Hey everyone,
First of all, I wanted to wish everyone a nice kick-off to the holiday season. This time is always hectic with travel, family and, of course, bills.
I wanted to offer an update on the state of the game as 2025 draws to a close. We have been inundated with questions asking when the game will be released.
The best answer is both complicated and simple. The simple answer is that we probably won’t release it until after the New Year. The long answer is that while the majority of the writing is done, we still have about five to seven scripts [out of 30+] remaining to finish/polish, and then our artists will be rendering them and submitting them to the coder who will be adding them to the game as we go.
Now, if that sounds like a familiar message, it’s because it is. As soon as we finish one thing, two other tasks pop up that need to be completed as well.
And all this time, you folks have been extremely patient with us. And while we appreciate that more than you know, we feel a little guilty about making you pay for our relative inexperience and slow pace in sorting everything out so the framework of the game will not need to make players restart the game or some other nonsense.
With that in mind,
we are pausing subs until the end of 2025. This
doesn’t mean the game is abandoned or an exercise in clusterfuckery. It just means we aren’t going to make you loyal, wonderful folks pay while we sort everything out.
We aren’t out to milk our supporters; this pause is to reflect how much we care about you. You have supported us in our leanest of times - some of you from the very beginning. As we get ever closer to release, we’re pausing the subscriptions to ensure that you know how much we appreciate you. You guys are so wonderful that I get a little
verklempt at how much faith you have placed in us to do something that no one else has been able to successfully accomplish. I am truly humbled. Thank you.
So this was a unanimous decision by the devs to double down on our efforts to finish everything and only look for restart payment when we have product ready for player-testers and close enough to release that we begin hopping around like bunnies on espresso.
I will still be posting updates, keeping you appraised as we close in on our release date enough to announce it. Each post will also have an image or two from the game or one to commemorate the Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/Bodhi Day as well as Boxing Day, New Years’ and Winter Solstice. The image selection won’t be covering all of those holidays this year, but we will get around to them. If you think there’s a holiday we should commemorate, let us know. If your kick is the Setsuban Festival or Anastenaria, let us know.
TL;DR: Our first job is to make the best game we can. Our second job is to make sure you guys get to see and play that. Until we get closer to accomplishing the first task, we are pausing subscriptions until we have a release date. There will still be weekly posts and renders.
