My answer is people subscribe to him because he release stand alone art commissions and not just Rogue Like. If Rogue Like was his only thing I am sure he would be losing subscribers. Not to mention because we can't see how much he is earning we don't know how happy his subscribers are.I'm lost. How is someone maintaining the same level of subscribers for 10 YEARS means that his art has gotten worse? Like his numbers didn't even drop during the pandemic. Like, are you expecting infinite growth forever? Why is Oni not having infinite growth mean his subscribers checked out? I mean, his levels didn't drop DURING THE PANDEMIC. If there was a time for checked out people to cut costs, it was then. Not only that, have you seen the number of people that voted in the polls? That's around 50% of his paid members.
They also stick around in hopes of getting one of the girls they like and hopes he doesn't fuck her up beyond recognition.
Also just because someone dislikes some of the stuff he releases doesn't mean all of it is bad.
For instance I absolutely dislike Kitty's blow job animation, cause her head is just weird, but all her other poses a great. Oni's Emma is extremely hot, but doesn't mean I don't dislike her doggy position because she looks like a totally different person even though it is still extremely hot, nor does it mean I like her cowgirl positions because of the bad proportions and perspective. I think Oni's Laura and Rogue is extremely hot and all their artwork is good in terms of consistency and proportions, doesn't mean I won't complain about how janky their animations are since he just uses they standing idle poses and moves them up and down for some of the posses. Jubilee for the most part is well proportioned and her animations are decent, but doesn't change the fact that Oni does a horrible job shading her, and her feet covering the view of her anus and pussy during sex has to be an intentional F U to the players because there is no way he doesn't know that would annoy the players.
Point is there is lots to criticize even if you like some of his stuff.
Just like most people will criticize Youtube for being awful, dysfunctional search that shows you completely irrelevant stuff, shadow banning, content suppression, promoting scams and propaganda, DCMA abuse, rabbit hole recommendations, constant UI changes, removing of quality of life features, etc... and yet it is still the most used video hosting platform and growing.
Why? Because there is nothing like Youtube out there. Nothing can compete with Youtube because other companies can't afford to roll out servers nodes across the globe, storage, and pay for the bandwidth costs like Youtube because they don't have another company like Google subsidizing their freemium model. Same with Twitch and Amazon. Both Youtube and Twitch lose huge amounts of money each year, but are only around because Google and Amazon use them as a loss leader.
Oni is in a kind of similar position where his game is the only one that really gives you lots of choices during sex, while having semi-dynamic animations, and not soul sucking amount of grind / reading. While being partial subsidized by his art commissions.
I don't expect infinite growth, but if your numbers are stagnate for 10 years, it obviously doesn't mean people are particularly happy with what you're doing does it? And even if people aren't happy with what you're doing doesn't mean your numbers are always going to drop like the Youtube example where you're the only one filling a very particular niche.
The idea that if people are unhappy will mean that he would be losing Patreons, while people being happy with his work would mean he would be gaining Patreon members is a false dichotomy.
I already explained it to you. In a previous post. Dude has 6,000 patreons, he gets only about 10 people who ever says anything on each post. Almost none of it is meaningful critique or praise. Most of the responses are just reporting crashes, asking for next character, or basic game questions. So, if he had complaints, you'd say people hate his stuff. If he had no complaints, you'd say people have checked out. If he's getting praise (which he is. I've posted them), you'd still say people have checked out. With your statement and logic, there's no way he's NOT doing bad.
Patreon doesn't seem to be a place where people actively engages with him or discuss what is going on with game. Possibly maybe because he has a discord or he gets most of his feedback on some other forum board. Add that in with the social aspect of each platform, like how I compared Patreon and F95.
People can also greatly dislike something and it isn't reflected everywhere. For instance more people are likely to complain on yelp about something than directly on some restaurant's facebook page.
So you asking for examples about people not being happy about Doreen on Patreon only seems to be just cherry picking.
