Do fan made Ipatch be tagged as incest though? Sometimes, the patches really are just fanfic stuff that isn't really supported by the story. But other times, devs really don't give any good explanation why characters behave as if they are family while calling each other by their names. In those cases, we could infer that the author intent was incest. Just wondering where this game falls.

The patch is only trying to restore it. The patch linked in the OP was taken over by another person has the one who originally did didn't have the time as they are working on Long Short Story Ren'Py port and said they wouldn't be around very much on F95 anymore.

yeah i know what you mean. There are no such figleafs or awkward dialog in this game that you’d normally see when incest is clearly intended.

the mods tag a game as incest if a patch exists at all fanmade or not. I’ve seen some where the dev himself complained about a fanmod for his game fucking with his character relationships and made it clear he didn’t want incest but they left the tag anyway. it is what it is.

as far as this game though, yeah it absolutely works without the mod. The character interactions make more sense and feels more natural with just the vanilla dialog.

Yeah early beta they were related, but it was dropped in v0.2a and the way the characters have been written ever since doesn't seem to play around incest taboos at all... especially with how Emily reacted (or rather didn't react) to the obvious flirting going on between MC and Chloe. Either way, there's a incest mod for people that must imagine them related but it's definitely not official. Just keeping a dream alive for some folks I guess. IMO, I think incest doesn't even fit the tone of this vn with how it's going.

Well that's because the ONLY person that's related to the MC is the daughter (whoever that is) and obviously there won't ever be any sexual scenes with her.. the incest tag on this game just confuses people and honestly should be removed.

As others have said the mere existence of an I patch on this site is enough to justify the tag, whether one likes it or not, that's what usually happens.

As to the other part, just as an example, not being aware you are committing incest doesn't mean it didn't happen, which would open other narrative opportunities, but I'm looking at it from a story perspective rather than a kink one of course.

As I said before I personally think this AVN feels a bit off both with and without the I patch, with the patch everything feels a bit fake, without feels like something's missing, the characters and situations are written in a way that despite the efforts still show how the original idea included it.

But the dev knows who the daughter is in the story (obviously) which is why i think there will never be sexual interactions between them.. it doesn't matter if the MC knows or not.. the dev does.

I'm saying something different thou, don't get me wrong, I understand why incest was removed to begin with, it wasn't a story reason, rather a marketability one (read: content disallowed on most sites).

I'm looking at it from a narrative perspective, incest would "fit like a glove" if it applied only to the lost daughter, and happening before the MC even realizes it's her.

For context, I only played this one from the previous update, and played it first without the patch (I didn't even notice it had the incest tag tbh, I just liked the premise and the look of it), something felt missing, I checked it then with the patch, and like I said most interactions felt out of place/fake.

I see. But there are different ways of "removing" incest. One is the more typical "landlady" situation. Just literally treat it as incest but say they are landlady/roommate. It's retarded but just a nod towards the patch and the story doesn't work at all without it.

The other end of the spectrum would be full rewrite. Drop the pretense of family entirely and fully commit to the different dynamic. They can still act familiar and very close, but give story supported explanations on their bond and dynamics.

But most devs just can't drop it entirely. They always have lingering desires and the expectations from fans. These devs try to make it work both ways usually, and it often ends up having problems both as incest and non-incest.

As stupid as landlady stuff is, it's at least written with the explicit intent to be word replaced. The story is written fully with incest as the purpose, but just using some code words.

On the other hand, situations like this is just unsatisfying. For one, the incest patch is much more complicated. It cannot be done by code or variables. The sentences need to be adjusted manually. And even with the best effort from the patch, the base script is watered down because the dev is trying to make it work as non-incest story. So there is just something missing in the dynamics. And because the dev wanted to preserve some incest vibes too, the non-incest parts are also kind of odd.

It would create a fitting story but then the dev as the creator of the story would be knowingly writing incest into the game which isn't allowed, if you understand what i mean?

Nah, the patch does just fine and the person who does it does a good job (same with the previous) as it's more of rewrite than just putting lines of text in.

The easiest way would have been for the developer just to add what almost every developer does is just "choose your own relationship".
