i dont get the image

do i need to tick the 1st image
and edit ip on 2nd image?
You must ensure that the checkbox is unchecked in this location. If it is checked, uncheck it, apply the settings, then proceed to edit the ini file and add the line as shown in the second screenshot.

I have nowhere to test whether it works.

Can you tell me how bad running Sandboxie with internet access is?
Or is it just optional?

since anything happened in sandboxie
It happened inside Sandboxie...
and inside that box is just an empty box...

There's no leak going to happen when I open internet access out of the box...right?

so I can just press yes to everything when Sandboxie wants this app to have internet access...
Look, it's your computer and your information; you can do whatever you want. The current iteration of the virus uses internet access to download its payload, so it's an extremely bad idea because you are removing one of the layers of protection for your sandbox, allowing the payload to be downloaded and run, and then trusting that the attacker hasn't coded his program to escape Sandboxie.

Will you still be protected in the near term from what we know of the virus? Probably. Is it a good idea? No. If a specific game needs internet access, there is an option to add exceptions. Use it. Like, I recently installed Eu5; it crashed because controlled folder access prevents it from writing files to my profile folder.

So I had three choices: ask for a refund or add an exception to controlled folder access. I chose to add an exception. Of course I could have just disabled controlled folder access entirely too it's easy just slide it to the right but I didn't because that is not how you approach security if you forget your keys all the time the solution isn't to leave your front door unlocked permanently. You get a key finder or find some way on your end to work around it.

Sorry if this is obvious, but after reading your comment I went to look for controlled folder access myself. Could you possibly explain where it is. or if it is listed using different words?

This has nothing do with your issue it was specific to me. Controlled Folder access can be found by simply typing it into the search section of windows

You select a prompt if you want or manually add exceptions.

A few days ago I was playing a game in sandboxie and when I close the game the window to recover the saves files didn't appear, I just thought that it was a weird error, but when I ran the game in sandboxie again there wasn't any saves. I thought that I fucked up and that I disabled the options of "recover files" and "auto delete" but I checked the options of my sandbox and those options were enabled. I checked if my saves in other games had also been deleated and everything was fine, I even checked if in my others games the window to recover files appeared and yeah it showed up. Does anyone know why this happens, or someone had the same "error"? (the game where this happens is "Parasite Black")

For some reason, the developer of this game disabled saves in AppData\Roaming\Renpy, leaving only saves in the game folder ([Parasite Black]\game\saves). Therefore, if you do not have a recovery folder set up from the location where the game is stored, the window will not appear, and this is not a bug.

wait is this real? its my first time ever heard thare runing some shit also has chance it escape out of sandboxie????

also like i said i already did the option exceptions on mtool to runing internet inside sandboxie
and drag and drop game in mtool that runing inside sandboxie count as runing game inside sandboxie as well
but the thing is
when i drag and drop game on mtool that runing inside sandboxie

it asking told you that this app or the game require internet accress (especially rpgm game)

1762502276870.png

as the guide i mention earlier he told me that
" i allow it manually through the prompt pop ups for every process in the mtool"
so he "yes" on everything everytime you tried to run mtool game in sandboxie

but it give me concern that
what would happened if i jackpot some game that having malware download code inside then?
what if i just give internet acressed to the game that have that code runing in sandboxie?
and judge by what you said...am i going to get fucked after this?

No one has tested (or at least no one has mentioned it here) how capable Lumma really is of escaping Sandboxie. But even while inside it, the virus can collect information about your passwords, and if you have opened access to the internet, the collected information will be sent to the attackers' server.

Therefore, unblocking Internet access is a huge security hole, even if you only allow access for individual applications. I already wrote about this in post above.

Therefore, I strongly advise against opening access to the internet in any case. Look for ways to run the game without it, and many games (even those based on the RPGM engine) work perfectly well without the internet. Personally, if I can't find a way to run a game without the internet, I just throw it away.

But it's up to you. After all, it's your security, not mine.

The sandbox does not block reading files or the registry; it blocks changes to files and the registry. So the virus can collect data. This has been discussed many times here and in another thread.
So Internet access is pretty much all a virus needs to do its dirty work. Even in a sandbox.

sandboxie just gave me a prompt "sandman did not finish enumerating installation windows update" I should have taken a screenshot but I didn't. I'm not sure if someone has already asked about this and if so can you direct me to it. It seems important and would like to fix it before playing anymore games on my PC.
