I am unable to support anything on patreon, so pardon my impudence hehe. Have you guys considered or polled on patreon what release schedule they prefer? For a long time, SoC was not running at a budget where we could make CGs for all the scenes we made in a month. We have since then slowly decreased the back log, but not all scenes have CGs. It is also impossible for us to make CGs for events written that month because it takes all month to write so there is no time for art until the following month.
It's not an error. Every scene in the game is slated to get CGs.
I think your current system is probably the most efficient model to push the game forward at a good pace. The scope of this game is pretty huge after all. From a dev's perspective it makes great sense. From a player's perspective though... it's quite frustrating to play this game once you reach the end once. I don't know how others do it, but I dont normally have a very organized save for each scene. Especially with the RNG heavy way the scenes triggers, and most of them being one time things, its kind of hard to make saves to come back to each scene. If I go through a scene with no CG, thats pretty much it. That scene is wasted.
I had an amazing experience the very first time I played this game. But every update after, was mostly blank screen scenes which was pretty much eh.... Save compatibility broke once and I had to restart and got to see some new stuff. Then playing each update meant mostly blank screens again.
How would people respond to a two month dev cycle? In the worst case scenario, you waste a month waiting for the artists to finish the scenes. Best case, you come up with a new workflow that takes advantage of the extra month. Either way, the game would definitely progress a bit slower than whats going on now I guess, but each update would feel much more satisfying if the new scenes actually had CGs.
Maybe you just have the eye on the prize and want the most efficient way to the finish line. I guess thats a fine goal as any. This game would be amazing when its completed.
