the game starts out with some real nasty piece of work invoking it to buy your mom and sister. (as they are unwed women)
There is a loophole. if you also buy them before they meet him, then mom and sis get to choose which of the two owners will be their owner. they choose you.
you later buy several other women via the scarlet law.
there is a rebel group you interact with who is rebelling against the scarlet law.
