VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Second Chance [v1.0] [Maks]

Nicely done game... Renders are in good quality, animations are very good, plot of the story is usual but above average. Big plus is that game is completed so you don't need to wait for updates and play it as one piece. Time in this game was worth, enjoyed it.

The graphic are great, the animation is good. If you just want a quick fap with incest themes, this is your game.


If you came for the story, don't. Every conflict aside from the older sister not liking the mom is very forced and most of the characters outside the blood dad and the friends are unlikable. although there is an amusing scene where the step-dad admits he only likes the mom for her body and not her personallity.

There also some glaring issues that can't really be ignored. First, most of the mom's canonical sex scenes are in pitch darkness. making it near impossible to see the actually scene. I don't get why they would do this when in any other night scene you can see just fine. Second is the mom, her obsession to bang her son is literally insane as she she goes from loving mom in the blue path but turns controlling and evil in the red path. Third is the younger sister, the author said we couldn't romance the younger sister because she was underage. However, it's implied they are in America and the MC is drinking alcohol in multiple scenes which makes him at least twenty-one. They say the MC and the Younger Sister are 3 years apart which would make her 18, perfectly legal. I get that the author probably isn't American, but at least come up with a better reason you can't bang the younger sister since you can bang the older one.

TLDR, Great CG except for odd pitch black scenes, and awful, inconsistent writing.

When I think of Second Chance, I think "RUSH B CYKA BLYAT" so much the game doesn't let you breathe.

The biggest flaw in the game is that there's no build-up and all the relationships are rush. As a result, you don't get attached to the character, you don't get angry at them and you don't care what happens to them.

Apart from that, the visuals are quite correct and the game is animated, I think it's always a plus.

Despite everything, I recommend it but keep in mind that you won't be playing it for the story. I give it a 3 star rating that seems fair to me.

And as criticism is easier than practice, I would still like to thank Maks for his work.

The game doesnt look bad overall, at first is enough to look at while you read the story.
Visually is correct, but as you play and the story loses hype and becomes ridiculous ,issues start being more noticeable and make your eyes bleed, for instance hips stickingout to the side with the torso remaining vertical.

As for the story, many stories are cringe if you are not ready to accept what they are telling you, and this is no different. The thing is im under the impression that the story goes beyond ridiculous at some point and sex scenes dont seem to make up for it. You get so see a lot of boners for a while, though.

You dont get to choose any relationship, i guess maybe between mother and friends, but ive been trying to get rid of them and at some point theres no more choices, so you stick with them.

Theres no sound.

The fisrt sex scene between mc and his "mom" is a blowing each other in turns and consists of 9 renders and 2 short animations. After that theres a
"they embrace in a deep kiss"(according to text) what is actually a peck.

So this scene its supposed to be a turning point where both really act on their mutual attraction, and you get that chep rushed scene.

From here seems like they run out of ideas, so they turned the gae into a mindless fuckfest, tried to rush and close all character arcs inthe process and thats it

To be honest I wasn't to sure how to rate this one. Sometimes the situations just seemed too exaggerated or didn't happen in the way they should. I felt rushed through every situation and that there wasn't anything I should stop for.

I do think there are great things like the girls are beautiful and I loved the little animation effect during sex scenes. I also liked the diversity in the girls.

Overall I guess I will go with a 3 star out of 5!

A easy adventure with no string attached.

Animation and graphics:

- the game is decided to either end with mom or with all other girls, but no granular choice in between
- the story is straight forward without a build up on the individual characters
- I find Nicole to be a bitch toward Derek no matter what patch you choose
- I liked the fourth wall joke with 'Truth and Dare' is overused. Indeed I saw it being used in multiple games when you want to escalate the situation faster.

Gameplay:
- done with Ren'Py, easy to use
- all those "Sometime later", few minutes after are a bit annoying

Models:
- you have a bit of diversity in the models so this is good. I find Marisol very ugly (not sure if this was the intention of creator or it just happened). - Reedley is gorgeus but there is one scene where it looks like she has glass eyes

The game is cute, the graphics are great and the hot scenes are well done (at least they are dynamic I'm sick of static games).
Unfortunately no audio, the story is divided into 2 important choices 1 mom 2 no mom.
I suggest you to finish it with both stories. The story itself is not bad but at a certain point it becomes too exaggerated both in one version and in the other. In conclusion the game deserves a 6,5 /10.
Its strong point is the dynamic graphics in the hot scenes.

Considerations: Though a visual novel, ingame decisions have an impact on story, characters are well developed. Graphics also very nice.

It had huge potential.

Pros:
1) Models.While some are generic and you can find them in another games as well,they are some which are rare to find.And they look nice.
2) Good ol' simple Ren'Py engine.Easy to use,easy to like.
3) Good visuals

Cons:
1) Story:
-> It is too straightforward especially the part with mom.She sees her son after a while and out of nowhere and almost immediately she gets hungry for his junk and tries so hard to get the mc for her if he says no to her originally...Really ?
-> Half the dialogue between characters is so cringe and childish that makes my brain hurt.
-> Lack of diversity and choice limitation.You only get 2 endings:With mother or with the girls you spend time with.
2) Characters.They have no depth whatsoever.

This game could have been a huge hit,but it was rushed.

I think there are plenty of reviews here which sum up the pros and cons about this game very well. Therefore I will give a short version about what is good about this game and what is bad.

Good:
The graphics and individual renders are nice.
The UI is simple to understand.
The story is quite straight forward.

Cons:
The story although straightforward is lackluster as there are only two paths and endings no matter what you choose.

No music or soundtracks.

The characters are lackluster as pretty much all of them are two dimensional which makes most characters unattractive.

The choices barely have meaning. Might as well have had only the 2 choices in the beginning.

Personal note: I feel bad about a male villain of this game.

That is very much it. The game is just average. I could not get into the characters and the overall story. It is not bad but terribly average game with decent graphics.

It is a fun game nothing too serious about the story but there are interesting situations and choices. Renders are nice and girls are beauty. Lewd scenes are average quality but it was ok for me. Overall this is not a special game but quality work.

This is a pretty average game in my opinion. I would say that this is more a visual novel than a game. There are only 2 routes in the game -

1. You choose mom
2. You don't choose mom

What I really liked about the game is the graphics. Almost all the girls are pretty hot. This game has the most beautiful mom character among all the games I've played. There could have been more animations but the ones that are there are good so I don't want to include it in the criticisms.

Now to the criticisms.

It would have been a "game" if my choices had a consistent influence on the story. I am saying this because I tried different combinations in choosing the girls but still got the same ending regardless of the choices.

Mom's (Nicole) character is really hot. Although the story starts with her having abandoned her husband and child. With the passing of the game, we realize that she is nothing but a whore. That just takes out all the attraction for the character. First, she cheats on her husband and even has a child from another man. Then, she leaves her family for her lover. Then, when her son arrives, she starts having sexual feelings for her son out of the blue and now her lover, for whom she left her family, doesn't do anything for her sexually? This just proves she's a whore who just needs a new dick because she got bored with the previous dick. She just wants the dick.

Now, coming to the other criticisms of the game. In the route where you don't choose the mom, you get the harem ending no matter what you choose. You don't get to choose which girl you want. Personally, I didn't like Carol that much. But, no matter what you WILL end up being her husband along with 3 other girls in the end. Reedley is my favorite girl. However, the game doesn't give you a choice to impregnate her.

In the mom route, you only get the mom. A harem route was possible even in the mom route. But the dev just wanted to wrap up the game, it seems.

So, my advice to the dev, in fact, all the devs, is that try planning out the endings of the games first. For that, you need to have a FULL story ready before starting a game. Most of the games, nowadays, lack the climax. Most of the current games have rushed endings. There are only a handful of games that I think are COMPLETE in real sense. Fillers can be added on the go but the main storyline should be fixed from the start. According to me, that greatly increases the quality of the development.

So I played through this a few times to see the different endings.

Graphics are good...not great. All of the models both male and female are attractive. There's variety in their looks. My main complaint with the graphics is the dead eyes of the characters. I'm sure this is something the artist can improve upon.

The story is decent enough...enough to keep you engaged to get to the end. Some interesting plot twists.

Plenty of sex, but no real repurcussions with those choices (meaning you can't really lose and you'll still have plenty of women to bang). The game centers around your relationship with Nicole. If you make the positive choices for Nicole, you'll end up with her. If you go the other route, you'll end up with any number of girls at the end. Either way, you still end up banging half of the hot girls in town (though I've noticed that the right choices give you more anal scenes). Personally, I preferred the not Nicole option.

Outside of the relationship with Nicole, some of the choices have little repercussions. Do I get high or not? Most of the time I couldn't find any difference in some of the scenes.

The characters are decent other than the younger sister. She has zero impact in the game (and if they had just made her a little older, it would have been interesting). Jessica's character was interesting and it would have been useful to explain a bit more of her backstory so her redemption would have had more impact. Same thing with Nicole (if you go the NOT Nicole route). They try to explain that to a certain extent but it seems incomplete.

This is probably just me...but if you play through you're pretty empathetic with Derek...part of the reason I preferred the NOT Nicole ending is how could you cheat with that guy's wife? He's just a good dude that allows you into his home so you can attend college and you bang his wife? Even for a young guy with mommy issues thinking with his dick, that seems pretty low.

The animated scenes are very good.

The dialogue is pretty meh. I wish they would have given you the option for what to call Nicole because role model or mentor is pretty weird. You can name your character but not a name for Nicole like mom or step-mom? The dialogue is also inconsistent and repetitive.

I really don't know if it is meant to be a joke or the dev is serious about it.
In so many years and after so many games, this will be the second bad review on F95
because usually, if a Game is bad, I will not rate it. Just if it is a good one.
But this? This game cries for it.

On the good side, the renders are ok. Not for 2020 but... most games havent noticed that its not
2015 anymore. So points to the graphics.
And that is all, on the good side.

Now to the Bads:
The renderings are extremely emotionless. You read "Wow that was funny" and you see "grumpy dude face".
You read "hell ya, i fuck a hot girl" and you see: "Young Boys face as if he is thinking about something."
So.. its not only that most facial expressions not reflect the scene. Most of them are fitting for buying groceries.

Next thing: Illusions.
The game gives you the illusion to do as you want. It works like: You dont want it, so dont do it, you dont get it.
Then, 20 Scenes later, the game decides that your decision is crap and change it like it wants.
Wierd? Yes.. I feeled fooled by a game!
An Example:
Because of Mommy-Tits I disliked her from the beginning and DO NOT WANT to change that at any point of the game.
The game ends, I love mommy and cuddle up with her. (WHAT?!)
Also I was choosing to be Team-Jessica. Also Teamed up with Ashley (without choice). Ashley comes nicely and want to get rid of mommy.
I think "Nice! Lets do this!". My Character on the other side does everything to prevent the Blackmail. (WHAT!?) Why is he defending his mom.
I made clear, the whole game, that I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE MOM IN THIS HOUSE. At -25 Lovepoints.
This is going through the whole game. Whenever you decide something, be sure that this will not have any impact on nothing. Just for 10-15 scenes.
Then the game will change everything like it want to. No matter what your decision was.

Further: Unconnected Key-Scenes
Did you ever play a game before, where you can punish a girl and hate-fuck her, without the game taking any response on that fact?
Here is the game.. I made clear that Ashley is my doll now, do what I say and if not, she get punished.
But.. well.. just for a moment. And just once. After this event, the game will never loose a word about it nor is Ashley behaving any different then before.
There are also scenes with mom, that should have a massive impact on the story and their behavior. But nothing. As if it never happens.

And: The writing itself.
The story is all the way very flat. Very often you have scenes that makes not the slidest sence. Like Arguing with your mother while sitting on the bed.
One frame later she is giving you a blowjob. And MC is not doing anything to fight her away (because i made clear that I DONT WANT HER IN ANY WAY IN MY LIFE!).
Also there are many things where I would love to have a choice, but I dont have one. I just forced to let it go as it is.
Always trying to be nice and gentle to mommey and Ashley even when I clearly statet that I give zero fucks about them.
Also.. most of the girls want to fuck you. You dont need to do something for it. Its more like watching a porn movie. They just want to fuck you because of... you are male, have a pulse, constant breath and a nose in your face.
And so forth..

Finaly: Bad Coding style.
Usually I dont "play" Picture books. I like real games where I can roam around like I want, spy on whom I want, do what I want.
But whenever I stumble over these pseudo visual novels.. there is one thing that piss me off: If I have no choice, dont make me push a button!
There are so many scenes in this game where I have "a choice" but only once. So I dont have a choice right? So why do I need to press a button, labeled with the only answer I have?
In these games, I hit spacebar to scroll through the scenes. And every 20-30 frames, I need to use the mouse and click on a button, for exactly NO REASON.
And that is making me very angry in this particular game, because the story is so wierd and hillarious that there is no difference in "just continue" or "press the only button to continue".
And while all my decisions have no impact to the game, there is not even a reason to make choices at all. Just make a Slide-Show out of it, noone will notice!

THE GOOD:

1. The models look good. The women are quite attractive and the men are also well done. None of the women appear to be silicon-inflated, which is nice. None of them are unbelievable in appearance.

2. The graphics. Beyond the models, this game looks great.

3. The gameplay. This game is pretty smooth and moves along nicely.

4. The sex. There is a fair amount of it for those looking for it.

5. Jessica. Although I am not a fan of most of the characters of this game, Jessica was definitely entertaining. Derek gets an honorable mention as a cool guy who you screw over.

6. Innovation. The developer used some solid creativity in parts of this game and the story. I definitely applaud that.

THE BAD:

1. The dialog is pretty bad and also confusing. It is obvious that this was meant to be an incest game and someone even slips that Nicole is your mom at one point. It just catches me as a bad choice to call her a role model or mentor the entire game instead of friend, stepmother, etc. Even one of the other characters refers to her as your whore role model. Huh? Also, people don't refer to people as friend, ward role model, and such every time they greet someone and some of these things not at all. Also, all of the women seem to share the same adjective when positively describing the main character. No one says cute? Just handsome, handsome, handsome. Repetition in some of these spots is not a good thing.

2. The story was so-so. Nothing really new for the most part with a couple new things tossed in that did move it away from the standard mother-son romance that I mentioned in the innovation bit.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Second Chance is a decent game over all, even though there is a fair amount of groan-worthy dialog. I think if you can get past that, you will enjoy the game for the sex and visual qualities.

It's a nice opening bid for the developer and I would definitely give them a "second chance" if they make new projects in the future.

It's slightly above average. I've rounded it up, as I dig the genre and enjoyed it enough to warrant 4 stars.


The characters are expressive but surreal. The possible villainess Nicole is downright psychotic. Your friend Jessica is a discount gangster who overuses the 3rd person joke. And your mom fantasizes about you way too quick. Despite the critique, at least thanks to their quirks I didn't get bored of them. Rather see an odd duckling than a perfect bore.

The story is eventful due to these characters, and ranges from semi-normal to weird and cheesy. They will invite, plot against, reward or otherwise inconvenience you. Character-driven stories like these feel organic, yet I couldn't fully immerse myself because there was frequently something off with it.

The dialog is understandable but there's not much depth to it. Trash talking some guy's woodpecker with the 'homies' stops being funny after the first time. That's awkwardly juvenile in something that takes itself serious.

The sex scenes are hit-and-miss. The mom scenes would've benefited from easing into the temptation slowly.


Overall, I would describe this game as enjoyable but inconsistent. Try it out if you're a fan of the genres.

The game is good, good animations, it keeps you focus in the game.
The only wrong for me (i'm a romantic) is there are not posible ending with Chloe..i love his character. Anyway, i've enjoyed the game

I'd say the game is mediocre... but there are just too many Bugs/Mistakes for a Three-Star-Rating.

The visuals aren't half bad most of the time. Other times, you see breasts glued to a body, where the dev seemingly didn't feel the need to match skin-colors. And I'm not sure, if those 1FPS Slideshows can be called "Animations".

But the worst are the dialogues. They are all... slightly off. And clunky. I don't really know. Take this example dialogue:

Nicole: "I'm going to swim in the Pool. Want to join?"
MC: "I'd love to swim in the Pool"
Nicole: "Then I'll wait for you by the Pool"
Narrator: "Nicole is now in the Pool"
Me: "I could be wrong... but I think they are going to the Pool..."

Second Chance is a solid, slightly above-average adult visual novel that caters to the incest and harem fetishes. Specifically and individually, mind you. What I mean by this is that the story (post incest patch) has two paths, and only two paths; the MC may engage in an incestuous relationship with his mother (or prepatch, a close family friend that was like a mother to him), or he gets (pretty much) every other girl in the game.

Early gameplay scenes and decisions allow you to cement the story path you want. If the MC chooses to dislike his mother, then she will accrue negative Mom Points, which are shown in the upper-right hand corner of the screen. If he chooses to forgive and love her, those points will be positive. Eventually you will hardlock either the Harem or the Mother path, and all choices beyond this point are of the standard AVN 'filler' variety (will you bang this side-chick, will you smoke a dooby with the girls, will your cummies go in tummies or grace the face, etc.). None of it really matters in the larger context of the story and you're not punished or rewarded for making these choices, it just adds flavor, and makes you feel like more of a participant once the final destination is set.

The renders are fine. They're not mind-blowing, they don't really have the explosion of detail and color that Radiant, Love of Magic, Light of My Life and others have. But they're nothing to complain about, they get the job done and some of the girls are very pretty. If you dug the models and looks of Parental Love or Bad Hero, these are about at that level. Animated sex scenes, however, are pretty damn swell at points. Personally, I don't usually care about animation in VN's. I can get my rocks off just fine with still images so long as the writing, um, gives me a hand, so to speak. But serious work was put into these loops, and it shows.

The premise is your standard Ren'Py Incest/Harem fare. You're a young college dude who moves in with an estranged relative to continue education at a new school, and you quickly become embroiled in various family/friend dramas with a smattering of petty revenge and crime. The thing that sets Second Chance apart from its contemporaries is the way it handles the branching story. On the Mom path, she's the goal post, and is as sweet as peaches and cream. But if you treat Mother as a villain, Mother becomes a villain. On the Harem path, she's an additional antagonist for the MC, and how he extricates himself from her clutches becomes a part of the narrative. It's intriguing, and kept me more involved in the Harem route than I thought I'd be.

SIDE-NOTE: There's been some hub-bub in the forums about the final update for the game, and how some players feel it abruptly ends the story. I personally did not get that impression in either of my playthroughs. There is a narrative build-up advancing several story-arcs and subplots, a big bad emerges, a climax ensues, and then there's a resolution. After the climax, the resolution details what happens initially, then over the coming months, then finally years. It takes about forty minutes to an hour (per route) to wrap everything up, and it does so just fine. Your mileage may vary, but I saw no problem with the game length. This isn't a forty hour epic saga of porking your mom and friends, but a single route can easily take you through an entire afternoon. It's not a short game, and the pacing felt fine to me. /END SIDE-NOTE

Second Chance is not perfect, however, and I would like to mention a few odd points where I think it faltered. First of all, for an Incest/Harem game, SC is surprisingly vanilla in its sex. Yes, you can engage in sex with multiple partners at once, there's impregnation towards the end, a couple instances of anilingus and ATM, and of course there's the whole 'banging Mommy' thing. But for all its pomp, none of it really feels very illicit or titillating. On the Harem route, almost every girl loves the MC and will eventually throw themselves at him. He even bangs the handful of girls that hate him. The sex is fun, but there's very little build-up to it and it's never dangerous or more than matter-of-fact. 'Here are twenty-somethings, and here's them banging. Cum, wipe, next scene.'

The girls are game and certainly pretty (and the much-praised Jessica is absolutely worth a Harem playthrough for her personality alone), but it never reaches for anything beyond baseline menage-a-trois erotica. There's no foreplay, no watersports*, no fingering, no dry-humping, no risky "don't get caught" sex at public functions, no BDSM**, and just one choice with one frame of hidden cum-swapping. That's it. Penis goes in vagina, penis goes in butthole, penis goes in mouth. Ejaculate, rinse, repeat. Serviceable, but not wholly stimulating stuff.

Similarly, the Mom route has mother and son, always, constantly referring to each other as mother and son. The game will never let you forget that. Mom thinks of nothing except how much she loves and wants to bang her sweet son. The MC gets to interact with other girls, but 'Mom' is his number one on this route and he, likewise, is one-note focusing on how much he wants to get up in them Mommy-guts. That's it. There's no real relationship between the two of them except how much they want to fuck each other, and the fact that they don't want to get caught. They go shopping, do the dishes and talk about how much they love each other, but they don't really act like a mother and son, so despite all the constant referrals to them as such, there's very little power in the erotic nature. And again, take away their names, and all your left with is very vanilla sex.

SIDE-NOTE #2: The game is, in fact, so vanilla that you're introduced to your younger sister at the beginning of the game and nothing happens with that for the rest of the game. She's sweet and pure and innocent and looks appropriately aged, she loves you and loves Mom and, again, there's no loli tag required because she's appropriately sized, with tits. But you know that the actual age would probably be a little suspicious, a little -BANG-BANG, FBI, OPEN UP!-. So no-go. No matter what, on no path, until the Epilogue, five years later, when you know it's age-appropriate. /END SIDE-NOTE

*Watersports- This irritated me. Perhaps I missed something along the way, but the game is tagged for urination. A couple of times, in both routes, the MC went to the bathroom and used the toilet. Then left. Nobody came in, no girls watched him. The story just continued. I never saw any urination used in any sex scenes. Yes, I'm a filthy degenerate, but consider me disappointed.

**BDSM- There is ONE spanking scene. One. The player is given the choice at a point to punish a girl that has been utterly horrible to him throughout the game, and if the player chooses to, they can spank her and engage in mildly rough sex. This is the closest the game comes to leaving safe waters. I can not stress this enough. Despite its tags and premise, Second Chance is shockingly vanilla.

Final complaint. The Harem route ends on a high note. High fantasy, even. It's the "you can have it all" ending, so long as you don't pursue Mother. Not particularly realistic, but who's asking for realism here? It's fine, and to be honest I enjoyed that ending very much. It's difficult to dislike a Happily Ever After, as improbable as it may be.

Then we have the Mom route ending, and holy shit, is there a difference. For whatever reason, this one went hyper-real. Imagine you're a super-attractive dude, with a super-attractive, married Mom. Imagine you two banged, and the world found out about it? How well do you think that would go? Short of jail time, that's exactly how well this storyline ends up. It's not quite miserable, but it sure as shit ain't happy. It's quietly desperate, sad, more than a little lonely, stressful and peppered with bittersweet. Heavy, heavy emphasis on the bitter. Not a great ending for a fantasy, but it doesn't exactly ruin the game either.

4/5 Standard, Vanilla Incest/Harem Game. Slightly above-average. Will continue to follow the dev's work.

Not much to really say, it came and it went.
I have my gripes but I'll keep them to the minimum mainly because others have already covered it. Nicole is a beautiful milf and I enjoyed her sex scenes. What I hated is the lack of a true Hate route, the Dev I felt should've at least gave a true bad ending it's called hate route for a reason. The ending was too happy and rushed.
Nicole was psychotic and vindictive at one point then June Cleaver. She forget she forced her son to fuck her? I wanted to give it two stars but instead I'll give it 3.
