I really want to try this game out after hearing lots of good things about it, yet i am unable to play it.
I've done everything anyone is saying (unpack, running it on japanese local, getting all rtp rpg makers, downloading the already english patched versions...) yet the game just opens a black window... and then closes.
No error pops up, just closes after 2 seconds...
I am going crazy what am i doing wrong?

Did you switch to Japanese Locale before unpacking files? Some extraction programs unpack files with japanese characters incorrectly and it can cause bugs.

Yes i have done both of those things, its just so weird that no error pops up, i dont understand what it doesnt like

I have the same problem. I used to run this game on Windows 7, but now on Win 10 It's exactly how You describe it.

It might be your antivirus, check its Quarantined items and if it is there then add that folder to exceptions. This behaviour sounds like Avast to me.

After a lot of tinkering i decided to try and boot it up on my home pc instead of my laptop (where i usually get these nice games if you know what i mean) cause i had a hunch... it launched downloading the patched game and installing the rtp without any problems... so it was the laptop the problem, i cant say if maybe it's all the rtp i have installed (on my laptop i have all rtp of rpg makers, on my home pc i downloaded only the one needed for this game) that mess up with this game.
I have tried with the antivirus like you said and still nothing... guess i will play it from my home pc, leaving this game's mystery behind me

You can also play on your phone using Joiplay. Worked for me there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I see that the OP's decensor patch from is nowhere to be found. Is this one the only one available?

I commissioned an artist to fix the last scene in the game. I personally think this looks off, especially with the legs and boobs.

Anyone manage to get this running on Win 12? Got the full suite of rtp's (even regrabbed the jp vers of vx to be sure), have extracted it in UTF-8 and Shift-JIS encoding, still not working. Compatibility modes for win XP sp2, sp3, and win 7 don't help, neither does admin mode. Worth noting that the .rgssad is reading as corrupt when trying to extract it, have tried all of the working links in the OP with no sucess. Not sure if it's a bad version uploaded, or if there's an issue on my end (if there is, guessing it's something with the .rar).

Would appreciate it it someone who has this working could upload a freshly zipped version (specify encoding please), would like to be able to confirm that the issue is on my end.

Note: tried ticketing the op a month or so back requesting a confirmation that the uploaded files actually worked (given the rgssad reads as corrupt), no responce.

Your Windows 12 is way too advanced for this game. It doesnt exist yet. That's why it doesnt work.

1.) You cant extract .rgssad file with WinRar. You have to download RPG All Decrypter (link).

1) I'm aware. Been doing so for 10-15 years. Grabbed a different decryptor when I upgraded my system, that one works though.
2) Thought I mentioned I tried that, but looking back, guess I didn't mention it. Not a solution though

Did get the rgssad extracted without issues, so the issue's on my end, not a bad upload. Still have an old machine I can boot up and run it on I guess, but would preferred to actually solve the issue.

Edit: Just confirmed that Siren's harp works, so shouldn't be rtp related.

You didnt specificy what your problem, so how the people are supposed to help you?

Your previous post has the guide that will tell you how to finish the quest. Just play the game and you are good.
I finished the game without walkthrough. It is easy.

Download, install and activate program called: Lossless Scaling

This is an extreme necro but I solved the "crashing on start up no error message."

Download this and download Siren's Harp.

Steal the game.ini and RGSS104J.dll from Siren's Harp and insert it into the SoG folder, overwrite any files asked for.

Run SoG.

Fixed.

Thanks for help. For me it worked but there was no text displayed because I downloaded Siren's Harp that had RGSS104E.dll file not RGSS104J.dll . To fix that I edited game.ini and changed line "library = RGSS104E.dll"
