It seems the dev's reply has been deleted, but I see from other responses that they said:
In this update they proved the opposite: Their first attempt to free the elf was incredibly stupid, doomed to failure, and predictably needed someone else to save them from certain death. While their second attempt was also incredibly stupid, doomed to failure, and predictably needed someone else to save them from certain death.
Everything they did by themselves took unnecessary risks and made the situation worse. If there's such a thing as competence porn, this was the opposite: Just watching one sad loser repeatedly fuck up and refusing to learn from their mistakes.
That the MC also comes across as a whingy little kid throwing a tantrum throughout doesn't help. Demanding that Oruth apologize before he dies was just childish.
"Until now, the MC has been fully reliant on Valerie, Rena and the various side characters. So, I felt it was necessary for their character arc to prove they can overcome threats by themselves, especially as the MC's role is to protect Valerie."
