For example let's take that masturbation scene, instead of the player controlling/watching the masturbation scene through son, it would be much better experience to see the scene as a consequence of our previous choices and just be a passive watcher.
Like if we complement and flirt enough with Paula the scene happens and if not it doesn't.
There are times for that, surely.
And as time passes, and the various variables accumulate, and the storylines get farther apart, the differences will get more dramatic.
There already are scenes and parts of scenes that you can't see if you've made a certain choice - even in the pool scene, by the way.
As for the shower scene, I do not think this is the case, because the whole purpose of it is to drive what happens next: the conversation between Paula and MC in MC's room.
This (the conversation) is a pivotal scene for the whole game, and it heavily depends on how and in what mood Paula enters it.
So, the decisions that MC made - and the thoughts of Paula based on those decisions - had to be made there. Nothing could stay passive, and MC in no way could be just a spectator.
There also was a practical element that entered my calculations for the scene: as there is a whole branch that wasn't yet published, of Jessica intervening in the story, I wanted the two branches to share as much as they could regarding rendered images and variables. The images - to save time; and the variables so that Jessica's side story, while advancing the Jeesica-line, won't influence the main MC / Paula storyline.
In short, it's complicated.
There are scenes that needs to be watched by the player from a passive point of view..
Absolutely.
The first masturbation scene in Paula's room, for example.
Or even just the Nina scene in her own bathroom, or the girls' college shower scene.
I know it was long ago, but we are actually still in the afternoon of the first day of the game - second day, if you consider it started the night before on Paula's balcony, but still less than 24 hours of game-time.
I hope you get what I mean.
I
think I do.
But if you think I don't, please tell me - as I hope I have already demonstrated many times, I'm always ready for a discussion and for the sharing of opinions.
