Dev Update #50

Hello Everyone!

I hope that everyone enjoyed Episode 6. I really love some of the scenes in the update. It's my favorite update so far. I had a lot of fun creating it, and I tried not to hold myself back to rush it and stayed true to my vision. The Riley scene... Haha! I've never made any scene like that, and it was a blast. And Skylar's scene... Wow! A magical night under the moonlight. Feels nice man. I know some people don't like Riley, and some don't like Skylar or Jessica, but just give me time, and hopefully, your favorite character will fully be fleshed out scenes.

Meanwhile, I've been really busy the last month. For people that are not aware, I moved to a new house. I've been planning this move for half a year, and I still wasn't fully prepared. It was a lot of work. Yes, I did hire movers, but I still had to go through all my stuff, clean, organize, and pack everything into boxes. And do the opposite when I got to the new house. I still haven't gotten every box unpacked. I ordered new furniture and needed appliances ahead of time and tried to plan everything out, but a couple of items arrived late. Like my new desk and chair for my office/computer room. I ordered those a while back, and they recently just arrived, so I couldn't set up my office until they arrived. I also ordered a new PC case, more case fans, and more hard drives. I needed to upgrade my PC. It was running hot, and I needed more space for internal storage. I did that a few days ago, so now my office is finally ready, and I can get back to working on the new update. There are still a few parts I'm waiting for, but I can use the PC as it is now.

About the next update and progress. Well, as you read, I haven't made much progress because of all the life events that have been happening with moving and everything else going on. But that doesn't mean I haven't done anything. I set up an old PC in the living, downloaded Ripples game files off my cloud drive, and did some work on the script and dialogue for episode 7. So, I do have a big head start in that regard. I also have been making a list of all the typos in episode 6 and correcting them. So, thank you to everyone who contributed to finding them. So yeah, I have not made much progress in the last month, but I needed this little break to move and take a little break from Ripples. But now I am ready to get back to work and create the new update!

I did miss last month's custom monthly renders, so I'll work on those first. I'll also get some holiday renders out soon. So look out for those in the next couple of days. I also want to say thanks and welcome to all the new subscribers. And thanks to all the OG subscribers for keeping this project going. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I have a question here does the mod stop the hidden renders from showing up in chapter 6. First play through I picked Skyler and didn't see any just assumed it was on the other path, so did a second play through and picking Jessica this time and notice I didn't see any of them in chapter 6. I do have everything from all the earlier chapters. So is it the mod or did I do something wrong, or is my game messed up. thanks

This is not a harem game AFAIK, picking certain LIs seems to prevent you from advancing other LIs. Then again, that may change over time and this game gets updated so slow I guess we won't know for another 10-20 years anyways.

Harem isn't in the game as yet, so it's not tagged, but it certainly seems to be headed in that direction. The only either-or choice between girls in the game that I'm aware of is the split path between Skylar and Jessica in this latest update. Iirc, Jestur has stated, or at least implied, that we'll be able to advance both of them later, so the choice between them is a temporary one.

Ah sorry if I was mistaken about this being a harem. Like I said I haven't played this in quite some time and combining what I did remember with the troll claiming the game was trying to be a typical harem story I figured it was one. In any case I stand by calling out the dumbass on their stupidity. They clearly want a harem experience that has them at the center of the universe but took issue with the game supporting people's choice to sleep with whoever they please.

On the bright side this has reminded me I need to catch up on this game. I look forward to seeing how it's evolved and grown!

So the cliffhanger for ep6 does something that I, as a reader, really fuckin' appreciate. A lot of authors in the episodic VN scene have this bad habit of making the penultimate moments in their current arc the cliffhanger, and then running the resolution and cooldown as the opening scenes of the following chapter. Sure this can work great in a product where you know you will see the resolution next week, same bat time, same bat channel. Problem is in a product where the next chapter is anywhere from months to a year away, it's borderline counterproductive. If you're gonna give me a literary edging session, then just get up and leave and drive away before the resolution, sure than can be exciting, but you gotta make sure I'm still hard for it when you come back to finish me off. If I have to wait months for the resolution, I've damn near forgotten why I cared by the time the release gets here. It actually lessens the impact of the resolution by putting that much time in between the story beats. It's hard to even justify it with a "it works better for the finished product" argument since in that scenario the reader gets the resolution immediately anyway, the only difference being which side of the episode title splash screen you get it on.

This one was good though, pushed some more long term lines forward, wrapped up a mini arc with a satisfying resolution, gives the reader a few moments of literary PNC, then hits you with a "hey, wanna get excited for something else?" right before credits roll. As a reader I'm hooked either way, but this is more satisfying. Building anticipation instead of blue-balling.

Well, you see it from the wrong side. This AVN is a work in progress. After completing this game there isn't a cliffhanger at all. It's not a serial novel. You're playing an incompleted game and have to live with this or stick to the completed games until this one here is completed.

So basically all I got from your post was
"WAAAAH CLIFFHANGER BAAAAAD!".

Yes, you opened with the "fact" that you liked the cliffhanger for ep6 but immediately argued against that.

According to you cliffhangers should only be used if the next installment is "Next Week" so that you can "still be hard then".

First of all please see a doctor. Running with an erection for a full week or longer is not really healthy ...

Second of all the question of why are you consuming anything but series on TV or a streaming platform?
(And btw. TV series are filmed more or less on one go and are released in 12+ episodes a year later)

And lastly "when you come back to finish me off" sounds like you are seeing authors like your personal whores.

If you don't like seeing cliffhangers adjust your filters on the forum to only show you "Completed" games.

When he saved his mom in 1999 when she was pregnant I thought we were going to get another sister back in the present but it seems like we're going with a model where the present already exists and we're basically interpreting the past through the present. No changes in the present except minute ones like Kira/Krystal and the necklace.
We might get a Steins;Gate worldline shift at the climax though.
1999 sections are my favourite part of the story. The wait is going to be unbearable. screenshot0001.png
