I'm not particularly interested in romancing Darci - the "teach me how to sex" theme in her scenes just doesn't fit her personality well imo, I know it's supposed to come across as a tsundere excuse but it just really doesn't vibe with the rest of her - but I like her as a character. She's a good friend and fun to hang out with. I'm still doing her route in a lot of my playthroughs, just to see where it goes and if it improves, but her lewds so far just don't do anything for me. But I think removing her from the game - even ignoring her plot relevancy and delegating her various roles to other characters - would make it a much worse experience over all. She's not a good LI, to me, but she's a good character.
As I've said before, I liked her at first, but she's worn thin over the episodes. And you're kind of saddled with her presence no matter what, afaik, in terms of her following you around and being 'comedic' relief and getting drunk and stuff.Darci seems to be a... divisive... character around here

Also in terms of her hooking you up with her girlfriends - don't forget that, it's important.
I agree with the theme not really vibing, and I always thought it was strange that if you do turn down her "teach me sex" stuff, she still gropes you at the breakfast table, and the MC says many times that they feel like they'll get a chance later on to change their mind and maybe have a different relationship with her. But nothing comes of that sadly

She doesn't really need anyone to teach her. But she likes pretending as though she does.
She's not a tsundere type. They've always been good friends. It's clear from the beginning that she adores the MC. She wants him. This is how she shows it.
No one has to like her. But she's a major part of the story. The MC's best friend. She's not going anywhere. I think you get the choice to not do anything sexual with her. I wouldn't know for sure because there was no chance I was turning her down.

Call me weird then because I liked her a lot as soon as I saw her. Krystal and Skylar are gorgeous, yeah, but Darci held my attention from my first playthrough a few years ago. I've played other VNs with characters like her and latched on to them as well. I have a 2019 solo route with her as well as a Gotta Catch 'Em All, that includes everyone in 2019 that's possible.
Either way, I'm looking forward to see what happens the morning after the bedding of Jenny. Would all the noise they made have woken Darci up and will her hearing said noise make her want to be more forward towards the MC?

The "childhood friend becomes lover" is generally a winner for me (e.g., Annie in Eternum), but Darci just isn't doing that much for me, at least not yet. Of course, at this point, we're pretty weak on the "becomes lover" part of that--MC and Darci are just occasionally messing around.
Are you suspecting that her actually hearing them would push her along? Because she already knows MC's having sex--at least with Krystal, and probably with others.

Well, she's hearing it 'first-hand', or could be hearing it, and according to the dev update, there are scenes with Darci in .9, who's to say one of them isn't a lewdie when they get back to 2019? All of Jenny's screaming and moaning could make Darci move forward with her feelings for him

Yes, the fact that the teaching is a pretense is obvious. That's what makes her a tsundere - you don't have to pretend to outright hate someone to be one, you just have to vehemently deny that you actually like them - "what? That guy? No way! He's just my best friend... whose dick I sometimes suck."
I don't even think that's an issue; it feels natural for her to be too proud and tomboyish to readily admit she's caught feelings. What feels unnatural to me is the sex teaching thing. That narrative just doesn't feel like the Darci we see in every other scene, y'know?
I think the better route to go with her would've been some form of competitive teasing - she and the MC absolutely love ribbing each other and it seems right up their alley that they would be constantly trying to escalate that shit in order to get a reaction out of each other. They also seem the type of friends to do stupid bets and dares that, likewise, would escalate in sexual tension.
Start off small: Darci grabbing MC's dick at breakfast was a great example. She's trying to get a reaction out of him and embarrass him, but it doesn't explicitly confirm that she wants to fuck him - just that she wants to fuck with him. When he confronts her later, she either does something again to goad him further, or she plays innocent and he does something to get back at her.
Later they make a bet, maybe over video games. They're talking trash, each determined to beat the other, and Darci says "okay tough guy, if you lose you've gotta play the next game in your underwear, how about that?" She's just messing with him, of course, and he agrees on the condition that if she loses she has to be the one to strip. Then you can choose to tryhard or lose on purpose, depending on how you want the scene to play out. Winning means Darci is in her underwear and teases you with that to beat you the next round; maybe this is where she first realizes her feelings, that she kind of liked having your eyes on her and wants to explore that feeling, or maybe she already knew but now is wondering if you feel the same and decides to up the ante. If you choose to lose, she gets more hot and bothered than she expected by your pecs and spends the whole next round staring. Either way, we win.
After that things start to become more daring, neither party willing to back down and both secretly wanting to go further but too bad at communicating to just openly ask the other. It's not exactly a new trope, so I'm sure you can fill in the blanks. A kiss here, some hand or oral stuff there. That scene with Jackie smugly sipping wine while listening to them bicker about blowjobs? That's exactly the vibe I think her route should have. Save the sex teacher stuff for someone who fits it better. This whole teasing rivalry thing feels so much more Darci to me.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I see her as well, of all the girls she's probably my favorite, she's your closest friend and the one you know she'll always have your back but when it comes to her as a LI, I think the whole teacher-student thing gets a bit overused, specially in the beginning. I don't even think she's a good tsundere fit at all, I think she should've just start getting into you as you go together to 1999 culminating in a sex scene during the party, I think that progression would have been more natural to her.

I'd have rather had a scene with Darci at the party rather than yet another one with Scarlett; or at least not have had the one with Tori.

That's not what a tsundere is. A basic characteristic of a tsundere is that they act negatively, whether cold or hostile, toward the other person, and only show any type of affection over time. This is not how Darci behaves. She has been his best friend since practically the moment they met.
I disagree that the teaching doesn't seem like her. It's a fun game, a way for her to get more intimate without having to say straight out that she wants him. She's used to showing her affection through teasing. This is an extension of the same indirect approach.
Jestur could have gone with escalating teasing getting them there as well, but it's not a better fit for Darci, only a different one. In the video game scene we get some action in line with what you suggest. And in the fight scene in the woods. It's gone beyond teaching. That was where it started but not where it is now.

On a more serious note though, the problem isn't that she's a "tomboy." The problem is that it's turned up to eleven so much that it's less "tomboy" and more just loud, obnoxious and violent. And while there's clearly much kindness in her heart, she's also inconsiderate and self-absorbed, self-righteous and just overall toxic person.
When I was younger she's probably speak very much to my spirit of adventure, sense of justice and love for sparring of both verbal and physical kinds, but to my current withered mind and wretched body she really just boils down to "obnoxious and toxic."
EDIT: I feel like some might try to convince me of her positive qualities and/or me being off the mark with her negative traits. For example, someone might come exaplaining how she'll do everything to help a friend in need. And that is true. That is the kindness I mentioned. But she's also the type of person who'll hear about a problem and goes and solves it. And she will not consider whether it needs solving or her friend's thoughts and feelings on any of it. And she'll do things her way without thinking through what consequences her actions will have and how those will affect others.

Darci is an obnoxious brat with a heart of gold... but toxic? It may very well be your feeble body, as you say, but she's a long way from fiction or irl toxic people, I'd say.
