VN Ren'Py Secrets and Promises [v0.05] [badbod]

Hello.

I was just starting Boxed In but then saw in the posts here that the Boxed In MC dies some time after that game and some of his LIs now get fucked by the MC in this game.

Fine - I always say a dev should make the game they want to make.

But as someone that gets invested in the MC and the characters I now have no interest in playing Boxed In knowing what the future is for that MC and his LIs.
Make fun of me if you want, but after getting invested in an MC and his relationship with his LI/LIs, seeing those LIs in a new game now with a new MC ruins it for me.
(Yes, I know the BI MC is dead - but that was clearly just a plot device to enable the dev to put the BI LIs in this game to be fucked.)

Still vacillating on whether or not to play this one.
I couldn't find any post from Badbod stating if this was a one time thing or if he might bring S&P LIs into future games to be fucked by those MCs.

I get that Badbod is a very good game dev and writer, that one thing is just kind of a deal breaker for me.

Trust me, even in death that dude is ready to go.

Let me be clear, I'm not pushing the dev to change what they do.
I am being respectful and trying to determine what content the dev likes so I can decide if they make games I will enjoy.
I get that Badbod is a very good game dev and writer, that thing is just kind of a deal breaker for me.

Boxed In LIs will be DLC content, so if you don't want them to be LIs in this game, don't download the extras when they are available, and they won't become LIs. I'm pretty sure you can avoid meeting them completely, so do that and you'll never even know any of what you posted!

To your question - No, I won't be reusing the characters from this VN in another novel. This VN has a much larger story and scope, so the majority of these characters will already have plenty of H scenes.

No sex (or anything) with the Boxed In characters so far, but every LI is optional in this game (I believe that's the case, I never say no to an LI). So ultimately, it's up to you whether or not this MC fucks the Boxed In LIs.

Boxed In is a fantastic game. I wish I could erase my memory of it and play it again for the first time. You'd really be doing yourself a disservice if you passed on badbod's games, in my opinion.

This was good, well written and the incesty kinda stuff had that slight edge of wrongness, which makes it hot. Though I'd prefer it if the girls were a bit more withholding and the MC had to wear them down a bit to get them to give in to it, but it's not that type of game. There's a good amount to it too for something that's been around about half a year.

Big props for putting in an ingame walkthrough, a rarity to see without needing a mod. I also appreciated the fetish options, getting to make sure you always baby someone up, turning off feet, etc.

Mild aside but there's so many ex-soldiers finding their way into these kinda sexcapades I'm starting to regret not becoming a jarhead... though I guess my Dad not being absent/dead rules me out of the demographic anyhoo.

Nicole and Millie are my favourites. Honourable mention to the Ex, even in porngame world not many mothers trying to throw their daughters at their estranged husbands for some wincest. And I guess I should let Cara get on the list as she's just as taboo as Mills and I do like the potential 3/4way vibe that friend group have.

Man Pete was a dick, to the degree I heavily judge the MC about it, there's only so oblivious you can be. It feels a bit too nicey nicey convenient how all women are lining up to tell him he's blameless.

All the rest is pretty much just an agree, but on this bit, it's a confirmed yes. In fact, we've now met Mary on the original "Sarah" path, and I'm sure it won't be long until we meet Sarah on the original "Mary" path too.

Yeah, you are able to get them both on either route. It just takes longer for the one you skip at the start. I'm still unsure myself which I think is the better main route, but both are good. Mary is already showing up on Sarah's route in the latest update and with Dawn already on the Mary path having shown up I think on Mary's path we will get reintroduced to Sarah via getting to know Dawn on that route instead of the other way around. but that's speculation.

Yeah, I was going to say about Dawn being the potential "in" for meeting Sarah again. I wonder how that will go, whether it will be bumping into Sarah and then doing the whole stopping at her friend's place and realising it's Dawn, and getting into sexy times that way, or if it will be getting sexy times with Dawn and then meeting Sarah through her and inviting her in. The first way will only need a small change in dialogue to effect, whereas the other way will need more changes and potentially change the scenes enough that separate replay gallery entries will be needed.

If I were to speculate more, on Mary's route I'd guess that with Dawn helping get Sue's daughter out her situation we'll tell Dawn to lay low for a while and she'll go, "Stay with a friend," and when we go check on her it'll be Sarah. While on Sarah's route Dawn will just say she is staying with Sarah. Like you say, it'll unify the route with out as much story gymnastics needing to be done

Also if you do not get a lift at the start, you also meet her early.

At the start of the game, either don't intervene when Sarah is harassed at the gas station or don't accept a ride from her. Accept a ride into town from Bill instead and then you'll meet her. Her late game content is fantastic!

I'd seen posts about meeting a girl early if you decline the ride, but for some reason I thought it was Chloe. Didn't realize there is an entirely separate branch available with Bill and Mary!

Edit: Getting near the end of the Mary branch. Good lord zero experience outside the military and he backs it up into an alley dock like a champ. Now I understand why all the ladies are throwing themselves at him! Bro is apparently a polymath at everything hehe.
