IIRC you're not supposed to , he will go away at some point. There are some encounter like that where you cannot win against your enemy.

Also an FYI: Bugreport: The left tile to trigger Ariana's event in the Spire of Courage was missing the new changes, only the right tile below the white pillar did trigger the following events properly. Please download this mapfile, if you haven't played the event yet:

Anyone else having this bug where you order in the big strategic map to build the second mine in the south and it takes your resources but won't build the mine?

Really hate these version dates. Sure it's easy on the dev but just confuses me. How far along is this game exactly? I know it's been up for a few months but devs all have varying completion speeds...
