Man, I was the same. I tried it a couple of times and dropped it. But I gave it another chance, stuck with it, and ended up with something great. I don't know where you stopped, but I would advise you to keep playing until a mission where you go with two of the girls to retrieve a weapon (don't wanna spoil too much). That's where I got hooked.

Well, if you already played enough and didn’t enjoy it, there's nothing I can say to that. But like I said, I also didn’t like the beginning at all.

I never played more than an hour I would say, maybe will try again eventually;) talking about other games in the Ripples thread isn't the best though :p

I wouldn't say there's no romance. Some of the LIs have a lot more in that department than others, though, and it's definitely still building for a lot of them.

My response: Yes, there's romance, but it's probably a bit to early to say anyone has reached the "Big L" except one character.

As for the question about time, up to this point it looks like there really isn't anything major that can be changed. However, I personally suspect there might be a shift in the narrative coming in update 0.9, but I'm just guessing here, and everyone has their own interpretation of the events so far. (unless Jestur accidentally leaks something).

The only possible change that I can remember involves who gets the necklace. One way changes a name in the future.

Wasn't the name change just Crystal and Darci tricking the MC? (or Jestur retconning it? :D) or I'm misremembering ? :unsure:

Which is why I agree that there really hasn't been any indication up to this point that the time travel is anything but "everything has already happened" ... I still think that might change in the next update, but if it doesn't then it probably shouldn't change.

Darci was upset with Krystal and so she started calling her by her middle name (Kira). When the MC starts calling her that too, she only thinks he's playing along but is then worried when she realizes he actually thinks that's her first name.

The MC then tries to remember if Kira was always her middle name or there was indeed a change caused by not giving the necklace to Krystal's mom. He doesn't remember. Which isn't surprising, considering he didn't remember Scarlett coming over to paint with Tiffany several times before (we're told she had blonde hair, but still).

Ripples has a lot of LI's/potential LI's.

Jestur does, IMO, a great job helping us to keep track of them using the contacts 'app' in the in-AVN phone.

Before I start a new rev, I usually go through the contacts list to refresh my memory about where I am with each of the women and who I am 'on path' with.

It also updates back story well, so it is like a 'CliffsNotes' for the player.

I would have hard time letting go of most of the women in Ripples and I suspect that someone like Shelby, who I was close to kicking to the curb permanently once, is in the early parts of a bigger redemption arc that will see her helping the MC and becoming someone important to him.

The wait to see if I am right on this will be hard but I'm planning on a full replay at the end of Summer to try out some choices I missed the first time through so I can unlock a few gallery items that are still hidden (IMO - Ripples is one of a few AVNs that I view as worth being a completionist because the renders/animations are so good and I am enjoying the story -- so a redo won't exactly be a hardship).

Oh, that's interesting. I guess if he made it so every trip causes major changes, he would need to put in a lot more work every update. So making it like this is the best option, and it makes for interesting interactions with people who met you but you haven't met yet.

Glad I made this post recently, so I can just quote it regarding if the game is harem or not (you'll need to go back to the original post to see the snips of Jestur's comments). The TL;DR is that some type of harem is planned according to the dev, but we don't know if it'll be full harem or not.

So it's not been clearly stated that it'll be full harem (at least that I can find), but there definitely are harem path(s). In any case, Jestur has been pretty tight-lipped about exactly what that means, probably for story spoiler reasons if I had to guess.

Edit: There are actually both "harem" and "poly" points in the scripts. I think early on they were called "harem" points, but have changed to "poly" points around the middle of Episode 3 (you can get a "poly" point in Episode 8 for example, not a "harem" point).

And in the Variables script file, Jestur left this comment about the "poly" variable:

That variable change doesn't necessarily mean a harem was removed from the plan though, since a harem is a form of poly. Particularly since the comment calls it poly or harem points. If I had to guess, it probably was changed to encompass a broader range of CNM relationship outcomes.
