it says help michelle excercise but her house is locked what do i do?

I am in a similar position, except Michelle's house is unlocked, it's just that exercising is all the journal says to do. I haven't played the game since October last year, so there should have been more stuff for me to do. Is there something I need to do to trigger the ability to resume making progress with the girls and the main quest? Or is this just a save incombatability issue, and I need to start over?
