One of the prevailing theories is that Darci's mom is his cousin, but not because she was kidnapped (which is a different issue all together but probably still related) but because Grandma is actually Jenny, who somehow got sent further into the past, somehow got her daughter brought to her, stayed out of sight of Jenny and Tiff while they were growing up, and is now completely playing with the MC's head 'cause she knows all -- or she's just instinctually attracted to him and doesn't actually remember who she is.

I would assume it's because the theory predicates on Jenny not dying but going back further in time and being Darci's grandmother and Darci's mom being her daughter, thus making her the MC's cousin.
The theory is pretty harsh if you look at it too close. In the tree above, Jenny would be Isabelle, Darci would be Idril and Asha is her mom ... it also begs the question of how Darci came to be if her mom was traumatized a couple years before she would have been born. What paragon of sainthood could have drawn the woman out of whatever shell she'd enclosed herself in? Or did something else happen to further damage her psyche and bring about the future hellcat?
