Is there a way to play av1 in phones without having the video placement being wonky as fuck ?

AFAIK MKV isn't an ideal file type for phones (this is why MP4 is so widespread) and AV1 requires more power to play a file.

So like the other guy said, its a mix of having a more up to date phone and a better video player.

Although I say preset 6 looking not good, the artifacts are not very noticeable unless you pause the video.

Personally didn't notice any difference, but I've been recently sitting on preset 4 anyway with new cpu

So, if you are planning to use FFmpeg, you should add "-svtav1-params tune=0" in the options.

I do use ffmpeg I have a whole ass script that automatically converts all the fucking gacha games porn I download to av1, fast-decode=2 overrides it anyway iirc

VLC updated recently on mobile and that piece of shit can't handle AV1 10bit anymore idk why, it just doesn't play them right, so for AV1 with 10bit just go with MPV. Also avoid mp4 as plague, phones that don't support it are just dogwater to begin with (iphones more specifically lmao), mkv by far is the best option unless you're addicted to apple products for some weird reason

yeah right it doesn't play well with tune=0 that's what it was, previously i used x265 but it didn't really work well in some cases, av1 covers it usually. i just really dont want to waste any disk space for all these 10 gigabyte high quality videos, they are still good even after reencoding but take significantly less space
