The story of this game is similar to the tale of Darth Plageuis, tragic. While it started as a BB clone, it had the extra to it with the whole school sthick, even if the core game mechanics and many plot elements were basically essential. It was growing gradually, and while it never became outstanding in any aspect, it had it's own heart.
Then somewhere along the way it started to shift content wise into a territory that wasn't what brought in the original audience, despite the game having a very rich roster of characters and endless possibilities. Maria, one of the main women, had barely any new content or repeatables, and comparing to the rest of the household it was miniscule, which in an incest game where the Milfcest is a big pulling factor was already weird as shit. New events started to lean towards sharing, like a whole questline built up around Lily getting shared with the agressive arrogant lesbian Ako, or Sam who had a very basic route got the Bill sharing route, while there wasn't any alternative to these. If you were unwilling to go along with the sharing, you had no content any further with them, and you had to search for anything new that you might like with a magnifying glass within the updates. There was the Charlotte route that ended up basically a dead end, which didn't make any sense, any time putting into it was basically wasted, both from developer and player side. Several progression were just halted abruptly without any event tying them up, or having any hint of their future, while they had good possibilities in them. Not to mention small stuff, like the MC fucking over 20 girls overall, and still being a fastshot, something that even in-game the girls pointed out.
After this slump, Walkius decided to make a new game, put this one on hold, and that's when it visibly all went south. Before that, other factors were able to mask the problems, but then they became apparent. Making another game, while the one that created the crowd you have is always a risk, but making a game in the same universe, with the guy as the new lead, who was the hated NTR representation in the previous one, and trying to make him likeable while trashing the previous MC is not something you could rationalize in any way. I said months ago that it was a bad idea, and now it seemingly flopped, as it was expected.
So we come back to SLF again, with a supposedly revamped version, and what does it have?
Much of the previous content cutted out, which shouldn't be a bad thing if it gets made into better later on, but that's not so sure. Animations that doesn't even work for the majority of the players, a cadre of bugs, and barely any improvements, if it's anything, the game mostly devolved. The statistics for different relationships and skills remained still. They got nerfed a bit, but it's still grindy. If it weren't for the money cheat, I wouldn't be willing to touch it. Yeah, the school aspect feels less constricted, but it's essentially the same. MC had a scummy but relatively fine character build, but now he's a little 13 year old wannabe acting pervy shit, and a pussy. The script is still very often engrish instead of English, just the same as before. That could've used proofreading, it needs it desperately. Many of the renders are still the same, while some flies along just fine, the introduction ones are outright horrible now. A very basic feature like rollback is missing, often there are those needless grey transitions, the music cannot be adjusted in any menu. The map and the interactions on it are revamped, there's a new gui, that is better and feels much smoother.
While it's somewhat fresher, most of the revamped aspects feels a cosmetic, and not necessarily a quality improvment. If there's a need for a revamp, do it properly, otherwise it could've just continued from where it left off.
