassination. It's not malicious, and it's not because I'm scared of sex or whatever the fuck.
But seriously, if, for example, the MC had sex with Chloe or Stella in the last or the upcoming update, how does that not feel like a 180 on their relationship? Not only that, but what kind of room is left for their relationship to develop? If you think you have an answer, that's cool, but when I weigh stuff like that against what I already have planned for the story/relationships, I really can't find a way to implement it without butchering the sexual pacing.
So then we have scene fodder, which can be used to supplement progress with the main girls. This is a personal one to me that we might just disagree with, I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. But my stance is basically that the MC losing his virginity to some side hoe or a prostitute is one of the fucking lamest things I could possibly do. Some of you wouldn't care and just want a scene to jork your shit to, but then your goals simply aren't aligned with mine. Some players will also share my viewpoint, I can't please everyone, so I'm sticking with what I think makes for more meaningful pacing. (On that topic, I kind of do regret making the main character a virgin for this exact reason, and now that decision carries baggage with it on my writing.)
"Erupt" is maybe a little much, but basically this. That's why earlier I said the game is a "long fuse" game, not a "slow burn" one. Once I get all this pre-amble and sexual tension out of the way, sexual development and pacing will go way up to something that aligns more with what most of you probably want.
I have loads of sex and sexual content planned out, quite literally in a text document, I just need to take the necessary steps to get there, and it's somewhat soon. The pussyfooting around sexual content and the main story is going to end at episode 3 i.e. the next update. I feel like this update I'm about to put out finishes out the waffling and tension-building I have planned. So yeah, sorry, more blue balling and shit for one more update. Dunno if warning you about that is better or worse. Starting with Episode 3, the plans contain at least one full-penetration scene per-episode, and that's a trend I very much hope to maintain for the rest of the game.
Also, the elephant in the room. A lot of frustrations with progression are tied to update times. I get it. But I'm not a fucking millionaire like some other devs, I'm not doing this maliciously. I don't develop this game full-time, I don't get external help despite trying to push as much quality as possible into multiple aspects, and this year in particular I've had issues such as being forced out of my workspace due to emergency repairs on my (rented) house, and the death of my father.
So sorry, I guess? For taking so long and for writing a slower story. I guess what I'm trying to say is try to just enjoy the ride I'm trying to take you on? Put your dick away if you really have to, or come back in 9 years when there's more content, I dunno, just adapt to your own expectations because I'm not going to. I know what story I'm writing, I know what my characters will do, I'm not flinching lest I risk harming the game due to crowdpleasing for a cheap pop instead of executing a plan.
If it's any consolation, the update after this one is planned out, and is way shorter and digestible, so while not making outright promises, I genuinely believe Episode 3 Pt 1 will be made in a matter of months. This aligns with the uptick in story/sexual development I wrote about a couple paragraphs up. The reason my updates are so big right now is because nothing is fucking happening and I'd rather put out 3 big updates of slow progression, than 20 updates of the same slow progression. Again, that might just be a me thing.
