Damn... the fact that this game has so much potential just to be abondoned by the developer.
Yeah, some people were insanely entitled in the Discord from what i heard. They don't realize artists like these can make enough money by just doing single art commissions on pixiv and posting art on fanbox/ci-en.

When they're rude and these games with a lot of effort get abandoned everyone but the Artist loses.

I don't think it helped that the guy made multiple changes to the basic gameplay that weren't popular. It started as very similar to Karryn's Prison, with timed attacks and a rock paper scissors system. Then it changed to a deck builder system which wasn't popular. Then to a pretty shitty visual novel system. All of this with minimal actual progression to game content. If I was supporting them from the first version, I'd find the card game system fine, but switching to the VN system would just be a no to me.

As i stated in my review back then : Wanting to stick to your Vision for the game is one thing, acting like an absolute pillock towards supporters and non-supporters alike is quite another.

Man flew too close to the sun and it felt like to me grew a massive ego because of it.

Shame, because the talent for the Art itself is clearly there.

Probably because he didn't get the return he expected from the new game. Who would have imagined that abandoning the previous game in a deplorable state and then announcing a new game wouldn't be well received by supporters and the community?
I wasn't aware he moved on to another game. What was it?

Yeah, its really a shame. I started following the game when it was basically Karryn's Prison with a musclegirl - when he switched to the weird card system, I thought it was a significant downgrade but I stuck with it (supporting on patreon) but then he turned it into a shitty VN and I dropped.

Certainly a game that suffers from the creator having an idea, but not being sure how to actually do it I imagine.
Karryn's Prison was popular when it came out, but maybe they just decided that system didn't flow well with their ideas or its just a pain to handle.

Or they could be someone who is easily influenced by things they liked. So they used Karryn's battle system because they liked it at the time, then found another system they liked, so they retooled everything to fit that... then changed their mind... and so on and so forth.

Which is a shame, as they seemed to have thought up a fairly different world setting, with some nice character designs. But it seems we'll never figure out what they had in mind, as either they just lost interest in it themselves, or the negative reactions to all the changes killed their interest in it. Or both.

It's the latter, and even when he stuck to original vision it too was in constant flux of changes and kinda lost direction once you reached the town hub at end of the demo.
He was initially inspired by LISA and obviously Karryn, then later on was heavily influenced by Project Moon.

I get the impression it was less about what the dev was into and moreso the dev was way in over his head. Like you'd think that with how insanely popular Karryn's Prison was there'd be tons of copycats, right? My guess is that there isn't that many because it's actually very labor intensive and time consuming to build a combat system like it. Realistically speaking, it isn't something a newbie gamedev with no experience can make in a few short years, even if he were to make it 1:1. But instead of doing that, he tried to give it the Dark Souls feel with none of the driving mechanics behind Karryn's Prison. People had been complaining about how jank balancing was and how hard it was to see the porn content. So he switches to a deckbuilder.

To probably no one's surprise, having a deckbuilder that lets you freely challenge enemies for cards and whatever else repeatedly isn't a good balancing decision. Combat was slow as hell and decks easy to abuse. It wasn't fun. People were pissed off and wanted him to go back to what it was like before, but he probably knew damn well by this point that it's not possible to continue down the KP route. So what does he do? He makes the safest decision to make a VN.

While it's true that a VN would be considerably easier, it would require him to basically scrap all his work. There's almost nothing he can reuse other than the CG. He's basically have to start from scratch. Of course no one's happy with that decision either, so the game's just dead.

tl;dr: He's a great artist, and that's it. Without a decent crew with actual gamemaking experience and knowledge, and a decent income to pay them, there's no way this game would be been anything but abandoned.

Speaking of the KP inspired combat, really the biggest issue with it is, from what we see, Saria isn't the kind to ever engage in using the sexual attacks herself.
That being said, I always felt that was the biggest flaw with KP using it at all either. Karryn, as a character introduced, isn't the type to do it.
But the mechanic exists because its something the players would want her to do.

I mean, that's what corruption mechanics are all about I suppose.

To be fair, it takes abit of work to get Karryn willing to fuck even if going out of your way to do so (Jank aside where 100 lewd skills overrides her into full slut mode.)
