It's been awhile since I've played the earlier chapters so I must have just assumed it didn't work/whoever figured it out died in the explosion (the same one that caused the power plant to be off limits/red light?). I think we just disagree on how complicated time travel is, considering the "bad guys" seem to want to take/use the one we know about (Masked man warning MC etc) instead of just making their own? Someone was able to do it in the 90s but they (despite having the knowledge its possible) still prefer to interfere with masked man other than just getting another scientist? Granted i could be forgetting something about masked man/the "bad guys" but i dont feel like im missing anything THAT major?

Lots of countries know that making an atomic bomb is possible. They could probably make one (my college physics textbook explains the process and a lot of the math, just not the engineering portion), but there is a good chance it blows up in their lab. However if they could have a spy steal the necessary information from a country (say the United States), then that probably solves many of the issues they have run into and shortens their efforts and mistakes. Even if they have figured out the bomb stealing current technology info from the US helps them improve their version that they are going to produce and potentially use. I won't recount the number of times this has actually happened with the US nuclear program.

An adversarial group working on a time machine that almost or partially works, or even works to a degree, makes accessing another working time machine extremely valuable to them. They know a time machine is feasible, have some general and maybe some specific info from a mole they planted in the development group or a survivor has come over to help them since the original project was shut down.

The power plant section with the time machine was probably put off limits by the developers/owners, or maybe some black government group who was funding the development.

I guess im stuck on the idea how they can know it was possible in the 90s (we have very different ideas how "close" time travel is) and not have made any progress in 20 years despite them getting infinite(?) rewards if they make even the "poorly designed 20 year jump only" time machine. To me its very much a iron man scenario where im asking "how could they do it in a cave with a box of scraps!" where the "bad guys" have had some knowledge, connections, and money to operate/exist "in secret" for way longer and are still having to rely utterly on the masked man. If he dies or fucks off to the end of time what tf would they do?

Then again the people we see with jenny are literally mustache twirling villains who are talking about how they like to nerco vs have the girl struggle..... so maybe the bad guys are just legit incompetent? Wasn't the guy riley bonked on the head one of them? I guess that lines up with them being incompetent

Bribery and industrial espionage. Plus it all went down in 1999 so it's more like the 2000s.

We don't know how much progress they have made, and what info they have about the technical operation and design of the original machine. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos both own rocket companies. Elon launches satellites and ferries astronauts to and from the ISS with regularity. Jeff has one that looks like a penis and uses it to impress his dimwit pop star girlfriend. You don't think that Bezos would love to get one of Musk's rockets to take apart and reverse engineer to make his actually worth something?

No telling how good the adversarial group actually is. So far it looks like their low level helpers are channeling the spirits of Larry, Moe and Curly but they might just be there to monitor things and report back, not do any black bag jobs. Most likely people running security ops on both time machine groups are not good people.

Damn, it seems that only $50 supporters and above get "Early Access to the latest version as soon it is release (No Wait)". Was hoping it was cheaper so I could subscribe for a month. Price is actually not bad when you compare it to other AVNs. I just wish it came with beta testing.

Would you really enjoy the game as much if you did beta testing on it? You'd have to focus on finding bugs, not simply playing the game.

Also is a good measure to let the beta testing be done in a more closed group, it is really annoying games being easily leaked on a beta testing version like we all saw happen in other games.
