Yeah, especially with animations it is just too time intensive to correct. I think I'll most likely leave it alone.


*cough* I'll be honest, the non role play route only got a very cursory glance from me. Mostly it just uses the name substitution variables ("Beth" instead of "Mom"), but I didn't really give it a lot of extra dialog attention to make sure it all made sense. I'll do a review on it though and see if it can be improved.

Most saves should have been unaffected by this update. The update to 3.4 impacted lots of saves, but little changed script wise from 3.4 to 3.5.

Another thing that had me wondering if I should stick with The Orginial was I read Sandbox was taken out, I like Sandbox, makes it more of a game than watching a video. I can do that on PornHub.

Animations can't be done the same way they are in the Unity version (for a number of reasons). For this game they are just webm files that are literally screen captures of the original. As you pointed out they are heavily compressed (from roughly 5gb down to 600mb) and some earlier animations were transcoded to 15fps (down from 30, also to save space (although, I have replaced most of these with the 30fps versions)).

Is there an animation that looks particularly bad for you as an example and I can see if it is improvable?

Seems you've already fixed some of them. It was the first ones you encounter especially, but knowing it's just webm files, and not actual animations that are rendering, makes me a bit at ease, as I thought I was having issues with my system. Thanks for answering!

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Another Way Home. The pornographic content is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of sexual physics most of the jokes will go over a typical player's head. There's also Morty's hypersexual behavior, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Sigmund Freud's theories, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this porno, to realize that it's not just erotic, it says something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Another Way Home truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's "infinite credit card", which is a thoughtful and trailblazing commentary on the paradoxical dream of a just, capitalist society. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Night Mirror's genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. The new update's really good even if you don't want the horse stuff, when the... ahem... time comes, the game has an option to skip over the bestiality scenes completely. (I personally didn't, I thought it was hilarious.)

I like, and play both, but do prefer The Renpy one. The main reasons ... the Unity version sandbox is clunky and prone to bugs, and frustrating I find, Also it has a very basic (one shot) save system, whereas in the Renpy version I can have as many saves as I want, usually one for the start of each main scene. Also, I like the changes (improvements, IMO) Night Mirror has made to the dialogue etc.

I suggest try both, and see which you prefer, plus you will understand the differences better that way.

You probably won't get the copy/pasta meme above, for example. Like the TV series, the game can be understood and enjoyed on surface level alone, but the show has a lot of depth, references and continuity, that the game touches on, so watching the show would be a bonus but not a necessity. If you like the premise, and characters in the game, you would probably enjoy the TV show. It's one of the best TV shows ever IMO, and I've seen a few, not as many as the Smith family though, as I unfortunately don't have interdimensional cable.

Yup. Black Adder is a great show, one of my favs. I think Rick and Edmund have similar traits. Also, the Rick and Morty creators and writers are mega old school geeks, like myself, and I'm pretty sure they are big fans of British humour, such as Spike Milligan, Monty Python, and Rowan Atkinson. There are a lot of parallels to Python. The show is silly, crude, and intelligent at the same time, touching on some of the great philosophical questions of the ages ... such as if you became a human/horse hybrid, would you stick your big old sweaty horse cock in your mommy's pussy?

I agree with wibbled's sentiment here, I think both version have something about them to like (and dislike). And you don't have to choose one over the other. Yeah, technically you'll be replaying very similar content, but the overall experience won't be exactly the same. I don't personally enjoy the sandbox element in the Unity version (which is part of why I didn't implement it here (there are way longer posts about my thoughts on sandboxes in general if you so desire...)), but some people enjoy that aspect of the game.

The colors in the renpy version will be less vibrant overall though, as it is very compressed, but for most of the images it is very difficulty to see much of a change without a side-by-side.

A google search should be able to get you the webm codec. You're only missing it if you get long sections of black during sex scenes. If you are looking for character standing models to be the same as Unity, that is not implemented in renpy.

If there are a enough people that really want that minor bump in visuals for 10GB vs 1.3GB, I'll see what I can do.
