F95zone says 3 months with no communication for something to be considered abandon.

So, lets look at some dates (and do some speculation):
  • 02/04/23 - Unity v3.7f released.
  • 05/01/23 - Unity v3.8 released.
  • 05/04/23 - Ferdafs puts up some sexy art for May the 4th.
  • 01/31/24 - Unity v3.9 released.
  • 03/22/24 - Ferdafs puts out an update about the next patch.
  • 06/22/24 - Unity v4.0 released.
Last time, I waited 6 months (with no communication) before continuing (Putting out r3.8P2 in Nov of 2023). Ferdafs returned roughly~ 8ish months later with a new update (and no communication in between). So really the question is, how much do I think Ferdafs has abandon the project?

All I can do is guess. At the moment, I think it's just another long delay, as we've been seeing for a while. I'd prefer not to do standalone releases if I can help it. This is a remake, and its main goal is to remake (into renpy), not to "take over" and push the game forward. The conclusion exists as the "backup" plan to wrap things up (and not leave this project abandon), but isn't intended to supersede the original (i.e. in addition to, not in place of).

So~ short answer (too late), right now I'm not sure. I will say I have no release plans for this year if we don't get something before Jan 2025 (and I'm ready to go if we do get an update before the end of the year).

At some point, I'll have to decide when long enough is enough, and I don't think we aren't getting anything more from Ferdafs. Or, maybe a new update will drop on us right after I post this, who knows. Without a info from Ferdafs, it's all just a guessing game.

I know waiting for an update sucks (it is really frustrating for me too!), but that is the nature of this project.
I just looked at his Patreon page and either he's sick again or having some life changes , but no response either way after his last update .......... I hope he's alive and well though

Hey NightMirror I really enjoyed the extras you put in the Mindblowers. Is there any shot you could add more things like that or unused ideas by you in there. I think it is just fun to see some "behind the scene" stuff.

Glad you enjoyed :D

Most of anything extra usually ends up in this thread. A lot of it doesn't really have art, its just weird or interesting things I encountered while working on this project. Putting it in-game as text over black wouldn't work great.

If you are interested in the more behind the scenes stuff, this thread is littered with a bunch of long winded posts from me about lots of different things.

(really, I just want to get back to normal 2-3 month updates from Ferdafs... but I feel those days are sort of over...)
Ya. I think one day soon, we won't hear from him again.

Finishing up your own ending seems like a good way to go.

We might get one more Vendacator update but I really wonder if we'll get more than that.

Hey that was a bit poetic....'Yesterday, upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there!...' :geek:

My hope is the new season next year (?) will respark his interest...I highly doubt it though...

I've just played the game and I have to say it's pretty good, but the number of rape-related things is really weird.
For example :
when Morticia gets caught and we go to save her, and she sees the line with all the Mortys there to rape her, and she says "this is not the time to be horny", I don't really get it. What's the point of going to help her if in the end it doesn't bother her and she's turned on by it?
Maybe I've misinterpreted the text because English isn't my mother tongue.

The way that I interpret that scene is that Morticia (like her brother) is confirmed to be almost always horny. She also has recently discovered that she has an exhibitionist kink. She isn't happy or unbothered by the situation. In a different context (consensual/Rape Play) she would be all for the thrill of what is happening. The body will do what it wants, even if the mind doesn't want it.

ooook, thanks for the answer. I think I understand a little better. When I read the text, I understood that since she had other things to do, it wasn't the right time. That's why I wasn't sure if it was me who had misunderstood.

At least most of the time we can avoid all the rape stuff, because I really don't like it.

So downloaded, started a new game and despite having disabled renaming both in settings before starting a new game and when prompted to change names and nicknames

You should be able to avoid the actual content, in most cases with an alternate scene that doesn't feature non-con, or almost always with a "skip" (specifically included for things people might not enjoy). I can't promise it will never come up in dialogue (such as the example here), but also, there is only so much I can (and want) to do.

Not clear if there is an issue here or not? It sounds like you might be saying that you've turned off character rename, but are still being prompted for it? I cannot reproduce this issue on any version of the game. The "rename" toggle only impacts character names, Nicknames (for Summer/Beth/Morticia) are still prompted.

Why are there so many high ratings? As far as I understand, the game doesn't even have a decent storyline and features a lot of repetitive dialogue and also mediocre art based on the original cartoon. The only thing that might appeal here, then, is, as I understand it, the fact that you're a fan of Rick and Morty—is that right?

Does it even make sense for someone who hasn't watched Rick and Morty to play this?

The high ratings are a reflection of how the people playing the game feel about it – which is mostly Rick and Morty fans.

My opinion is that the high rating is well deserved, because of the overall quality. Even if it's not your cup of tea, the art-style and writing is authentic to the show, the pacing of the story and racy scenes is just right, and the game is well supported and stable. It especially stands out when compared to the unity version, which is a mess in terms of pacing and technical issues.

Whether you'll like it without watching the show depends on your preferences, but you'd definitively lose out on a lot. There's seasons worth of backstory, character and world building, and it will get you invested even before starting the game.

So my recommendation would be to give the show a try first – if you don't like the show, you'll likely not enjoy the game too much either.

I don't exactly get where you're even getting the "repetitive dialogue" issue from other than not playing the game in the first place.
I took this from a review of someone who ACTUALLY PLAYED the game, and I never said I personally tried it. Your defense of the game is at the level of: if you haven't played it—then you're jerk. And honestly, I don't even see the point in arguing with you, since you're just posting in the general thread without directly replying to the message. (I'm not a native English speaker, so I might offend with statements like these.)

I didn’t quite understand what you meant by “show,” but you’ve definitely piqued my interest. As for the graphics, I think they’ll probably mostly appeal to Rick and Morty fans, or people who don’t dive too deep into evaluating what’s happening. But regarding the engine, I’d say you’re mistaken, because all similar tools have their shortcomings, and no matter which engine you bring up as an example, there will always be people who criticize it)) Also, Unity itself seems pretty good, it all depends on the skills of the developers.

Ratings are a reflection of opinion most of the time, especially on a porn site. There are plenty of high rated games I didn't enjoy, and more than a few low rated ones I really liked.

I've put a lot of time and effort into this project, trying to make it the best I can. I address issues players have (to the best of my ability), to make a game that is enjoyable and has minimal issues. It will never appeal to everyone, but to those that enjoy it, I'll do everything I can to improve it.

I think part of that effort is also reflected in the reviews. Most games on this site are not published on this site, they are uploaded here, with minimal to no interaction with the dev.

As far as I understand, the game doesn't even have a decent storyline and features a lot of repetitive dialogue and also mediocre art based on the original cartoon.
Art is always going to be a preference thing. When I first started playing the original Unity game: Rick and Morty A Way Back Home (by Ferdafs), on which this renpy~ port? adaptation? mod? (whatever people want to call it) is based, it took me a LONG time to accept the character model changes (that were vastly different from the show). Now it doesn't bother me at all, but I did find it jarring. Eventually, the style grew on me, and now I really enjoy it.

To storyline, I do agree the main through story is not the best. But, again, adaptation of the original, there is only so far I can deviate from the original game. In fact, I've had to add the story back in to a fair bit of the game where Ferdafs seemingly forgot his own story existed. At the end of the day though, it is a porn game, and most of it's "story" is one off, self contained, scenes about having sex with various girls. It's not ground breaking storytelling, it's porn, with a story.

To repetition, I (and several other contributors from this forum) have worked hard to cut down a LOT of the dialogue repetition from the original. BUT, this game is over 400k+ words long, with more than 200 sex scenes. There is only so many ways to describing "fucking" without using language so out of place that it ruins the scene.

I think the "repetition" complaint mainly comes from how the girls react with Morty cumming inside them, which doesn't have much variance each time. Which, I agree, can be repetitive for some, and I could most likely do better.

The only thing that might appeal here, then, is, as I understand it, the fact that you're a fan of Rick and Morty—is that right?

Several players have commented (in fact just above) that they played this game without watching the show. In some cases, players watched the show after, and the game got them into it. In others, people have enjoyed it without touching the show at all.

It is a parody, so you will miss out on some things if you don't watch the show. But, no, I don't think the show is required to enjoy it. If you understand the basic idea of Rick and Morty (they go on wacky adventures in other dimensions), that should be enough? There are several other parody porn games out there that I enjoy, but either hate or don't watch the content on which they are based. Again, to each their own.

If you're on the fence about playing, I'd suggest just trying it? It's free, costs you only a bit of time to download and play. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you'll hate it? But, it doesn't cost you anything to try.

In this case, they mean the original game on which the renpy game (this game) is based. It was originally made in Unity by Ferdafs, and not~ very well. It certainly could be made better. Unity is a great engine with a lot of power. But, the renpy version of this game exists, because the Unity game has SO many issues.
