Most of them look very similar, and why would the adult have the same hair as the teen?

Why wouldn't she have the same hair? It's not like it is imposible for someone to have the same hairstyle for years.
And considering HS limitations the faces in this game are fairly different, only related characters share the same faces.
If it is her and she was following MC, i would say she is an agent working for the other faction, similar to April.

I’m more inclined to agree with the argument about the technical and visual limitations of HS games. Characters often keep the same outfits or hairstyles so they’re easier to recognize, especially since physical features can’t always be detailed much, particularly facial traits.

Apart from that, it’s true that the situation with the blue pickup truck constantly following the MC from one scene to another is pretty intriguing and I hadn’t noticed it before. To me, it also seems like something too obvious to be a coincidence. I wonder what it could mean. Who exactly are the others we see with vehicles in ’99 ? Isn’t it possible that someone else might have a vehicle similar to that one ?

We see into the truck on two occasions and it looks empty both times. Sure she could just leaning over (to the point of not being able to see the person shes spying on lol) but Occam's razor imo. iirc the truck is already there in the final image (Darcy outside power plant) since we dont see or get any mention of it driving up and parking in the minute(s) they've been there.

Yeah it could be something along those lines. But it has been mentioned in game that the MC was noticed in the past by people who shouldn't know he was there. And if that woman actually is Shelbys step-mom she'd be a good candidate for being one of those people since Shelbys dad seems to be one of the primary antagonists.

Her being the stepmom complicates that doesnt it?

In 99: is dating bully, tells MC to get away from her truck/makes him leave by saying she'll call bully (her friend is more chill with MC which is weird if shes trying to spy) I'd say at that point (for her) shes probably not trying to spy as she is actively trying to get MC to leave despite the fact that he didnt even realize they were there if she didnt bring attention to them.

Before 2019: does whatever while Shelbys dad is banging shelbys real mom, ends up with him/shelby at some point and is recruited into the bad guys (and girl) club?

2019: doesnt particularly push her stepdaughter towards or away from MC (more than any rich parent would at least) despite the fact that the last 20 years of her life have are more or less dedicated to MC (or his time machine stuff).

None of that even gets into the whole "let her future husband fuck some other girl (so Shelby can happen) despite her being aware of him in 99? Or the fact that she was still with the bully in 99. Neither paint a very interesting picture imo

Her 99 version doesn't need to be aware of time travellers or that the MC is one for her future self to notice somewhere down the line after she is aware of these things that she saw the MC in the past and tell Shelbys dad about it.

Could be stalking him on behalf of her boyfriend (I assume the guy MC beat up) to find out just who the hell the MC is and how to get back at him. No idea really, pure speculation on my part. Very curious to see where this story goes.

Well since April is aware of time travel it would make sense that someone else in 99 would also know, the only difference between the two is one is on the "good side" and one the "bad". I think the following around for the bully makes more sense as it doesnt require any timey wimey stuff and avoids all those pesky questions about her cucking herself/dating someone for month(s) as cover so you can spy on a time traveler who is there for like 2 days (even if the dude sucks thats still cunty)

Although honestly the "just a truck" will likely still work as the party (in the upcoming update) will provide plenty of ways for the bully to find the MC and tons of potential methods on how to deal with him (darci solos)

Also sure, the mega rich guy dealing with high tech time travel stuff is going to have grainy surveillance photos/vids of a target he actively wants to keep a close eye on. Right. More like 4k high def stuff. Grainy surveillance footage is from shitty fixed cameras watching a specific area to save on storage space, not active surveillance operations of a particular person.

To be clear, I obviously don't know if this is the way the story will play out. Just pointing out that it's very possible. That truck making so many appearances in the background is kind of suspicious. Even if he was just reusing that truck model to fill background space, I think it's likely he'd at least change the color in some of those shots since that's dead easy to do and Jestur clearly has an eye for details.

Unless the story has a (already controversial) LI be told something that "any logical person" would think is not possible, then have her believe her mom and lie (both directly and lie by omission) to MC about it would be a very odd choice, even moreso when Jestur repeatedly said just trust the story etc (when she was lying about her tattoos). People gave up on her both when she got a random "redesign", and when she lied right after. To stack a third lie on top of that (without any resolution) is not going to sell people on her.

We know that the bad guy organization is not very competent for a group that is (2nd closest?) to time travel. Someone clearly high up (on the science side) is talking about how he prefers to rape living girls, while the underlings prefer necrophilia, Riley is able to sneak up and beat one of them with a baseball bat, MC is allowed to walk to the time machine whenever he wants despite it being on their land, as to the 4k cameras.....uhhh where? from the people literally hiding in bushes as cover? Did they replace all the grainy security cams you'd expect to find around a small town in 2019 (assuming they were brand new when the game released).

All of this speculation (while fun) is pointless because Jestur (who we both agree is very detail oriented) shows the truck being at EVERY LOCATION (parked) before MC/Darci get there (see below) as to why he didnt change the color or make any other edit? considering nobody noticed (cheked thread for truck) for the entire time between updates it would have been minutes/hours of pointless work, and this is coming from someone who tracked down a picture of an irl location that an in game newspaper clipping in the background mentions in pale carnations

Yeah Luna is another strong possibility of being the person who noticed him that shouldn't have. There are a lot of people this could be. I never said what I proposed was the only way things could go, only that it's possible.

And Luna immediately going to the strange reaction makes perfect sense with what I said about "no logical person would think this" because it's been established Luna isn't exactly a logical person. She has a strange way of thinking that even Skylar acknowledges, her moms "vibes". Plus I believe Luna mentions at some point she has a photographic memory and never forgets a face. So unlike the other women who'd only have a vague recollection of what the MC looks like after 20 years, she may have noticed he doesn't just look like and remind her of the guy from '99. She may have noticed he looks exactly like the guy from '99.

The bad guys don't need to be competent to have good cameras. Even basic mid-range cellphones had good cameras in 2019.

As for the truck locations, location 1 could be where she initially picked the MCs trail back up after losing them when they ducked into the park. Then followed him to locations 2 and 3 (possibly getting out of the truck to get a better viewpoint at 3) then at 4 I honestly have no idea. She might have heard Darci or the MC mention the power plant and left to get there ahead of them and stake it out? They could have even been followed to the power plant and just not noticed. The MC and Darci aren't exactly spies trained to catch people tailing em. It's not like any of these scenes show video of them arriving, just stills of them standing there afterward. So that truck could have arrived at the same time as them every time.

Also notice how each time the truck appears, it's very conspicuously placed in the background, as if you're meant to notice it.

Look at the cafe scene for example



Even when he's talking with Jenny, that truck is very obviously shown in the background the entire time.



Look how Jestur angled the camera and put that truck almost perfectly framed by that door. It's similarly placed in every single scene it appears in, in a very noticeable spot. Even if she isn't the person who noticed him that shouldn't have, it sure looks like there's something going on with that blonde and her truck.
