The modder hasn't been out of contact. Boner Games boned himself, when he threatened to sue the guy... the guy that helped him on his game for free. Since the DRM was so poorly implemented, he had to go through some of it, to even mod the game (which also improved performance a lot). How much has the DRM stopped anyone? Quite evident by this forum that the answer is nobody. The modder tried to make it work, but the developer was such an asshole in his stipulations, that he effectively made it impossible.

Yes he has, there has been zero comment on this in the mod thread from Lain himself and the last several comments over the last month have been 'where is the update' or 'when is this getting updated' with no answer, he just outright disappeared from it without even telling us whether he was continuing or canceling it. That's as out of contact as it gets. Yes, this DRM is really a shot in the dev's foot. He thinks he can stop us, but all he's doing is hurting his pocketbook by limiting the exposure the game gets.

You have no idea, lol. He said he won't be able to continue modding and the dev lost all the potential of his game when he let patreon to fuck with it, he took it like a good little dog. Most of the developers would quit patreon after being forced to change the looks of the characters so drasticly, which not only renders the game complete trash but also requires YOU working extra to fuck your own game. If game creators weren't such a bunch of pussies and worked together to find a solution to this, either Patreon would get in line or it'ld lose money from games that it "doesn't approve". They could very well create a +18 section for adult games if they're worried about the reputation.

I'm not saying Lain went completely dark, I was saying he was out of contact in the actual mod thread. I guess I'll break the news over there myself for those that don't know. Thank you for the info, I was completely unaware because I was using the mod thread exclusively when looking for mod info.

To be fair, it was either drop the incest and make the characters older looking or shut down production of the game completely. We already know where the dev's loyalties lie as far as the game thanks to his stance on modding, in his profits, so it was obvious he wasn't going to shut down production if he could salvage it. If he really cared, he could move funding to Subscribestar, which to my knowledge allows the content Patreon does not.

Not to mention copyright law, which is what the suit was citing. Under current copyright law, mods do not count as copyright infringement because they are separate from the program being modded. Also, Boner Games gave up any rightful claim to the incest content when they dropped it from the game in the first place. It is no longer a part of the product and therefore is no longer protected by copyright laws as such.
