I guess anything is possible in the future, but for the moment I have to let you down - no such crazy awesome feature in the game now. It is still just an intro to what can be.Inspired by Summertime Saga... does that inspiration also include a certain pregnancy minigame?
Also Cheating tag, does that mean you're banging some married gals (and hopefully someday breeding them)?
He he, careful about what you're asking for...Later down the line? It would be nice if we could change the MC's appearance a bit. You know, clean him up, give him a proper haircut and a nice suit or something. Show that his life is picking back up and he's happier, you know?
I have already implemented the advancement with the click of the mouse. I just did not want to release new version after one tiny change. But it will be in the next update for sure. Along with the saving exactly where the save happens and not at the beginning of the scene. Also more options for the settings and probably also wall of fame section where the player can rewatch previous scenes...something like a cookie jar from SS.OK, J-Cup_ against my good interest, I stopped and tried your game.
First, as someone already pointed out in harsher but well-deserved terms: advancing the dialogue only via spacebar is really inconvenient. Please, consider adding the possibility of using a mouse click.
Thank you, I was seriously bummed about everyone hating the mini-game. I thought giving players some kind of a challenge would be nice change of pace. But I will still keep it as an optional side-quest in the future update.I didn't find the memory game particularly difficult. I played all 3 sizes with the easier bot and actually as the grid increased, the game became easier and easier.
Might be all the training with Indecent Desires (no cheater here), but I'm someone that has serious memory problems, so I don't think I'm advantaged there.
Well, those praises go to my friend illustrator, but I am happy on his behalf, because he is very talented. You already heard enough praises about the art and the visuals and you'll hear more again and again.
Again, thank you for the praise...it was exactly the point to paint him as an insecure and basically frozen in development to almost an annoying level. So I guess job well done. The story is nice. Quite harsh, but as this is just the intro for a much more empowered James, it definitely works.
I just couldn't stand any longer in the room with him and Naomi. It was terribly embarrassing I just wanted to dive for the door. I guess you can file this as praise about how well you wrote a middle-aged character that burned all the bridges with his social (and sexual) life for 20 years
Anyway, I grew fond of dorky, messy James, I'm a bit sorry that he's going to be upgraded.
The mistake is with me here. I am complete newb in these kinds of games - honestly I did not know that this is a convention in these kinds of games. I only played few of them, so I am still learning. But I already have a plan how to modify and change it without drastic change in the gameplay and story, so that the player can choose whether to have or not to have any of those sexual encounters. You'll hear a lot of criticism because of the non-avoidable sex scene with Naomi. It puzzles me to no end, but the consensus among players of porn games is that the porn must be optional. This said, I can't think how the story could make sense without that scene, so you'll just have to brace yourself.
Another thing that players hate is games where they can't rename the MC.
I will check that part of the dialogue. There are mistakes here and there and I could definitely use some native speaker to make it sound less awkward. May be if it gains some popularity, some native speaker will come forward willing to helpI noticed a small mistake: when James is wakened on the beach, the narrator says he's "past thirty". By 20 years.
As long as I'm concerned (being a non-native myself) the English is quite good, much better than I feared judging by the screenshots. You only have problems with the articles: are you from East Europe?
I would say, do not spoil it for them, but I guess I already spilled more than enough to realize what will happenHe he, careful about what you're asking for...
Oh don't worry, I never expect pregnancy mechanics in a first release, just mentioning my hopes for what content could appear in (likely much) later updatesI guess anything is possible in the future, but for the moment I have to let you down - no such crazy awesome feature in the game now. It is still just an intro to what can be.
I am writing down all the suggestions for improvement...do you mean something that would get you to next dialogue or to the next place where you have to do some decision?why is there no fast forward shit? such a tedious game
If I may suggest a feature, I see that many players love rewinding the dialogue and even being able to take different choices. It's one of the reasons Ren'Py is so loved here.I have already implemented the advancement with the click of the mouse. I just did not want to release new version after one tiny change. But it will be in the next update for sure. Along with the saving exactly where the save happens and not at the beginning of the scene. Also more options for the settings and probably also wall of fame section where the player can rewatch previous scenes...something like a cookie jar from SS.
Something that you could do is modifying the dialogue: when you quit the minigame, James rebutts that he wants to finish the game whatever it takes. That can disorient the player and give the impression that you need to finish all the stages of the minigame to advance with the story: you could have him stressing that his self esteem demands to finish "at least the first stage".Thank you, I was seriously bummed about everyone hating the mini-game. I thought giving players some kind of a challenge would be nice change of pace. But I will still keep it as an optional side-quest in the future update.
I hope not!does not mean he will be less awkward...at least in the beginnings. And I also want him to keep a certain level of humbleness, so there is definitely no plan to make him into jock asshole character.
I'm not really sure it's a convention rather than a pet peeve mostly found on F95, as I never suspected it existed until one year ago.The mistake is with me here. I am complete newb in these kinds of games - honestly I did not know that this is a convention in these kinds of games.
I see that you have actually a good grasp of literature and some unconfessed ambitions about how well you want the script to sound: I can tell you that it's refreshing when compared to many self-published games.I will check that part of the dialogue. There are mistakes here and there and I could definitely use some native speaker to make it sound less awkward. May be if it gains some popularity, some native speaker will come forward willing to help![]()
My bad and my apologies. In truth I originally wrote "are you Slavic?" but I didn't like how it sounded and changed it in haste. And you hit the region almost exactly...I am from Slovakia, which is technically Central Europe, but you know..kinda Eastern Europe as well.
Yes, I'm afraid stressing that the nerdy inventor was a gigachad and the ending animation showing a much fitter James didn't leave much to doubtI would say, do not spoil it for them, but I guess I already spilled more than enough to realize what will happen![]()
I will implement this feature for sure. I want to have all the features of RenPy and none of its constraints. But it is #1 tool for VN for a reason. I have a long way to go.If I may suggest a feature, I see that many players love rewinding the dialogue and even being able to take different choices. It's one of the reasons Ren'Py is so loved here.
Skipping dialogue can be useful for replay value, too.
Yes, completely agree with you on this one and this is the way I am going to do it actually. You verbalized it just like I had it in my headSomething that you could do is modifying the dialogue: when you quit the minigame, James rebutts that he wants to finish the game whatever it takes. That can disorient the player and give the impression that you need to finish all the stages of the minigame to advance with the story: you could have him stressing that his self esteem demands to finish "at least the first stage".
As the various stages give a reward (I unlocked only the first, that was a sexy pic), I think you already gave enough motivation to play the game
Anyway, I also second the suggestion of making the "skip" button a bit larger.
Yeah, I guess there is no way around. But I will make extra sure in the dialogues to point out that it is still the same James as before, just more fit. Selfless and humble.I hope not!
But I was fond also of his dorky look (even if it's mostly because of his outdoor night), and that's very clearly a goner.
Well...you knowwhat they say....[to-mej-touz] - [to-ma-touz]...crowd wants it, so the crowd gets it. It is not that important for me and if I make players happy without making myself miserable, it is a win-win situation.I'm not really sure it's a convention rather than a pet peeve mostly found on F95, as I never suspected it existed until one year ago.
All I know is that in almost every thread you'll find someone vocally complain about non optional sex scenes (to the point of not playing, let alone support games with them) and almost no one saying that they don't mind, so I believe it's better to err on the side of caution (unless the story really needs it).
I appreciate you saying that. I actually replay the dialogues and the monologues of a narrator in my head, when I write them. Sometimes, it is really difficult to get it right. You can not really transfer the rhythm and intonation into dialogues, so it does not always work out as planned. I rewrote some part more than ten times. I am perfectionist, which often keeps me from finishing stuff, because I am never fully satisfied with the result.I see that you have actually a good grasp of literature and some unconfessed ambitions about how well you want the script to sound: I can tell you that it's refreshing when compared to many self-published games.
The writing reminded me of a Serbian journalist, now deceased, that acted correspondant for a radio I follow. For reason that I don't know, he knew my language extremely well: he had an excellent vocabulary and used correctly even the most exotic tenses that leave most native speakers puzzled. But I'll be damned if I ever heard him using an article!
I will do that somewhere down the road for sure. Valuable advice - thank you.You can try putting a request in the "Recruitment and Services" section of this site. Literally 99% of the script is good, no "MTL poetry", so you shouldn't have problems finding some fan that will help you for free with the little finishing touches.
No reason to apologize - I was not offended. For all the intents and purposes, we are exactly same as Eastern Europeans - historically, mentally, geopolitically. I am pretty proud on my Slavic-nessMy bad and my apologies. In truth I originally wrote "are you Slavic?" but I didn't like how it sounded and changed it in haste.
In my defense, the line dividing Central from Eastern Europe is so blurred that in the past years many geographers and geopolitial analysts gave up trying and started lumping the two together.
I actually had planned to have a photo of him in a camo and two sexy girls on each shoulder, but I had no time / resources to get something that is so unimportant to the story yet so labor/resource intensive. I will get that photo eventuelly, because it will be a part of the plot as well. And the version, where he is nerdy just a few months before.Yes, I'm afraid stressing that the nerdy inventor was a gigachad and the ending animation showing a much fitter James didn't leave much to doubt![]()
Oh yeah, this is a feature of the electron-forge which packages the application for me. It creates installer for me, but I can easily switch it to just having the archive, which only needs to be extracted and exe file to be clicked to run. No installation. I thought this way would be better, but if you say that people do not want installers, then I guess I have to trust you with it. It goes into my DEV LOG with the other pointers.P.S.
Shutting down the PC I noticed your installation program did leave an icon on the desktop without asking my permission.
This can be a real deal breaker for several players.
the players aren't always right, there's a few game develop conference all about game not just good practice, like constantly having your game played tested and implementing changes to make the game different but better, but also knowing that there is a limit to this before player input becomes detrimental (couldn't find the gdc video detailing this...). But as you get more and more into game dev you'll learn to filter out what information best suits you in different situations. I've been trying to make a game on this site for a few years now, no 'game dev' tag yet but you might be able to notice I'm not new to the subject. It puzzles me to no end, but the consensus among players of porn games is that the porn must be optional. Hi Saki_Sliz, thank you so much for your crazy (in a good way) detailed feedback. I am going to read through it probably many more times, but I just wanted to let you know I value that you spent so much time on it and I definitely will take many useful pointers from your comment. Thanks so muchFinally got around to giving this a try

As you can see, I can easily go into a lot of details about a lot of things, but over all I really like what you are doing here. and I'm excited to see what kind of story you want to explore. It all very nicely made and professionally presented, the only thing I can think of is it needs some background music or something during the 'low' periods where I'm just going through dialog. Some writers I've talked with even find background music before they write and try to match the music with their writing even. but that's all for now!
And also thank you for understanding my vision. I am trying to tell the story and not just make a "fap" game. Don't get me wrong here, there is nothing wrong with the games that are like that. And I still want to make a game "fappable" (is that even a word?Looks like other replies were made while I worked on mine, and I saw some thing I have to give strongly disagree with and provide a counter perspective for.

A good example being those who want to be able to quickly skim through the story, and wanting that fast click or skip option. players do this when they don't respect the story. part of a game developers job is to figure out how to get players to be interested enough in the story (aka respect the story) to actually want to read it and enjoy it how it was meant to be enjoyed. a player who doesn't respect what the creator is trying to do will only give advice on things they like, suggesting the game be a different game, but those who do respect the work give advice on issuse and the different ways they could be solved (ie any youtube video where someone critics a show or cartoon they like, or more general videos likeYou must be registered to see the links. ie someone who respects story writing starts to learn story writing and understand the pro's and con's, such as my example regarding pacing, I may not like it when the game gets in the way of my playing, but I know sometimes I'm being a bad player and right now the mood and pacing should be more important and as such I respect pacing because i know its trying to do something, and knowing how pacing is used I can tell if it is being used correctly or not and make suggestions with this mind set and not the mind set of a bad player.
The people who say sex scene must be option are
1 wrong,
2 that's probably true for games more focused on general smut and unlocking characters, which is most so sure I could see why The Rogue Trader would bring it up (but I strongly disagree, sorry to call you out, nothing personal),
and 3 for games where you really need to make a point, tell a story, etc. are an exception (sort of)
again a situation where you have to understand the subject to know how to use it, just blanket ideas aka saying 'all games' or 'convention' doesn't work. I say keep the sex scene as it is because
1 I didn't get freaked out because I'm not a socially awkard nerd, in fact I really liked how that scene was, it really matched the character, fit the deeper message you are hinting at, that and I was seeing things more from the girl's perspective anyway.
2 That and naming the MC, don't do that, it sounds like you want to explore your own deeper ideas and philosophies with this project, so the MC has to be a certain type of character, sure the player is controlling them, but the player isn't expressing themselves through the character, this is a game where the story is important, not the player. having an MC that players rename is good if the MC is just an avatar (seeYou must be registered to see the linksfor in depth character writing and knowing the difference between a character and an avatar), but its obvious with that intro that James isn't a place holder avatar for the player, sure James may not be a special character like Geralt from the Witcher. we play witcher so we can RP 'as' Geralt, but that's a special kind of character, as mentioned in the video. James however is the inbetween character, not just an avatar, but not a famus character we want to roleplay as, he's just himself, he contributes to teh story by being himself, and that includes having a name that matches his personality. I say this also is good as it is and you shouldn't have to worry about it changing.
anyways, these are just counter points, a different perspective. there are many ways to improve a project, but don't get overwelled with having so many small things all at once.
Same! I get that, I trying for something similar, but from a different perspective (hence why I'm going for a female perspective).I would like them to think more in a line of: "OMG, I love this girl and her character....why can't I have a girl like that in a real life?! Anyways, I am going to at least but a real hard nut to her nude picture/animation, even if she is just lllustrated". Does that make sense?
Nah, I think that gets to one of my earlier comments on reddit, where some artist are only successfully by first developing their own niche community around the art they like to do, and keeping it alive. That's what you'll have to push through, the rough patch of wanting to make something that few understand or appreciate, but after working on it long enough and being with a community, you'll start to find your 'group'. I've been a part of some projects where the whole community is in a secrete discord channel keeping the project alive and just hanging out. they hadn't even made a first prototype yet, but were working on art and writing. once you figure out and stick to what you want to do with your project, and there is enough 'meat' to it for other people to see and appreciate what you have achieved, and are doing, you'll be golden. Best of luck!but at the end of the day, I still want to make that game, so that I am happy with it. Because I believe that players will feel if I am not true to my vision. Hope it does not sound smugly.
Oh damnHi, there....you killed me with this comment...in a good wayYou can skip the minigame after 3 attempts. I mentioned the solution in the comments below.
Sorry if I disappointed you...it revolves around the fact, that MC is supposed to be very smart person, but I guess I will make this as a sidequest, that is not really mandatory to continue the main plot.
Wich never stopped anyone from making themselves a nuisance anywayThe people who say sex scene must be option are
1 wrong
The kind of commenters I'm speaking about don't really care too much about what kind of game they're playing: they want all the sex to be avoidable ("doesn't happen following player agency") and that's it. I wouldn't be surprised if someone would come out saying "I felt raped". I'm dead serious.2 that's probably true for games ...
3 for games ...
Profile pic sauce bro?Very good start. I can't wait to see more, the story is very interesting and I feel sorry for the mc... I hope we can soon put some order in his life.
The only tiny negative point (and this is only my opinion) is that I find the text to be slow. I may be reading too fast haha adding in the options to adjust the speed of text would be cool. (But frankly, it's a minimal annoyance)
Otherwise, I really like the design and graphics of the game, it's beautiful. good work.
Thank you for sharing![]()
