maybe there's more info later in the game (on chapter 3 now), but i remember mrs gilmore says she didn't start doing super sexual stuff until partway through college, just like jenny. jenny had an 8 year old daughter who disappeared with her... which would put darci's mom at age 28 so maybe nevermind. XD - unless jenny and daughter were sent to 1989 which would make mrs gilmore 60 (she looks closer to 60 than 50 tbh) and darci's mother 38 which would be... bingo.
darci also mentioned her mom is a recluse, has nightmares, ie. has all the traits of someone who was severely traumatized as a child - like being sucked through a time portal in a bizarre and pycho-thriller fashion.
I'm one of the believers of the Jenny=Jackie Gilmor theory so I can correct a bit of your math, in 1999 Jenny is 21 (you can check the ages in the phone bios of each char (in that bios Ms Gilmor is 61 in 2019) and in this theory yes Jenny traveled with Gabby (her daughter and Darci's mother) to 1989 from 2009 and that makes Jenny 31 and then from 1989 to 2019 (with 2 Jenny's existing from 1989 until 2009 of course and Gabby's from 2001 until 2009) makes Jenny 61 yo, exactly the age of Jackie Gilmor in 2019 on her bios.

It is just a theory I believe in, I and others can be totally wrong and it is just too many coincidences hehe. There is many other clues that other members posted before in the thread, you can search for it after you played the current full game of course.

yeah, soon after my post I went and calculated the MC's age when he shows up in the black suit halfway through part 2, but It was super convoluted and I can't remember it now XD

anyways, i'm now at the scene where it's heavily implied that skylar is your daughter - I definitely did not expect any of this when I started playing. Game is wild. (So glad I've kept everything in the mc's pants so far XD)

Are solo routes even still possible in this game? I've played through .8 a few times now? I know it's a harem game, and scenes in the replay gallery change depending on what your choices are, but I'm finding it very difficult in trying a solo Darci (or any girl for that matter). It was easier in the beginning without the newer updates, but now, it's pretty difficult.

No idea but I guess you can avoid most lewd scenes if not all doing the "wrong" choices :ROFLMAO:. This game is much more story driven than really relationship/romance focused. There is also only 1 instance where you have to chose between 2 girls "paths" but with the multimod is irrelevant also .

This isn't a harem game also, doesn't even have the tag yet, just seems like harem in the fact that you don't really commit to any LI yet and can pursue all of them, with that choice exception if not using the multimod or URM.

...which is interesting, because the tag clearly applies:
Harem [1 person being courted by at least 3 others, all engaging in consensual sex simultaneously.]
(from https://f95zone.to/threads/tags-rules-and-list-updated-2024-11-14.10394/)

If it required having sex with everyone as the end state, I could see it not applying, because the time travel issues make that impossible. But in 1999 alone, MC's having sex with at least Scarlett, Krystal, and Jenny. In 2019, Krystal, Daphne, Riley, and probably others that aren't coming to mind right now (not to mention Scarlett, Luna, and Darci, though those are yet to come).

I think when a game have you decide between 2 girls (Jessica or Skylar) the term harem becomes nebulous here.
I think the tag can be misleading, I think most people that are into harem games don't want to miss sex content on a single playthrough with anyone.

True. But while not conventional, when it comes to games I like to go for the multiple option, if there is one, because I suck at going for only 1 character at a time. Especially if all the characters are well developed, makes it even harder to turn them down. Which is why I had a hard time choosing the routes between Skylar and Jessica, so I just had saves for both of them and ran them simultaneously (which means I'll be doing double the work saving/loading through the same scenes to see the events that are route exclusive, at least skipping through the same content is an option, it just takes some time), I could've went with the mod, but I heard it breaks things. I only used the mod for all of the party events in one sitting, it might end up breaking things later, so I don't know the consequences of that yet.

*Edit: Oh wait I just checked the itch page and it says the game has harem, it's just not tagged on this page yet. I never actually saw the itch page before.

I'm playing Chapter 6 and this is something that pissed me off. MC figured out that the message spelled "HELP" and yet he did NOTHING. He didn't try to contact her mom, her workplace, her friends, anything at all to try and see if he could find out if she actually did need help. He just left it alone. What if she was in a really bad situation and had to type it in a rush or with her phone inside her pocket or something and this absolute moron just said "Hmm... looks a bit weird, sounds like she is typing help but meh, must be nothing. Lets just forget about it."... FFS man

For me the choice between Jess and Skylar being hard is what makes it interesting, I like choices and consequences, but well that's just me ;)
If the game had the harem tag here on f95 for me it would be misleading, I think it's better if it's not there so we don't have people complaining when they get to the Jess/Skylar choice, or even at the party on the last update, you can't see all the scenes.

So, does the harem TAG mean that the player gets to have all the girls in one playthrough, or that he will wind up in bed with all of them? Not at all. It just means that at one point in time the MC will have a sex scene with at least three girls at the same time. It doesn't even mean that the MC will wind up with any of those three girls at the end of the game. Maybe he will; maybe he won't; doesn't matter.

Is that what I would call a 'harem' game? Hell, no! Does its presence or absence mislead people? Hell, yes! But that is the rule for that tag here on F95.

I read it as meaning, not a BGGG scene, but that at some point in the game MC's sleeping with at least three girls. And Ripples definitely meets that criterion (we're up to at least seven, between 1999 and 2019, at least if you're on the Skylar path as I am).

yeah he's a world class idiot about some things. (just finished chapter 6 btw.) which i guess they established from the start, but even so it feel like we're left waiting for the mc to get up to speed on things the player already figured out a good while ago.
(also just wanted to pop in here and say that i'm sad i'm nearing the end of the current content when the game started 5 years ago and it doesn't feel like we're even a third of the way into the story)

The point that Walter and me were making is that this is a silly f95 rule, and putting that tag on a game just because MC slept with 3 girls is ridiculous.
Look I think Ripples is more or less a "harem", but for most people a harem game is a game that you only miss girls/scenes if you want, not by choices that makes you get a girl instead of other.
And having that tag here would just mislead people.

That is not how the rule is written:
  • Harem [1 person being courted by at least 3 others, all engaging in consensual sex simultaneously.]
Simultaneously is the key word here.

I'm not trying to contradict what you think the tag should mean, but it is what it is.

I don't think it is. Is MC "engaging in consensual sex" with Krystal? Yes, he is--we use the present tense to indicate a recurring activity, even if it's not happening at the exact moment we speak (just as I might say "I'm attending classes at (some school)," even if I'm not actually in class at the time I say that). The same is true, at the same time and in the same way, of Daphne, Riley, and Skylar (if you're on her route), in 2019 alone.

Or we could look at the usage of the tag--of those games with the harem tag, how many feature at least one four-way scene? I'm sure there are some that do, and I'm just as sure it's a very small minority. Surely there are games that are mis-tagged, but if the large majority of games that feature this tag don't use it as you understand it, then either (1) the people applying the tags just don't care about the "official" meanings, or (2) they understand the official meaning differently than you do.

But this is probably going to get into a dystopian scenario, so I think I'll stop here.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if you look at the guide, theres some variables that have "poly" in them, not with all the girls but with some of them, I don't even now how many chapters are left so we'll see.

You are correct: those variables are in the game and can by incremented, which I have done.

But I'm afraid that has nothing to do with the harem tag. It just means that the MC can have sex with multiple girls without bad consequences. Nothing to do with whether he can have any or all of them at the same time in the same bed.

Probably needs to be re-defined then, with a second tag added:

Harem = as many other partners as you can get (want), up to and including all the primary LIs
Pseudo-Harem = at least two other partners, but not all the LIs

It's definitely misleading as-is. I've played only 2-3 games that had solo routes, and only because they were fantastic games (like LoF). The next level up was one other game that had the possibility of a harem with 4 girls. Everything else was basically unlimited (through their current development).

As a harem lover I find a clear and distinct difference between a Harem and a Pseudo-Harem, and I actively try to avoid the pseudos. Fortunately, I take time to read topics and do searches before downloading and playing, which has weeded out a lot of the pretenders before becoming a waste of time.

Just my .02 on all of it.

Would you consider Ripples a Harem or pseudo-harem then?
