I have a feeling this is a dumb questions, but how do we get soldiers? I have unlocked captains, but am lost on how to get the cannon fodder.

After obtaining the uniforms of Amagal in their barracks, you can enter a secret dungeon area in their capital Manastyr. In that are do you obtain the knowledge about strange gold.
No. There are special areas to go on adventurers with 3-4 "women", but there is no option to keep the mc female permanently.
You can train "soldiers" on the country management map, but those are more like a resource for things like the expeditions. The vanguards doesn't need "cannon fodder" to be trained for them.
For general upgrades for your army, check the screen of the command center on the country management map.

uniforms of amagal? are those the "anti-" suits? (preferably anti magic armour)? if not, where and how can i obtain the suits of amagal?

In the barracks. It's one of the locations in Amagal that you can enter on the worldmap, with mutliple buildings.

gotcha, btw: does the riddle key break the game if used at all? and is there a quest for the dungeon of lualombo to poisonwood keep? where can i find said quest (if any(steps & all))?

The riddle key doesn't break the game. It would be a pretty bad item if it would. It's basically a "cheat" for people to skip hard riddles when they get stuck or don't want to do it. The intention is to give people a way to skip such frustrating moments, but since they amount of riddle keys is very limited, give them a motivation to at least try to solve it first.
There is no dungeon from Lualombo to Poisonwod Keep. The switches in the dungeon below Lualombo can be used to open the door at either El Arma Gravesite or Sinasoka, depending on the direction of the switches.

The "women" I mentioned are genderbend male characters that are turned into women. That's why I wrote "women".

so i can fuck my companion turning him into a woman? (to reinforce the friendship XD)
So the walkthrough hasn't been particularly helpful here, Mirel seems to be stuck at Relationship 50(Technically 56 because an event forced an extra 6 points.) and it won't let me progress past that point with gifts, but nor can I figure out how to unlock it. The walkthrough mentions an About Racism quest and a Trade Route event, but I haven't been able to figure out how to trigger either of them, and there's nothing listed under her page section in the walkthrough between Relationship 35 and Relationship 75. I just finished "Final Battle" so the main quest is decently progressed. Lot of the other girls seem to be locked as high as I could get them too and no way to get them to 100. I feel like I'm missing something important other than the game not being finished. If it's listed in the walkthrough I feel like I should be able to get further with them all?
Part of it is that I want to get to the point where I can get the Fertility Potion recipe because I've hit so many one off sex scenes that I can't repeat and so many women I can't impregnate now. Which is odd since a lot of them mention coming back for more, but never give me the option to repeat which is a shame. I need that recipe so I can knock everyone up on the first try going forward if I can't repeat their scenes, though I hope the ones that weren't repeatable before become repeatable later.

The CG gallery does allow you repeat scenes, even with getting someone pregnant when you eventually do get the recipe. And

The first thing you should do when you meet one of the main characters is to gift them.
Mirel wants flowers.
If you hand her 6 flowers right after meeting her, you should have 70/70 relationship from the start before ever touching a love potion or getting story events that increase love further.
Mira wants golden crosses.
Tsubaki wants books.
Etc
