i can't understand why so many people are mad this game was rebuild into something unplayable and then abandoned.
Hello, it was never good in the first place. Just a low effort trash cheap copy of karryn's prison with dumb gameplay and above average art. The dev literally had no idea what he was doing, it was a mess from the start
Straight up wrong about the game not being good. This many people wouldn't be that pissed if the game wasn't worth being angry about being destroyed.

It was a copy of Karryn's prison's combat mechanics, but the art was really good, not just above average.

Story? Eh, no one cared. We just wanted more sex battles. Which again, were fantastic. But they did take grinding to unlock, more so than Karryn's did, so it sounds like you probably never made it that far.

The game, at least until 0.14 when Velminth decided to change the whole battle system, was great. The art was good, the mechanics were similar to KP without being a straight up copy, and the worldbuilding snippets seemed very interesting.

And then Dev-kun decided to remake the game, Twice in a row in 3 updates before abandoning it when people lost interest and he burnt out.

Calling it "trash cheap copy" proves that you either haven't played it or at just straight up trolling.

lets all press F for this game that once was one of the greatest and most promising rpg maker game, having a very hot tomboy as a protagonist with a very decent world and exploration and a good amount of variety of enemies and H...
hope one day someone make a similar game (no I dont mean Karryns prison)
Is was a good journey...

Alright, so for my understanding.
Quick summary:
- Dev got burned out to draw
- Game got dramatically changed in its mechanics mid development (for no reason apparently)
- People are pissed now and the F95 gang are as always the big bads if things go south

Huh, I never played any version (only saw some promo pics and thought it looked nice) so my opinion is not as based but changing core mechanics and switch genres in the middle of development is always a bad move in any scenario.

Sure the dev is entitled to do so. It's his game, but people (paying or not) are entiteld to voice their concerns as well.
The game has been marketed for something that it is not anymore and his patreons where paying for the original vision.

This may be not fraud (as I read further down the thread) but it sure are broken promises.
Time to move on I guess. I doubt that this project will recover in a meaningful way.

Didn't have the soul of an animator then.
I disagree with this. I think it's understandable to get burnt out if things go in such a way where you basically have to start over again and probably not getting any further than they did in the previous version. It can be frustrating.

What the hell do any of the menu options on the map screen in this update even mean? Nothing is explained here, jeez it's like every update the dev adds 5 convoluted things that aren't explained. And the game glitched out when I lost so now there's a permanent trio of dicks and cum splatter on the map screen for me.

Everyone keeps saying he should have just made the original rpg, but we're all ignoring we never got more than a single chapter for a reason. It's impressive enough Vel picked up music. Learning pixel art, implementing combat mechanics, level design, progression systems, and writing all at the same time is a steep hill to climb. I think he probably should finished everything remaining incomplete content in v13 or v15, concluded the game with the single chapter, and saved any future ideas for a new less ambitious project to continue the story. Barring that putting it on hold after overhaul is reasonable.

is it weird to feel sad for a porn game?
You don't feel sad for the porn game.
You feel sad because of the gap between your expectation and reality.
You would not feel sad if you had no expectations.
You have brought sadness into your existence by craving a world that did not come to be.
You carved a weakness into your heart by longing for a dream.
You crippled yourself with childish wishes.
You must cast aside desire to find appeasement.
You must free yourself from the shackles of emotional attachment.
You can only be the master of your destiny by shedding your self.

Through the heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one.
Have a nice day.

Hindsight 20/20, but yeah if he just polished up pre-version 16 Saria and had you entering the city as the official ending (which it may as well be) to the game then I think he'd receive almost nothing short of praise. It's a common sentiment in the thread if you go several pages back. To repeat something that's been said 100s of times: if versions 16-17 were its own separate thing then there'd be practically no anger, but only praise and excitement.

Another sign that trying to hybridise between a VN and an actual game with gameplay is always a mistake, at best it just results into something good that's still just worst than what it could've been if it sticked to either approaches, and with how rampant VNs are currently, it's much more commendable to stick to gameplay.

This game already was an actual game and a decent one at that. There was no reason to remake it into a recipe that always fails, especially if one of the concern is the effort to be put into the game; I don't know where this misconception that seemingly every fucking devs fall into came from, but a VN does not take less effort than making an actual game. Streamlining the content you put out so that dozens of hours of work result into something that gets consumed within 30-ish minutes just means you have to work more by extension to reach the same level of playtime (who'll keep people busy instead of complaining about your small releases) that even a basic ass gameplay loop can achieve. If you make a VN because you are too scared about the "effort" of thinking about gameplay, you are self-sabotaging yourself.
