We are more or less in agreement Im more curious about the people who said stuff like incest was never intended and how they justify MCs guardians when he was growing up.

Yeah I know it's the same for Patreon, that's why I said Jestur left those details vague, for leaving the player to make their own conclusions.
Are there people that think incest was never intended? I didn't play the game when it was released, but I think someone said the game had incest unpatched then, but I might be thinking about other game .
About the relation of MC to Tiffany how would you solve it? Make her officially mother or step-mother and then not love interest? Or remake the game for MC to be living alone or something?

You cant "solve" it and have her still get scenes with the MC. So long as she get scenes it will have to remain a plothole in the story (the legal aspects of her raising a random kid).

I'm not disagreeing with you, as you said we both agreeing mostly, but I've been part of some of this discussions and what I've seen is people like me arguing that the game works without incest, and officially isn't a incest game, never saw anyone arguing that Jestur since the beginning neve intended for it to be an incest game.
Still not saying you're wrong, I've only started playing this game and following it after 0.7 been out for a while.

So he was indeed adopted. Glad patreon didn't read that because I don't think they allow adopted-cest. Otherwise it'd be the workaround instead of landlady

Right, I feel like incest in games is fine as long as the characters are of legal age and there isn’t pressure applied.

There's still power dynamics at play, MC is dependent on Tiffany and lives with her, and this is true if she's the mom or not.
Don't think Patreon really care for the subtleties of incest laws, if they think there's incest they ban and that's it.

Which would be problematic if Tiffany pursued the MC. But the MC is pursuing Tiffany so there aren’t power dynamics and pressure.

Power dynamic comes from "power" doesn't matter who pursues who, Tiffany still has all the power of the relationship, age, who MC dependes for home, food money, etc.
It's like when someone is underage, doesn't matter if the underage person pursues the adult, the power dynamic is always on the adult.

I rarely disagree with you Discrepancy but you failed to see their point, they even mention morality and usually that get in question when there is an abuse of whom has the power over the other, in the work place where hierarchies are in place, in a romantic or intimate relationship or any kind of relationship when there is a clear imbalance of power that can be shown in many forms, money earned and wealth is a good example. It is rare the cases where power is perfectly balanced.

Of course I won't even question about the morality and legality of when one of the parties is an underage person, it is simply wrong in my eyes, but about the incest if they are both adults all there is for me is consent even if there is an imbalance of power that isn't used to abuse, pressure or undermine the other then I see no problem.

I see your point, and Jason's and I'm not saying you guys wrong or something, but on this specific case, with MC and Tiffany there's a power imbalance that would be frowned upon them by the society even if it weren't ilegal, I'm even ignoring the incest option, let's use the official way that Ripples is at the moment, Tiffany is a woman in her forties taking care of a 18 boy that may or may not be adopted, this boy depends on her for house, food, money, well everything, there's a power imbalance, no matter if the 18 pursues the 40 years old or vice versa. The same isn't true for Jessica, Jessica is the same age range as MC so most people wouldn't see it as weird as long no blood relation is present, why? because Jessica has no power imbalance over MC or vice-versa.
By the way I'm not arguing against pursuing Tiff or saying is imoral or anything, my favorite girls on Ripples in order are Jessica, Tiffany and Darci, so two of them were technically incest for me, since I played with the incest patch trough all the game except last update.

We have already seen MC get his inheritance and he offered $ to Tiffany who turned him down.

There is no current power dynamic - MC and Tiffany are living with the people they choose to live with (no mention that Jessica got any of the inheritance, so she is still dependent on Tiffany even though she is in college).

Anything to do with Patreon is suspect these days, given the way they change their rules/enforcement of those rules whenever They choose.

If Patreon chose to say that living in houses next to each other is too close to incest and will not be allowed - there would be nothing any devs in that situation could do other than rewrites - if given the time to change their stories...

It is why I support Ripples using SubscribeStar - too many issues with Patreon to rely on them as anything but a measure of last resort.

I agree, in the case presented in this game it would be frowned upon and yes if any of those very conservative groups cross upon Ripples probably they would complain to the payment processors that complain to patreon/steam etc etc about the adoption thingy but even if that happen probably Jestur don't get much difficulties in just change a few lines of the game to "adapt" it to get 100% up to their policies/TOS because the story itself doesn't focus too much on their backstories.

Edit: and PaxHadrian17 bring very good arguments also of why there isn't really an imbalance power dynamic. Only saw it after hitting post reply button.

In other game I love from NiiChan (MBIML) is a different matter, giving him a lot of headaches because there is a much more detailed background stories but he already made a first adaptive draft of it that he called "compliance version" lol, for sure he will find a way to put the game from harms way of those annoying conservative groups polishing even more the writing of it so a few inconsistencies that still exist aren't so noticeable.

And I make this question for you guys, if you really believe there's no power dynamic on play here, how do you guys think the eventual relationship between MC and Tiffany will play out? Will it be open or hidden?

On another note, dunno if is too off topic, but I watched this german netflix show called "Dark", and it has very similarities to Ripples, it's about time traveling ofc, but the central plot at the beginning is about a Nuclear Power Plant and the MC father death too. Probably Jestur got some inspiration there .
The show is pretty decent, if you like Time Travel I would recommend it
